Ashley isn't just tolerable in Remake, many players miss her when she's gone. Her dynamic with Leon and her voice actress put in work to make her less of a whiney brat and more of a strong, yet sensitive young woman who gains confidence the more she's around Leon. Plus her solo section is 100% improved
"I've been thinking... we work well together, don't we?" I hope resident evil 9 is based around Leon and Ashley as a Chris/Sheba-like duo. After Ashley learns some basic knife safety, of course.
I was actually just playing through one of the numerous sections where she gets kidnapped 😂 and the whole time I was thinking how I missed her. Unlike the original Ashley, she makes you WANT to save her instead of making your whole mission feel like a chore. She’s obviously not super helpful as a companion since she’s probably had a sheltered and coddled upbringing, but she’s very eager to help Leon when she can, and she’s witty and caring as well. I really do hope that she becomes a recurring character and they make her even more badass as Leon’s partner. Plus, she’s a far more compelling love interest than Ada. The “princess” of the strongest country on the planet gets kidnapped and falls in love with her knight in shining armor, it’s storybook. And let’s not forget… jiggle physics 😂
@@FGTRTD24I would love to see more lore surrounding Hound Wolf Squad. If they could blend those characters into a series where the enemies feel just as difficult as playing with a truly solo character... That'd be excellent. Then again, I also love FPS "tactical" shooters. So I've been searching for the perfect melding
To be fair cv should've been remade first considering it came out b4 re4 and re4 had a remaster already out but of course Capcom just saw dollar signs when fans kept clamoring for re4 remake.
"3make" was a big disappointment, but at least I finished it. I quit Village before I even finished the castle. Hated it. Such a let down after playing RE7, the first RE game I ever played. But the remakes for RE2 and RE4 made this my favorite franchise.
@@TheCorkingCork there is a difference between being an inspired by something successful and being a rip off. Resident Evil Village isn't a rip off because they're made by the same company. Village was inspired by 4 and and it had it's own identity. If you want an example of a rip off look at Star Wars the force awakens, and before anyone starts let me say that force awakens is a rip off because that movie wasn't made by George Lucas. Sure Star Wars is owned by Disney and Lucasfilm did produce the film but it's still a rip off because that movie wasn't made by the original creator and Disney scrapped his ideas of a sequel trilogy.
@@norwegianblue2017 Shidd I don't like either games. I'm glad I didn't buy Re8. Shit looked like a ripoff of 4. Re4 and Re4 Remake are leagues above it in every possible way. Besides graphics for the original Re4. Ethan was cringe and wouldn't shut tf up. They also put all of their marketing into Lady D to get horny people to buy their game. Then they kill her early asf😂. Then 3 Remake is an okay game but garbage Remake.
Ive never found anything more terrifying and scary than the doors opening while the system loaded the next room in the original Resident Evil. It always got really quiet, you can hear all the sounds of the forest around you, the dog zombies howling in the background, the grandfather clock ticking, and the door itself creaking open. It always built up the fear and the worry of not onowing what was behind the door
Resident Evil is a huge favorite series of mine and for the most part the games are pretty great. (Most of them) I particularly love Re1 remake, both versions of re2, re3 original, both versions of re4, revelations 2, and 7 the most.
regardless of what your favorite is, can we just be glad that RE didnt die after the release of 6? so many franchises have committed die over the years but not RE. it keeps on getting up, just like a zombie
My dad was in rehab (he’s been sober I think like over a decade now) when I was a child and brought me RE5 for my 360 he picked up at a flea market. He got to go home and what not on weekends. Every weekend hed come home and we’d play co-op RE5 and mercenaries all the time. Beat the story several times. It’s my favorite for this reason
Why… why didn’t you separate the remakes from the originals? OG 3 is SOOOO vastly different from the remake and doesn’t deserve to be ranked alongside it
Yeah I would understand if they were just remasters but they're actually different games. Putting the remakes and the revelations 1/2 together but mentioning a ton of mobile games and the wii games separately is a choice.
@@vitorf2303 Re4R is the worst of the REmakes _by a lot._ As much as Re3R does or doesn't keep from the original, it doesn't completely rewrite the personalities of its characters in the way Re4R does, nor does it steal plot points from other works (no, really, look it up: Krauser's backstory in the REmake is _Clear and Present Danger_ with the serial number filed off). The only thing Re4R has going for it is graphics and even that doesn't really work because the damn crosshair isn't lined up with where the guns are pointed.
A tactical rpg horror game sounds like a lot of fun. I know fear and hunger nailed that aspect with it's combat and tactically cuttings off enemy limbs. Would love to see more of it :D
Parasite Eve 1 is kind of that. It uses an ATB system. But you can freely move in combat. Parasite Eve 2 did away with it though and was more like resident evil in that it had more action based combat.
