    At a loss as to why you two don't have more popularity. Films like these are what deserve attention, so informative and true to the fish and the sport.

    I am from Boston originally and have fished in places like that as a kid back in the 70s. I have since then travelled to a lot of other states and countries to fish, all on the fly. I was also a western fly fishing guide for 14yrs. I never once forgot where it all began for me, as a guide I was asked almost on every trip..."when did you start fly fishing?" I told them way back in 1977 when I was only 7yrs old. This video brought me to a feeling of nostalgia being a kid and forgetting about the rest of the while I was fly fishing. I always tried to have my clients forget about everything except for where and what they were doing while being in the river. I wish video didn't end... I could keep watching this and feeling this way because of the video for an eternity. Great job done. A captivating movie.

      As a highschooler from a town just south of Boston I can tell you that this is pretty inspiring. I have a real passion for fishing and spend a lot of time biking to ponds near me and searching for trout in small streams. I have recently picked up fly fishing and hope to spend a lot of my life doing it. I hope to find somewhere good to catch my first trout on the fly but I just seem to not be able to find a good spot, just bass for now. I have always wanted to catch a Maine river brook trout. Just a matter of time until I get my license and then I will hopefully travel all over NE chasing fish

    Wonderful film. I've lived in Maine for half my life (the best half) and we raised our kids here. They fell in love along with us with the forests, mountains, rivers, lakes, and the rocky coast, and even when grown, they never left. It's the last best place, and if I never venture beyond its borders in all my remaining years I will simply be happy.

    I’m truly at a loss of words. This film is beautiful and tells a amazing story of a resilient species. This film has inspired me to cherish and conserve the last strong hold of big native Brook trout in for the next generation. I didn’t realize until recently that my great home state had this wonderful treasure.

    Circling back around to where you both began. Fresh and inspiring as ever. Having spent my only 9-5 work experience as an air cooled Vdub mechanic and owning a good few, I genuinely empathize. The brand is hearty but it demands one’s premier devotion. The air cooled German engineering not with standing, you have rekindled a connection to both of our pasts fly fishing. It’s time to reclaim my father’s extensive kit and start tying and traveling to angle again. Thank you. Until our paths cross again…

    That anyone could neg this glorious work of art is beyond me; but let's ignore them. As an Adirondack trout fisherman for the last 40 years, I offer my heartiest congratulations. Exciting, sumptuous footage. I deeply appreciate your aesthetic. Keep doing what you do! Tight lines! Oh....and that fish? at 25:20? Gaaawwwww. Just nonsensical. No words. May as well have been a unicorn.

    Man i'm just seeing this for the 1st time and this honestly made me cry. I fished for brook trout on a fly rod with my dad for the better part of 20 years in New Hampshire. He passed away 2 years ago and this video just brought every memory i've ever had with him fly fishing. I honestly can't believe this was made in 2017. The video quality is absolutely out of this world. No one has ever created a more incredible brook trout film. This was an absolute masterpiece. My computer is way too old to look this insanely clear lol. Again MASTERPIECE

    As a resident of Maine, I never want to leave this state just from the great brook trout fishing we have here. It is sad to see it decline in a lot of places from invasive species and etc. But there are so many opportunities for big brookies all across the state. Last year I saw a photo of a guy who caught a 26 inch brookie in the Moosehead region, if you go to the Maine guide fly shop in Greenville and ask they might have a photo you can see. Every year I fly fish remote ponds in the Moosehead and Baxter State park region. If you guys come back to Maine I highly recommend getting a float tube and fishing some of our remote ponds we have here, truly a national treasure. You might have to do a bit of bushwhacking and hiking but trust me it’s worth it. And it’s even better if you hit the hex/green drake hatch. Those May flys that hit the water are bigger than your whole thumb. It’s an amazing experience, and if you hit it at the right time you’ll get tired of catching brookies. Also your video deserves a lot more credit, really well done, and awesome fish 👍🏻

    • @TightLoops
      @TightLoops  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Colby! Its definitely been a dream to explore the remote ponds. We fished the Moosehead region this past fall and timed it wrong (one week crazy heat wave shut the rivers down. It was 85 degrees in late September). Beautiful though, can't wait to try again this year.

    I sat at my fly tying desk whilst I watched this tying some small midge patterns ready for the spring melt. The wind outside was so strong it meant the snow wasn't falling but moving horizontally, apparently never touching the ground. The melt still feels a long way off here in northern Sweden but this film really whisked me away to a different time of the year. Thanks for putting so much of your time into this production. I feel like I shouldn't have watched this for free! I look forward to watching more of your work! Cheers!

