Another clinic in practical safety and experienced execution. There is so much nuance to what you and Damien do in this video that most people are oblivious to. Limb walks, tension and compression, lean and lay, rigging, stop vs. let it run, and so much more. Felling at the end with the hinge fiber sounds is like ASMR for me. Thanks for the great videos!

"We make it a point to leave something at every job sight". 😂😂😂
I can relate, even if it only happens a couple of times, the morning you show up at the next sight, and realize you left something, can really ruin the day.

I've been looking forward to a new August video !!! The only downside is that 33.11 video seemed like 10 minutes 😂 Kinda like when you run into an old friend and you don't get to stay and visit long enough !!! Wish we could've seen more of that tree and looking forward to second part of the job !!! Another Great video August... Thank you so much for all the extra work an time you invest to take us along and teach us !!!!!

I did line clearance for a bit and I never knew anything but gaffing up a tree with (or without) your lanyard until you get to your tie in spot. I tried a set of geckos that has pole gaffs on them and I never got used to them. I always liked the Klein or Buckingham tree gaffs myself. I tell you what though....a good climber is a thing of beauty.... I just got the job done.

@@AugustHunicke My boys and I learn from you about the trees and climbing. I teach them what I can about cranes and rigging and engineering. Hopefully I can get a crane bed on my Freightliner chassis in a few years. I'm trying to set up my boys at an early age. Thus far we are having a ball with working on our own trees in TN. At 7 and 10 my boys sure make me feel old as they monkey around in the trees. But it is great to see them learn skills and responsibility while having fun.

Yet another great vid thank you August. Right now I do many contract climbing Wich is cool cause I don’t really gotta deal with all the headaches of being a business owner . The down side side is I work with a lot guys who are not tree guys so it the constant headache of not having great ground crew an constantly teach how to tie an untie a bowline lol you now all the basic greenhorn stuff an not trusting some guys to LET IT RUN anyway great vi thank u

  • @ShawnDRichman

As a former decent ground guy, and barely adequate climber, I’d like to thank you for constantly considering where the guys on the ground are before you fire up the saw. I had one foreman who wouldn’t cut for 5 seconds after he started the saw, but other than that, it was a free for all. You had 5 seconds to get out of the way, after that, it was on you while his saw was running and he was in the tree. (I also had a great foreman who was a climber for 20 years and was like a 170lbs squirrel- and he and I worked great together when I was his ground guy- both were fast, and both looked out for each other.) Point being- you know how dangerous the game is- and it’s nice to hear (because you couldn’t see in this case) you asking where your guys are and telling them to stay back before you fire up the saw.

Have the same spurs (including the aluminum shin guards lol)but not in love with how they hold in thin bark hardwood and even less so on the new pair I just got. Going to reprofile one of them. Although to be fair I don’t climb every day so half of it is just me but I know they could be made better. Love your content btw 👍🏼