Agreed. I haven’t played 4 remake yet but I heard many great things. Re2 remake is also very good which makes me wonder how they screwed up so bad with Re3 remake
I don’t understand why RE2 Remake gets so much praises when they went lazy halfway through that game and didn’t even properly adapt the scenario A & B the same way as the much better Original Second Game
@@POKEFAN023Re3 remake is fine if you never played the og game. And if you look at it as a dlc. I got it for 15€ and never played the og : I had fun with it tbh he is my least favorite re engine game but it wasn't bad ! I'm currently playing a second playthrough to platinum it after finishing all mainline game and tbh 5 and 6 are worse than 3 remake. And I liked 6 a bit more than 5 too
I actually preferred Village over 7, since 7's monsters ended up feeling a bit too samey after a while, and I loved the resolution of Ethan's character arc. I can probably say he's my favorite of the Resident Evil MCs, but I have a weak spot for people who go absolutely berserk when their family is threatened.
yeah Resident Evil 7 was the scariest game in my opinion buy I found myself getting bored very often. 8 had it's scares and wasn't close to the scariest but the game was way more fun.
I'd disagree about the enemies. Sure they do suck in 7, but that game is built around atmosphere and puzzles more than gameplay. However, Village doesn't have either of those going for it, and since it's trying to be like 4, it has very disappointing enemy encounters. The lycans were a cool concept but they didn't do much with them, and they were barely in the game, and whatever those vampire things in the castle and factory were are honestly awful enemies.
What do you mean "actually"? RE7 was a one note game that totally fumbled the rock in the 2nd half. Zero enemy variation, terrible pacing, and boring, slow gameplay. Village improves on every facet.
IMO, the big problem dragging down Mercenaries 3D was the equippable skills. There was a very clear best build in the game, so there wasn’t much reason to experiment with them. And they took AGES to level up and bring to max power.
There are other issues too, it suffers from the same problem Re4R's Mercs has where the maps are shrunk and a lot of weapons aren't available for memory reasons (they nerfed Rebecca into oblivion by removing her flamethrowers, for instance).
I went into this list thinking it was either the main games only, maybe plus the spin-offs but you even mentioned games even hardcore fans probably haven't heard of. This was short but sweet for all the ones you covered & briefly speak your opinion.
I’ve been waiting for Rabbidluigi to post resident evil ranking after the RE4R. Thank you for providing a lot of entertainment for me over the years! Keep doing this sh*t!
the RE1 remake is still the best (in my opinion). It was their best execution of a remake and it is enjoyable to replay many times without getting bored of it.
The original REmake is the only one I'd say is unequivocally better than the original; Re2R is solid, Re3R is too short but offers some improvements over the original, and Re4R tries to be Re6, badly, and retcons most of the characters to make them cheap copies of better works. I wish we'd gotten Re2R instead of the original Re4, since it would've stood a better chance of being a great game like its predecessor, but I'm all for no more REmakes if they keep making them like Re3R and Re4R.
It would be more fun if there weren’t so many puzzles. That’s the only thing that’s keeping me from replaying it a lot, and getting stuck with the controls at times like running into the wrong direction or getting stuck on something. Other than that it’s a great game
I’ve only played the mainline games, so I can’t fairly agree or disagree with your list. But for me, personally, Village is my all time favorite, with 7 being a close 2nd. I know not everyone likes the first person perspective, but for me it worked so well. I had given up on these games after 6. On a whim, I saw 7 on GamePass and thought I would give it a try…..I’m so glad I did. It is easily the scariest in the series. I loved Ethan’s story, and how it ended up tying in with the other games. When Village was released, I downloaded it immediately, and fell in love the gothic horror vibes, and the similarities to RE 4. I’ve played it through multiple times, and the love they gave it with the Winters Expansion, allowing it to be played in over the shoulder mode, was a fans dream. Capcom has really given some life to the series with all the remakes they have been doing, but Village is the one I have spent the most time with.
@@grapehool I’ve played them both, but my memory of the RE3 Nemesis is a little fuzzy. I remember renting it from my local video store back in 99’. I had to lightning finish it in a weekend, because I was 13 and only had the money to rent it once. 😆 The remake I played a year or so ago. It was a little on the short side, and I know they cut stuff out, but I enjoyed it.