    Nicely done.
    Beautiful scenery. Love seeing the lions that are so amazing as well.
    Remember to always catch and release. Keep those fish in the water and remember if your going to take photos consider holding your breath and remember those fish can’t breath when out of the water...🎣

    • @TightLoops
      @TightLoops  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Paul! All these rivers have strict regulations. Catch and release only, barbless hooks, no bait. We deliberately shoot all of our "hero shots" of fish with a high speed camera that shoots 240 frames per second, which is 10 times slower than real life, turning 3 seconds into 30. Any shots you see of a fish out of water here took place over 1 or 2 seconds.

    "Some say that Maine is the last true stronghold of native Brook Trout in those kinds of size and numbers" - maybe in the US. From Manitoba to Newfoundland they still grow big, wild and pretty plentiful across Canada. Those being native populations. Great video! Makes me want to go back to QC and NB.

    I’m from Maine, and appreciate the time you took to produce this film!! I’m fortunate enough to have caught 1000’s of BT over the years. Unfortunately most of my childhood trout streams have stopped producing these beauties!!! For several reasons unfortunately. Thankfully we have some rivers, lakes and ponds that hold solid numbers!! I dread the day where don’t have this resource anymore!!

    • @TightLoops
      @TightLoops  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Yeah, it's the unfortunate truth for Brook Trout habitat everywhere in the eastern US. Maine is the last true stronghold though, so imagine how bad it is elsewhere. I dread that day too, but it might be inevitable. Not just for brookies, but all cold water species. The planet's getting hotter, and our delicate fresh water ecosystems are going to get hit first, and hardest.

    Beautiful work and beautiful country. I used to fish a large remote mountain lake in SW Oregon in the Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness area, had monster Brook Trout (non Native) dwarf that big one she caught,there is a video somewhere on You Tube of it. Long hike to get to so never over fished.

    • @TightLoops
      @TightLoops  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean...it probably didn't DWARF that fish, but I definitely believe you. Theres a number of systems in the PNW that produce really big brookies. As long as they stay in remote lakes its not too big of a problem, but once they make it into connected river systems, they are a massive threat to native species.

      Oh wow another Aimee in a van! New Zealands trout situation is...complicated. As conservationists the non native trout there are kind of a disaster. The biggest threat to Maine Brook Trout is You Tube and You. Appreciate all the additional pressure on the trout fishery you add. Great way to make a living exploiting natural resources. You come to Maine make your film and go back home and leave the residents a lessor place. Then on to the next State and repeat without respect for the resources or the local residents.

    • @TightLoops
      @TightLoops  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Appreciate the feedback, but this is unfortunately demonstrably false. HANDS DOWN the greatest threat to Maines brook trout is state sponsored stocking of nonnative and invasive gamefish, as well as illegal introductions by ecologically illiterate anglers. Go take a trip to The Rapid and see how long it takes you to catch a bunch of bass. Wish I could blame that on TH-cam. And you’re right, we don’t live in Maine, we live in our van, which means every state we visit we are outsiders, but I don’t believe that residency has a bearing on what and where we value. I’m also a board member of the Native Fish Coalition, which does the majority of its work in Maine, so you’d be hard pressed to point to me as a threat to Maines native fishes. The unfortunate news for, well, everything, is that the human population is expanding at an unsustainable rate, and outdoor recreation as well as outdoor spaces are overflowing. There is no stopping the spread of information, all we can hope to do is control the messaging. So you should be glad that people making videos about Maine are sound, conservation minded, native fish advocates, as apposed to something far worse. The pressure is coming, whether we like it or not, you just better hope that the people who show up treat these place with respect. Remember, in the end it doesn’t belong to you, or any of us, for that matter. And for what it’s worth, we get about 100 emails a year asking us to divulge our favorite secret spots in Maine, and we always answer them with a polite “sorry, but we don’t live in Maine and don’t feel the direct impacts of that pressure, so we don’t think it’s our place to exchange that knowledge. Reach out to someone local and gain some mutual trust and respect, and go from there.”

    • @TightLoops
      @TightLoops  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, and we make about 200 bucks a month from TH-cam. If you consider that a living, I’d love to know your secret. We make films because we think they’re important, not to exploit nature for financial gain. In fact I can tell you for a fact we’ve taken a massive loss on every single film we’ve made to date.
