- Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima finally broke the 10 minute barrier at Pikes Peak in 2011 on the last ever edition of the mythic Hillclimb still raced with dirt surface (although only on some parts)
Posting a 9.51:278, the Veteran Japanese drove a very special Suzuki SX4 unit, powered by a 3.1L TwinTurb V6 unit capable of over 900Hp, delivered to all 4 wheels, moving only little more than 1 ton of weight.

I was lucky enough to watch Tajima “Monster” several times at PPIHC in the early-mid 2000s during the dirt/mixed surface days.
Even then, we knew we were witnessing a historic legend! He loves his fans and was always one of the most enthusiastic drivers with fans during the post-race downhill parade lap. Great guy and incredible driver.
I love the SX4 cross (not the sedan), it's tough and looks so cool. My mom has one, and once we drove outroad unpurpously because we got lost LOL, it behaved very well, without a problem.
WILD that Suzuki WAS KILLING the hill climb game back in the day!? In the 90’s to 2000’s they were slaying with these crazy high horse power turbo 4 cylinders , AWD and wild wings and splitters , definitely SO far ahead of their time! Sad to not see them around anymore.
I also thought they had 1000hp. but it turns out Rally B strongest car (Ford RS200) had ruffly 600hp and not way more NM compare to modern cars.

0:40 many soiled pants as he rained in the understeer, that was actually right on the line. You can see him sorting the massive downforce and front grip, that thing is slightly more setup for dirt, on the start line you can see the softer suspension setup. Hope they keep pikes with dirt sections.
Yea I wish. I know this comment was 3 years ago but yea. I miss when the cars used to look like group b cars on Steroids, but they paved the roads and now we have things like the IDR

Wow I just used a SX4 as a courtesy with a cvt and man that was slow and so inconfortable to drive. But this is out of this world.
Id be afraid to drive that beast but its my favorite car on GT6. 😍

The car is a beast! It's got a front and rear v6 engines with twin turbos at 910 hp and no drive shaft with just over 1000 kg... I'd be afraid too lol

The real fastest hillclimber is the camera man, who is so kindly letting Tajima catch up, but he can't afford the entry fee so he's trying to make TH-cam money to save up ☺️
Obviously the driver takes corners the rally drivers way which is a great pleasure to behold

how about them spectators on the outsides of the corners? and nearly ON the road? the term ˝crowd control˝ comes to mind when Gr. B is mentioned but this is 30 some years later!!! AND, it´s a world renowned event!!! we have local events that are far safer for both the spectators and competitors...

I grew up in Kenya with the Safari Rally. Participated in servicing and checkpoints.
Rally drivers were more likely to hit the wildlife and livestock than people. I don't recall a single time when spectators got run over.
We always talked about the notorious Portuguese fans. Turns out they're not the only ones. Denmark, where I live, is almost as bad. Look at all the vids of rally accidents, here on TH-cam. Europeans getting run over in all of them.