Resident Evil is better in 1st person. For horror, your best options are 1st person (the recent entries) or fixed (the original trilogy). 1st person makes you feel more like you're there and the monsters get right in your face, and fixed has the advantage of being able to be more cinematic. Over the shoulder third person removes the cinematic angles, but also lacks the advantages of first person. Because shooting things is so important in RE, it HAD to move away from fixed, which now only really works with adventure game horror, like Until Dawn. This makes 1st person the best option for modern RE. I really think most who prefer it, it is because it is what they grew up with and what they are used to, so first person feels too "different" to feel like a true RE game to them.
@@ShawnMenchacaI agree with it not feeling like resident evil. You could take the name resident evil out of it and it would be a good horror game. Although I thought it was better than village
Remake is way better than OG I'm sorry. The OG drags on for WAY too long and makes the game unenjoyable. RE4R fixes all of the issues Original had and makes it into its own.
@@bepohal pls don't take this personally or offensively as i've seen many people state this, but i don't fully understand it when someone says something like "it's good but a bad RE game". I see this mainly with 4, 5, 6, and maybe 8, etc. But if people actually consider 4 to be a "bad RE game", then what exactly is an RE game? Literally the franchise is based off of surviving against zombies, or other infected bow's. And in retrospect, that hasn't changed. The only thing that changes mainly between the games is gameplay obviously. Basically what i'm trying to get at is besides the ps1 and GameCube titles, is it fair to consider the following (more modernized) games, bad RE games? The game has to switch it up every now and then.
@@SyrisDuhVyris i'm not taking it personally or anything else ,besides that you wrote very respectful. here's the issue with RE4: people who state that the franchise was "evolving" clearly don't know the term or using it wrong (no offense to you ofc). what really evolved were things like the camera from fixed to 3rd person to first person, the quick turn, the aiming mechanism with the critical hit chance and the crafting system. RE4 was not an evolved game but a completely different game/genre. instead of a survival horror game it became an easy action horde shooter with almost 0 horror elements; no horror atmosphere; more ammo and guns in the first third of the game so you could beat the game twice without picking up any further bullet; no item management since you had an attaché case where you can fit a whole appartment in it; one-shot-boss weapons which are cheap and you could buy them as often as you want; no puzzles (except the cemetary one) which was a huge part of RE; a merchant who doesn't fit in this universe and completely misses the point of a survival horror game; no real RE lore; and technically unlimited ammo since enemies drop bullets, especially the lower you get. it is coded that way. even RAVENS drop grenades and ammo. the game didn't "evolve" but a completely different title just got an RE stamp on it. RE4 was developed to compete with CoD, sales numbers wise. that's why it was made for casual gamers and kids, who are by far the largest number of gamers. it is rated R but everyone knows that the lobbies are full of kids. RE4, 5, 6 & 8 lack all those OG things while 7 was an excellent RE game
7 is quite a bit better than Village in my opinion, at least on the horror elements and atmosphere. Village was very fun, but leaned more heavily towards action/fantasy
Outbreak File 2 was less of an expansion I feel and more of a sequel since they did add things like the ability to move and shoot at the same time. Out of all the bullshit they have done with things like Re:Verse and Umbrella Corps, I just wished we could get a modern take on the outbreak games since I thought they were rather good.
when he said "you should make a gaming franchise out of this!" my mind went to History of the entire world I guess' joke "You can make a religion out of this!"
I have an idea for a mobile game. Instead of trying to make a mainstream RE game, have it theme like a Victor Frankenstein. Making different type of monsters and mutants to sell to gain more resources and funds to make stronger experiments. I even have an idea on how the bio engineering mechanics could work.
I tried replaying it again recently and it's really bad honestly. I wish I could like it but it feels like a carbon copy of RE4 and I don't normally complain about graphics because Uncharted 1 has bad graphics but it's still enjoyable but the Graphics in RE5 actually reek and it feels like I'm just looking at shit the whole time. Tank controls and graphics are the only reasons I can't play this game for more than an hour.
@@darius-og Like I said. I don't normally complain about graphics since they don't determine how good a game is but there are limits to this and my eyes can't stand Re5 graphics. Even RE0 and Re1 Remake have better graphics and they are way older then Re5
0:15 Your "House Bad!", joke here, is a big fail. For it to make sense, the series would have to be called, "Residence Evil". "Resident Evil" would be an evil that is present in that location. Or, the evil that resides there.
Re6's big issue is it tries to be too many things at once: it needed to be parsed down to just Leon's story, with Chris, Jake, and Ada getting unlockable side stories later.
I'd put 7 at the top simply because of what it did for the franchise after 6. It literally saved capcom and introduced the RE engine, which was then used in all their other titles from then on.
