      He isn't shit.
      But if you "compare" him to some other lead guitarists, with all due respect he falls a little short.
      His style seems very limited (I mean why do you think ppl troll him with "pentatonic" jokes), it works well for metallica no doubt.
      And yes I do play guitar, I am not even close to his level of skill but I think he can do better, his earlier stuff was very good, lately....idk not so much

    My mom said she was at this show. It was like 8 or 9 months before I was born so she says. The show must of soaked into her ovaries or something. She did have backstage passes and met the band and stayed for like 5 hours after the show, they must of had good food.. but anyways.. My whole life I just do random drums fills in the weirdest places and speak Danish like I have tourettes and I once uninstalled Napster from my friends computer and I have no idea why.

    This fucking tour will never be matched by any band. Ever. It was a fucking tidal wave of sound and energy that just beat the shit out of you for 2 hours. Feel bad for the people who didn't get to see it live. Despite cliff being gone, this is the best metal band ever at their peak, hitting on all cylinders, led by the greatest front man of all time. The measuring stick for every other band.

      I was too young in ‘89 would’ve been 5 but got to see em twice in ‘97 on the cunning stunts tour where the set collapsed and the dude came out on fire and again in ‘98 when I was like 14 5’5 130lbs in the pit lol thought I was gonna get crushed but everyone was cool and Metallica fuckin brought it. Would trade 10 years of my life to be able to go back to see em in the 80’s. Especially this show and on their ‘86 tour opening for Ozzy who also rules hard

    Rob's a great bass player, but man, I miss Jason's stage presence, energy, and especially his backing vocals. He really helped carry them live, it was like Metallica had two frontmen. They put that dude through so much petty shit, and he still gave everything he had.

    My favorite Metallica performance ever. It took me 30 years to realize it, but Seattle 1989.... that’s Metallica at their absolute pinnacle. The people there witnessed magic.

    Cliff Burton may be a legend, but Metallica´s absolute peak as a live band is due to Jason Newsted. He made Lars´s playing sound tighter, James´s voice sound fiercer and made them look altogheter as a serious heavy metal band. Not even the most technical bassist could fill his shoes.

      they were just a mature band by then consider back when they started james wasnt even going to be the lead singer.. but he improved with time. Jason brought a different vibe but cliffs impact was undeniable he taught james and lars much of what they know.

I think his contributions were fundamental to their musical growth.... but as a LIVE band, Jason had amazing backing vocals and a more solid, profound bass sound the band lacked, and made them sound more powerfull than ever (before or since).

      jonny j yes you can, they have the master tapes from the live recordings and can remix them to sound like whatever they like. When a concert is properly filmed like this they have mics everywhere and also record straight off the soundboard, they mix everything to give it a decent sound then sync it up with the video.

      It’s crazy how most of live fans that attend Metallica today shows won’t headbang cause they have to film them instead back then they would headbang before and after they would leave the stage let alone during!!

    I think this is the best Metallica concert. The Monsters of Rock concert in Moscow was huge and stuff, but this one is legendary

    Lucky are those who were at this show. Metallica were locked in and, to my ears, this was them at their heaviest and most brutal. If they'd just treated Jason better. He didn't deserve the bullshit they put him through.
