Hi August, Have you ever tried rain gloves? I tried some after a rainy golf outing with a friend who had them and was stunned how well they worked. Our daughter borrowed them for riding dressage in the rain, and I chose to buy myself another pair. She didn't want to give them back! Thanks to you and the crew for sharing all the knowledge in these great vids. Wish I knew all this when I was climbing and blocking trees down 30 years ago with just gaffs and a couple lanyrds. Have been scratching that old itch again. Your store's service is top shelf! Keep them prayers up, we could use all the help we can get!
That was not an easy tree. your editing made it look routine. Your a humble dude. That tree was all over the place. Cutting in a tight spot. Walking out on thin limbs your the best.

I don’t mind working in the rain, but if it’s a pruning job where I’m not wearing spurs and might have to walk far out on a limb or something and the trees are real wet I’ll usually wait because of how slippery it can get. Great work 👍 🌲

If it's where I think it is, it's across from the biggest park in our city. The road to the apartments could easily have been blocked, with notice, for an over an hour, without harm to normal traffic or the residents. I'd hate for the city to think August knows what he's doing. Shhh.

Was working a tree very similar to that one today, and man, you make climbing look smooth. Also fun seeing your wife join you at work. MB 2.0 has been the best saddle I've used in 18 years of tree work. Since you mentioned the adjustable bridge, I actually take it a step further and untie it. It only takes a few seconds to tie a stopper knot, and you can easily adjust the length of your bridge when you put on the saddle. A lot of climbers struggle with the concept of tying and untying the knot, thinking about how difficult it is to loosen after months of climbing on the same bridge. It's actually really easy if you do it on a regular basis. An open bridge makes it even easier to put on, no moving parts, no added expense.
Always a pleasure to watch a master at work. And teaching the next generation of tree workers. I think you will be back on this site to deal with those sickly pines too. .

Yes, worked in rain / sleet / snow and ice covered roofs. Firefighters work in all types of weather. Hated ice or snow covered roofs. Then most fires the snow and ice 'might' melt. Way after we had cut a ventilation hole so the smoke / heat and steam would vent out the roof. Thank you for the video. Hope the crew / family and you are doing well. Another excellent video from Mr S'oggiest Hunicke! (Except ye don't get soggy ;) Looks like that gear works and you gave it a work out! Had to laugh as well at the lad in a previous video who talked of rain-gear looking like a clown suit. One of the pros of getting older is caring less and less what one looks like. Function over form every time. Of course, that beaver harness fulfils both criteria 😎
Here in the PNW it was hard to find a harness that could be comfortable with rain gear. Love MB harness but my favorite rain jacket was $19 bucks at goodwill thin enough to keep you cool but 100 waterproof

Great job with that tree. It was kinda like a Jenga/Tetrus thing you had to solve. I don't mind getting wet, but that kind of rain in the oil patch, is hell because it makes endless mud. The mud out there is conjured by the devil himself. The worst city rain ever, is bliss compared to a mild drizzle in the patch. I hate mud so much that I transferred from Alberta to Yemen (which turned out to be awesome besides not having any mud).
Putting a MB harness on is exactly as August described. No more salsa dance trying to step through leg holes and a tight bridge while all your clothes bunch up
I feel like i think i have found my dream job you get to run chainsaws climb trees and it just seems like its rewarding and satisfying at the same time idk what it is but i definitely want to try it.
August, A lot of the time I think it looks so easy, and it was refreshing to see this, the weather, the sprawling nature of the tree, the delicate surroundings, etc. make for quite the challenge. It looked like you ended up sitting on several of the branches/leads as you made your way around reducing the extremities. Was that due to the weather conditions or the branch angles vs your tie in angles? or perhaps both? How is Adam healing up?

HI August, George here. I remember keeping two big rubberbands on each boot to sinch the bottom of my rain slicks on the Salmon Seiner up in Alaska. You probably did that too. sure was nice when a slosh of water tried to wash up my leg.

Which brand was your favorite ? also did you have any issuses with hydraulic fluid heating up. we recently demoed 2 Drills the 1st one blew out on demo the other worked great. However my ditchwitch 1500 developed a fluid leak to find out the casing had a hair line crack causing a leak. Was it the drill or just a fluke coincidence? have any input?? Thank you in advance.
Hey August what kind of lanyard are you using? I just bought the Notch rope grab, it sucks, can't get it to release with my weight? I've been using a double lanyard my entire career would love to have an easy release able one for sure.

A real question My only 2 reservations about modern harnesses has been rope bridge vs steel d-rings & the buckles vs leather straps. Those 2 things make me emotionally uncomfortable. Having always climbed on a traditional buckingham. Why am I wrong about those 2 things?

Do you have a backup carabiner going through your zigzag just in case that little swivel breaks? that's what it kinda looks like but I could be wrong. awesome job and thanks for the vids, man.