@@ShawnMenchacafirst person is what compliments the horror survival genre the most. 3rd person is outdated because it‘s clumsy and you block your own FOV. also, you have a 360 angle view all the time so you can see zombies behind corners and behind yourself tho running forward. it completely takes the thrill and is counterintuitive to the genre
@bepohal 3rd person isn't out dated. Tons of games are in 3rd person. It's superior if you ask me. 1st person has a handicapped peripheral vision, while 3rd person peripheral is heightened. And actually getting to see your character is a great bonus!
_Outlast With Guns_ was such a saving throw for Capcom they've done nothing but backpedal ever since: the REmakes play more like the action games and Re8 has a third person DLC. Re7 got normies and TH-camrs to play the game, but it's easily the safest and most boring game in the franchise, borrowing from every other horror IP it could while jingling keys to pretend it belongs in the rest of the franchise. Seriously, when your game's art direction is so bad the main character can show up so off-model at the end entire conspiracy theories grow up around him _not_ actually being Chris, there's a problem.
The disrespect on resident evil 6 putting that below a mobile game is just horid bro its really not bad i played it with my friend for the first time 2 week ago and it was amazing
Good list. For me personally I would rank 6 above 5 and 3 for sure. I think for me the order is 1 2 veronica 4 7 revelations 6 mercenaries 3 5 ( didn't play 8 yet ). This is based on how I remember feeling at the time I played them. I wish I had the time and energy to play them all through in one sitting now sequentially but that sounds exhausting lol.
Nice list! Personally RE2 Remake is the greatest RE game ever made! It is the Gold standard of RE games. Re 4 remake is definitely the 2nd best! I really enjoyed ‘RE’ 7 and 8 but we all know that these are in no way a resident evil game. RE 7 was really the hills have eyes and RE 8 was RE4 meets Castlevania. True resident evil games are about zombies. They went off the rails when they started adding, black venom like people, werewolves, and vampires, machine people, and weird bosses (not a T-virus zombie or boss in sight). I’m not sure what capcom was thinking! RE 2 remake was such a refreshing take back to the zombie filled city we all fell in love with. I hope that they remake RE 0, 1, and Code Veronica through the RE engine, now that will be amazing.
Yeah, RE1 was single-handedly responsible for popularizing zombies in video games, but zombies have been done to death in the decades after. People are really tired of zombies at this point, so moving to other types of enemies was a sensible thing to do.
@@independentthought3390 And that’s fine just don’t call it resident evil because 4-8 definitely are not. Only 1- code Veronica is legit resident evil.
Ashley in re4 vr is the worse because if shes to close to you, you cant even pull out a gun or explosive of any kind also she will stop moving at random times and you have to open the inventory than close it so she moves again but the game is still super fun
Resident Evil 6 needs some love. Leon's campaign in one of the best Resident Evil's in the series. Chris' campaign is a good Mass Effect. Jake's campaign is a good action game. Ada's campaign connects the stories fully.
Re6 has the best Mercenaries and combat in the franchise, and Capcom is slowly but surely inching its way back to that after getting scared off because critics were bad at it. The game doesn't rely on adaptive difficulty to be hard and it doesn't need to hold your hand to make you feel badass, it just _is_ and you can figure out how to engage with that or cry about it having too many QTEs. It's the only game in the series where the fights are genuinely fun, rather than something the game just throws at you while complaining it has to go through the motions.
People always conveniently forget that _Resident Evil_ was an action movie spoof hardware limitations accidentally turned into a survival horror game. it was meant to be a DOOM-clone, it's not that deep.
Code Veronica is the one RE game that Capcom should have remade this year. RE4's remake is good but RE4 is just one of those timeless games that didn't need a remake. The fact that there are still thousands playing it on Steam despite the remake being out, says something.
Pleasantly surprised RE3 remake was as high as it was. I know people were disappointed and all, and it absolutely could’ve been better, but for all im worth, that game is the most fun I've had playing a Resident Evil game in a decade. I'm not an OG resident evil fan so that might have had something to do with it, but i love the dodge and the compact campaign.
I thought the game was great also. It's more action/arcade and less of a dungeon crawl, but it's super fun. It's a bit short, but who cares. Just play it again!
