    A friend of ours that lives in Waco, had a 2006 Goldwing Trike and couldn't ride it anymore and then let it sit for a few years. He told my wife if she wanted it, to come and pick it up and take it home. Giving it to us for free, we couldn't pass that up so in March we drove from So. Calif. to Waco and spent a couple of days with our friends and picked up the trike. It didn't run so we brought a trailer. We left Waco and was headed to Little River Academy where we have more friends. On the way there they told us to stop at Buc-ees and we did. That was in Temple, Texas. I was really amazed at how BIG that place was. I took lots of pictures. If they had those out here in California, they would be busy too. Great video. I like riding those out of the way roads with very little traffic. Would love to see more videos of you exploring roads in Texas. Ride Safe.

      @@David-yp4fl We went through everything. The tires were over 10 years old and the air filter had a mice nest in it. The bike was completely serviced, all fluids changed, and all buttons and controls checked. Fork seals done and brake/clutch fluid flushed. Bike is ready to ride at least 5,000 miles without any service to be done. The bike only has 46,000 miles on it. I would say with the hotels, gas, and getting the bike serviced, it cost us about $3,000.00. Not bad for a $20,000 Trike!

    Mount and dismount from the highside. Place your right foot on the right footboard, stand up and put your left leg over the seat as you sit down

    I would encourage you to visit an ortho Dr. I have some experience with this. I remember it was bothering you before the accident. Sounds like arthritis which has been aggravated by the fall.

    One hour later and I've been wrestling with the chin strap of my brand new Neotec 2 helmet. I am what the nice lady at the parts department called "well loved" and it took me an hour... oh boy, brisket!!.. to extend it to its max length. By then it had clouded over, which means the rain is coming. NZ has become rather waterlogged this winter with many regions suffering. Totally enjoy Cruiseman's content. I do get jealous of the prices you pay in the US, not only for your bikes but all the parts and accessories, not to mention your gas prices. Our prices are going up 25% at the end of the month due to government hiking the petrol tax. Yes folks, gas is petrol here, and gas is what the cowboys had in the campfire scene in "Blazing Saddles."

    I used to ride out in that area about 25 years ago. Around Celina, Pilots Point, Gunter and Van Alstyne it was perfect. Nothing but old farm houses and wind mills. You had to watch out for tractors and hay trucks, but other than that, it was nothing but fields, switchbacks twisties, hills and highway. Now, it's rapidly becoming over-developed.

    • @roadglide
      @roadglide ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear you Longrider188. But still beautiful areas. Those old Main streets and the quaintness of small town feel has largely been kept. Updated and improved, yes. Much for good, some as you mention, the population boom and all that goes with it. Early morning rides and visits still offer much of the greatness about these areas. IMHO. Life rolls on and so do we. Peace

    It's the middle of winter here in NZ but we've had a break in the constant rain. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who uses the "grab the pants leg" technique of mounting a Goldwing. Mine's a GL1500SE trike. My spinal stenosis put paid to riding on two wheels. I'm off for some ride therapy before the next lot of rain.

    Good that you can get to a nice little ride in the DFW area . Not quite as nice as your rides in Rice Lake, but then, you didn't have to travel as far to get to them. Don't see how you can tolerate that 90+ heat, even with a mesh jacket. White helmet probably helps in deflecting heat so your brain doesn't boil. Glad there didn't seem to be many traffic stops along the way. Good luck with your hip

    Re: hip pain after mounting the MC - what seems to work for me is standing up on the footpegs for a few seconds, then sitting back down. That seems to get everything back in alignment (?), and I'm good usually for the rest of the day. Good luck...

    I live in southwest Carrollton. I take 35 to Denton, then find my way to 455 and take it to 75. When I take the wife, we like to stop at Lucy’s on the square in Celina for brunch.
    I would love to learn of anymore fun scenic rides in the DFW area. I know there’s an app Calimoto, that maps the fun route, but I wish Google, Apple and Waze would offer entertaining route options as well.

    Not good that you're having right hip pain. I had to switch from cruiser type motorcycles to more up-right bikes like the Honda ST1300,, and eventually the Gold Wing. Had a right hip replacement in 2019. 99 With humidity would be bad. 99 out in Utah with our humidity levels is doable...

    Your definitely braver than I when you pulled off the shoulder of the highway,even with your “E” flashers on. My tendency is pull my GW off and program my devices where I can see traffic from both directions. Your probably a well seasoned rider,but where you were stopped on the shoulder would be asking to get rear ended…Too many distracted chicken brains out there. Good call on the prediction of the white SUV cutting you off.

      Make sure that your phone is not paired to the motorcycle via Bluetooth, only plugged in to the USB. Pairing your phone to the GPS may also cause some interference with CarPlay, I have not fully tested that yet. Use CarPlay for phone calls, texts, etc. not the Garmin.
