I have mine coming nxt week really looking forward to buzzn on shortwave with it .put up my first two antennas up bk so can't wait.cheers for the video btw another excellent 1 .thanks to ur time and Efforts Ged in Ireland 🇮🇪
MW is excellent - a station on every 9 kHz step, just as it should be 👍🏻. An 8 kHz bandwidth on AM is such a cool feature, especially considering those powerful Chinese stations broadcasting at 10-20 kHz on SW; it's a must nowadays. Once again, congratulations on getting the (most) proper TEF6686 receiver 🆒.

..if these TEF6686 audio car chips are so difficult to obtain and expensive to manufacture, then STOP fabricating the other Silicon Lab chips and make ONLY these or something akin to these! So as not to liable for copyright violation lawsuits..?
No signs of a shortage of those on Ali~. It's just a matter of recent adoption in portable radios. It's probably just the second year after small Chinese manufacturers got their hands on the TEF6686. With a dozen models ranging from 43 to 136 bucks, it's becoming overhyped. Price is not the only factor - this architecture is power-hungry compared to SI473* chips, and the advantages are not that much dramatic.
The problem here is if I import using ALiexpress, it will cost me 2.5-3 times the cost of xhdata D-808, which I dont think its worth it. Btw, how much does this receiver last on a full battery charge. Any idea?@@barmaley-division
@Reillyswl That's great to hear that the initial impression is positive in this regard as well. Perhaps, the difference between a max. of ~40 mA and a max. of ~21 mA doesn't make much of a difference in real-world usage scenarios. 👍🏻

I didn't know there was such a problem with the nxp chips. So thats the reason why these incredible hardware doesn't feature in more radios.

No sign of it being "power Hungry" in this radio. Intial operation suggests battery life is good.