It's faithful in a lot of ways. It's puzzles, the tense action, the set pieces. But obviously shifts perspectives and arguably makes it more horror focused. And of course updates the story which is a given for a modern game. But overall it takes enough of the original to make it recognizable and a call back while improving on some things. The only thing it loses is the true carry over between the A and B runs
@@CrazeeAdam There's more aside from the missing A/B scenarios. There was also the "zapping" system, or the way in which the 2 different scenarios would interact with one another that was completely removed. (i.e. Leon does something in Scenario A that would reflect what Claire experiences in Scenario B.) Not only that, but the lack of 2 different scenarios between Leon and Claire creates inconsistencies and plot-holes that didn't exist back in OG. Enemies from the original game were also callously removed (spiders, crows, etc.) for no good reason. The original soundtrack wasn't recreated at all. Base game has so little soundtrack, instead opting for you to pay for added DLC content to get the original game's soundtrack plastered over the entire game. (Kinda shady if you ask me.) All in all, it was still a great game, but I think people are confusing the difference between if it was a great game or a great remake. Because the latter kinda...sends me through a few hoops whenever I hear it.
@@ShawnMenchaca I mean, RE2make is technically a better game than OG, I won't really deny that. But it's still worth it to return to OG RE2 if nothing else but to experience some of the pieces of that game's mechanics that weren't done justice in the remake. It's not like OG RE2 is even a bad game to begin with anyway.
my top re game would have to be 7 and that might be because it's where i started with this franchise and that's why it has a special place in my heart but i think it's just that for me the horror in the game is so well done with a fantastic and tragic story of a normal family being overtaken by an evil entity. One more thing that i prefer in re 7 over every other is the boss fights. for some reason they just feel so special.
Outstanding list, my friend. Your top 3 is indeed my top 3 as well. Code Veronica was the first RE title I ever played. Sometimes i wonder how the hell I beat it back in the day. But RE2 became my favorite after that. I have a guilty pleasure for VIILage since capcom added the 3rd person update. and no words can explain how much I love both versions of RE4. the RE franchise have had their highs and really lows, but it’s easy to tell which games are superior. 👌🏼
It's the most faithful of the RE Engine REmakes. Given what Re3R and Re4R did to their stories though that's damning with faint praise, it's only good when compared to far worse games. It's still the only RE Engine game I think actually captures the feel of _any_ of the games, though; it's one of my favorites in the series even though I much prefer the original.
@AJadedLizard I think 4 is by far the most faithful and well done remake of the re engine ones. But I do agree that 2r captures the feel of classic re the best of the modern games. Which is why it's my favorite in the series.
@@Z-Mikes00 Re4 was my first game in the series, and Re4R just has no respect for anything about that game. It sterilizes the dialogue and it changes everyone's motivations in ways that make them worse, with the except of Saddler, who is at least somewhat compelling. In place of "You carry the same blood as us, it seems. Nevertheless, if you become _unpleasant to our eyes_ you'll face severe _consequences"_ we got "Your blood has accepted the gift." We get a version of Ada who thinks so little of Leon she believes showing a little leg is enough to make him abandon his mission and help her...because? (Ada from Re4R would've shot Leon and taken the G-Virus in Re2R and not even felt bad about it). We get a version of Luis who _worked for Umbrella_ because the world is actually super small and Re4 not being connected directly to the old games was something people have whined about the last 20 years. Luis _worked on Nemesis,_ by extension meaning he worked on the T-Virus, meaning everything that happened in the first few games is partially his fault. (100,000 people died in the most horrific way possible because of you, no, I'm not sad you died, I hope it hurt a lot). Also, we get a version of Jack Krauser who just willingly joined the cult because...he's mad at America? I genuinely am not sure if the game handles Ada or Krauser worse; they're both poorly written, both incredibly out of character, and both have some of the worst vocal performances in the game to boot. Krauser's dynamic with Leon in the original game and DC was one of my favorite parts of the character and here they just spend all their screentime professing their hatred, until Leon kills him and Krauser predictably uses his last words to suck his own dick. I contrast that with what Re2R and 3R did with one-off characters like Marvin, Kendo, and Brad, all of whom are incredibly compelling in their games. I don't even think Re3R is particularly good and it still made me sad when _Brad Vickers- died saving Jill.
@@AJadedLizard re4 was my into too (full on gamecube ver btw) and tbh i never really gave much of a shit about the story and still dont. the camp was neat tho. re4r i think actually tried to do something with its story and i overall welcomed it. i understand why fans of the og arent as welcoming of it which is fair (tho im not a fan of the people treat 4r as some souless game that never deserved any of its praise and is a victim of toxic positivity. that's ff7 remake lol (tho rebirth wasnt bad, despite its shit narrative choices)). i always found myself more invested in the gameplay and mechanics of the re games. story doesnt really matter much to me. if it did then rev 1, CV, and 2r would be ranked lower for me as rev 1 and cv are A tier for me. my only real issues with 4r is how awful aiming feels on controller and how tanky enemies get in the late game.

I don't really agree with your ranking of the 1 remake but I like that you ranked CV so high as most people don't like it very much. I LOVE that you rank the OG and remakes in the same place as they do infact stand alongside the originals in quality at least. I also like how you actually ranked ALL the RE games instead of just the popular ones unlike some people. Overall you had a very good list.
@@weedragonauts4729 Somewhere higher than 4, It's not my favorite RE game (probably top 3 or 5) but I think it's the best RE remake 4 is very close though.
REmake is easily the number 1. It's THE Resident Evil game. Better and more proper then ever. The way it's played, the way it's presented, the way it progresses. The everything. That is how Resident Evil is supposed to be played. The ideal way of seperating those who truly do play Resident Evil from those who just THINK they like playing Resident Evil-licensed games. Code: Veronica X is a close second. No hard feelings, Kamiya-san, RE2 is great with it's scenario system, but there is something beautifully twisted about Code: Veronica.
ok no. Resident evil 6 was a lot of fun. I had a more enjoyable time playing that with a friend than 5 that is for damn sure. 6 had a ton of content and mixed it up rather well. It probably isn't as good playing just by yourself, but it is leagues better than 5.
I didn't want to play 5, but it seems like I am forced to play just to unlock the Lost in Nightmares DLC. I heard that DLC has more focus on survival horror than action.
In my opinion village is better than 3 in terms of a finished game. I also just preferred village. Re 2 already exceeded my expectations so 3 was useless to me, but it doesn’t mean it’s a bad game
RE4 and the remake can never be #1 on the list It shifted the franchise away from horror and into goofy Action round house kicking/german suplexing to your fav brock Lesnar impersonation All hail re2 and remake re1 remake !

How did Resident Evil bottom out in 2016? It just released the remaster of Resident Evil 1 that sold so well it saved the company from potential bankruptcy. Then a year later the money kept coming in with Seven.
Am I the only one who wants a 5 and 6 remake lol I feel like they can’t get any worse 5 wasn’t bad just wasn’t scary 6 needs prayer but I feel like it had potential
Yeah man, RE5 was the first I played and to be honest even tho it wasn't "scary" I really enjoyed it and had tons of fun with my brother, honestly if they do end up making a remake I hope they don remove coop campaign since it was honestly one of the main reasons I played it, it would be Soo fun to replay it and not have to stop to point and shoot lol
unpopular opinion: resident evil 6 was actually SUPER fun to play and had memorable new characters. i would love to see them bring back the characters in a more horror based resident evil in the format of the remake games. seeing the return of helena jake and especially the continuation of piers (i still have hope he’s alive) i feel like they could have a really developed storyline as long as it’s not crammed into the same game.
I wish there was one, just literally 1 youtuber that didnt take a cheap potshot at 6 for likes. Game was value for money and so much in it, plenty to like in it but despite the amount of the content anyone who makes a Resident Evil video always always has to spend time trashing 6
Did I miss RE0? It probably my favorite of the classic style resident evil games before 4. I think gets more hate then should and wish could see it remade.
Dunno if I’d personally put RE3 remake over RE8, since while it’s admittedly a fun and polished game and I don’t necessarily hate it, it practically butchers the original by removing half the areas and live-choice selection system, and reducing a relentless pursuer like Nemesis to nothing but scripted segments and boss fights. Whereas RE8 is just as fun and polished, but is also able to stand strong on its own without being an inferior version of a previous game. And RE8 also isn’t a game with barely any replayability that you can beat in 5 hours, since I’ve only beaten it twice, but cleared through RE8 four times. Again, I don’t hate the RE3 remake, but it’s clear that the devs cut corners with it to have it out only a year after the much-better RE2 remake. Then again, RE8 is one of my favorite modern REs, only behind RE2 and RE4 remake. But the other rankings I can certainly agree with, especially with both versions of RE4 being at the top spot.
Before the remake I would’ve put 2 above 4 but they fixed every small issue I had with the original RE4 in the remake. What a great game honestly. I would’ve switched 5 and 6 personally bc while 6 can be enjoyed in single player to a certain degree, 5 is basically unplayable. It’s the only main title RE game that I just couldn’t force myself to sit through the AI and the lack of interest I had in the characters and setting going in made it one of my least favourite games of all time.

"I've been thinking... we work well together, don't we?"
I hope resident evil 9 is based around Leon and Ashley as a Chris/Sheba-like duo.
She may have been annoying in the original but at least she was memorable. The remake makes her and pretty much all of the cast boring as hell.
also she's a mouse which is an improvement.
man shes so annoying. moaning the entire gawdam way.

No, village is literally a resident evil 4 ripoff

I just like the fact that RE 8 has a third person mode now. It kinda feels like Re4 meets the brothers grimm.
I can't even express how much I dislike Village but good for you
I'd disagree about the enemies.

Immensely glad the Code Veronika (X, in my case), gets the recognition it deserves. Gem of a game
the RE1 remake is still the best (in my opinion).

Honestly for me Resident Evil 7 is my fav just because I love the horror and spooky aspect more than the action

The only thing that changes mainly between the games is gameplay obviously. @@SyrisDuhVyris i'm not taking it personally or anything else ,besides that you wrote very respectful.
here's the issue with RE4:
people who state that the franchise was "evolving" clearly don't know the term or using it wrong (no offense to you ofc). what really evolved were things like the camera from fixed to 3rd person to first person, the quick turn, the aiming mechanism with the critical hit chance and the crafting system.

0:15 Your "House Bad!", joke here, is a big fail. For it to make sense, the series would have to be called, "Residence Evil". "Resident Evil" would be an evil that is present in that location. Or, the evil that resides there.
RE6 had some good mechanics but the game doesn't really tell you how to use them and they could've benefited from a bit more polish
Switching to first person was a mistake to me. Leave resident evil in 3rd person!

Revelations not having co-op in story (and Revelations 2 not having online co-op) is a crime. Raid Mode is very solid.
Kinda disagree with the placement of Code Veronica X. By no means do I hate the game, I just wasn’t expecting it to be placed so high
True that. I would give it number 27 or something. That game is so bad and not fun to play and especially to replay. Fuck that metal detector.
Finally a review that doesn’t just favor or bias off of nostalgia a good and perfectly fair review
Bruh put RE Village and RE7 under RE3 remake and og games 💀
Code Veronica and Outbreak file #1 and #2 are in my heart, great games that no ones care about...
Where was Resident Evil 5 in the list?
I'd put 8 above seven, and 2-remake above original 4, but other than that, pretty spot on.
8 is an improvement over 7 in every way
@@EddieFreak Not in VR, 7 scared the @hit out of me, and I am a full grown old man. And I am not alone
"Gives Resident Evil 6 the vibes of a summer blockbuster" dude, the previous ones were the same too.
People always conveniently forget that _Resident Evil_ was an action movie spoof hardware limitations accidentally turned into a survival horror game. it was meant to be a DOOM-clone, it's not that deep.
RE6 was a great game and I'll defend it until I die
She went from
“Um, excuse me”
to
“GET OUT OF THE WAY”
Code Veronica is the one RE game that Capcom should have remade this year.
"RE2make is so very faithful to the original."
* shudders uncontrollably *
(Kinda shady if you ask me.)
All in all, it was still a great game, but I think people are confusing the difference between if it was a great game or a great remake. Because the latter kinda...sends me through a few hoops whenever I hear it.
But not better than the original though
@@ShawnMenchaca I mean, RE2make is technically a better game than OG, I won't really deny that. But it's still worth it to return to OG RE2 if nothing else but to experience some of the pieces of that game's mechanics that weren't done justice in the remake. It's not like OG RE2 is even a bad game to begin with anyway.
You should rank xeno game series.
There's 8 total right? I would assume Xenosaga 2 would be bottom.
my top re game would have to be 7 and that might be because it's where i started with this franchise and that's why it has a special place in my heart but i think it's just that for me the horror in the game is so well done with a fantastic and tragic story of a normal family being overtaken by an evil entity.
Putting RE3 remake over Village is absoluteley disgraceful
Seeing light-gun games on here is weird. Ranking every light gun game would be fun since there are a lot to choose from haha
Cant wait for the re2 fans to lynch you for saying 2r was faithful. (I love 2r)
Nevertheless, if you become _unpleasant to our eyes_ you'll face severe _consequences"_ we got "Your blood has accepted the gift."
We get a version of Ada who thinks so little of Leon she believes showing a little leg is enough to make him abandon his mission and help her...because?
@@AJadedLizard re4 was my into too (full on gamecube ver btw) and tbh i never really gave much of a shit about the story and still dont. the camp was neat tho. re4r i think actually tried to do something with its story and i overall welcomed it. i understand why fans of the og arent as welcoming of it which is fair (tho im not a fan of the people treat 4r as some souless game that never deserved any of its praise and is a victim of toxic positivity. that's ff7 remake lol (tho rebirth wasnt bad, despite its shit narrative choices)). i always found myself more invested in the gameplay and mechanics of the re games. story doesnt really matter much to me. if it did then rev 1, CV, and 2r would be ranked lower for me as rev 1 and cv are A tier for me. my only real issues with 4r is how awful aiming feels on controller and how tanky enemies get in the late game.
rank based on what I have played.

LOVE to see the respect for Code: Veronica since it's my favorite game in the franchise. I really hope it gets the proper remake treatment soon.
Personally I like Resident Evil 1 Remake and original 3 above CVX but that's me.
Resident Evil Remake 1 is the perfect fixed camera angle classic resident evil in my heart. Game has aged like wine.
Resident Evil 3 Nemesis 1999 has the most challenging but rewarding gameplay of the series. Love the weapons, mechanics, and upgrades in that game.
CVX is a good game but I feel has aged like milk. Needs a remake for sure.
Anyone else still mad they remade RE4 before Code Veronica?
I'm still hoping that Code Veronica will be the next one.
I’m glad we got RE4R since it is a great game, but I certainly would’ve preferred if they did Code Veronica instead. Here’s to hoping that it gets the REmake treatment next, even if all signs are pointing towards RE5.
@@amirgarcia547 man, do we really need them to remake 5 and 6? 4 was kinda pushing it for me, but I liked it regardless. But for 5 and 6, I think we should leave them alone
Nah, I'm mad that Leon looks more ugly in the remake actually than his OG half self.
Words can't describe how excited I am to play RE4 Remake on PSVR2.
Zelda month in May let's go!
1.- Resident Evil 1 remake
2.- Resident Evil Code Veronica
3.- Resident Evil 2
4.- Resident Evil Village
RE8 is personally my favorite.
Lame
@@ShawnMenchacaYou lame people can hace differrent opinions

Ranked from worst to best (for me ofc)
.RE3 Remake - Trash
.RE6 - Entertaining Trash
.RE CV - Actually like the story but the gameplay...
.RE8 - Wasted Potential
.RE7 - good but you can tell i'm not the biggest "First Person" RE fan
.RE0 - Like the gameplay but trash story that should not be canon
.RE5 - Actually really liked the "Action" Era of RE and like this game alot. Zombies with guns is still not a good idea tho.
.RE: Revelations 1 & 2 - Great and underrated mixture of the action and horror era. Needs more love
.RE3: Nemesis - amazing, what can i say?
.RE2 & Remake - Both amazing but i actually prefer the OG
.RE4 & Remake - Both some of my favorite games ever made
.RE 1 Remake - Never even played the OG. I will try to some day but RE1 remake is THE RE game.
Code Veronica was amazing. Top 5
Overall you had a very good list.
where would you put Resident Evil 1?
Agreed
First time i seen code veronica so high on someones list
You did Resident evil 8 DIRTY
In my opinion village is better than 3 in terms of a finished game. I also just preferred village. Re 2 already exceeded my expectations so 3 was useless to me, but it doesn’t mean it’s a bad game
RE4 and the remake can never be #1 on the list
It shifted the franchise away from horror and into goofy Action round house kicking/german suplexing to your fav brock Lesnar impersonation
All hail re2 and remake re1 remake !
4 is easy number one by mile when comparing to re2 and 1. Skill issue much? Can't deal with honest reality? hmmmm
@Bartosz Skorupa haahahahahhahaha
Skill isssue ? RE4 is pretty darn easy friend
But its a list of favorites
I'm sure others would be different
Like any other series gets ranked
Just gotta agree to disagree
Resident evil was always Goofy what are you on about
I agree
How did Resident Evil bottom out in 2016? It just released the remaster of Resident Evil 1 that sold so well it saved the company from potential bankruptcy. Then a year later the money kept coming in with Seven.
I cant believe you put 5 and 6 below a no name mobile game
I loved it. I love the underwater areas and the giant monsters
I loved 6, but absolutely hated Helena Harper
@@peterwoods8299 helena was my fav side character 😭

Code Veronica above REmake? It should lose points for being frustrating.
I wish there was one, just literally 1 youtuber that didnt take a cheap potshot at 6 for likes. Game was value for money and so much in it, plenty to like in it but despite the amount of the content anyone who makes a Resident Evil video always always has to spend time trashing 6
Because no one liked besides a few people
ACTUALLY OPERATION RACCOON CITY IS NOT THAT BAD it connects the story of 2,3 some of the 0 and 1
Did I miss RE0?
Idk the hate for 3make I love that game, to each they own I guess.
I agree i remember the world of 5 feeling very empty and fake
@@JordetheArtist thank you I'm so glad someone at least somewhat knows what I mean.

I never played RE4 Remake but OG RE4 and Code Veronica are my favourite RE games. Is the Code Veronica on PS2 the same as the Dreamcast version? I saw Code Veronica and Code Veronica X
The PS2 version was a Director's Cut and had some graphical improvements and re-rendered cutscenes.
It's the best version of the game.
