@@Whitehalo117 I just rig one once I lose it I move on. It’s a pain to rig but it produces. Bubblegum zoom worm seems to work best for me believe it or not
I have the video you're talking about in my Watch Later 😊. Looks like a cool rig. Thanks for posting this. You're a natural teacher and we are lucky you take the time to post every day!
I am always amazed at what people come up with! Thanks for sharing, Definitely would want to rig a few of those up in the shop before hitting the water 😂
Put a small hook on the back weedless style instead of the split-ring and your hook up ratio will go up a good deal. Over 40% considering several fish will just grab the tail and then spit it out. You'll catch smaller fish as well but you won't lose as many big fish either though. You can put a nail weight in the end as well and it will help with the depth but changes the action a little but still works good.
Great video thanks! I watched the same Japanese video 2 weeks ago!... Instead of pushing the tubing through at a 90 degree angle, he pushed it through at a 60 degree angle... I believe it's the exact same Japanese guy but probably an updated video after he experimented a bit... He illustrates and explains why it is important to push the tubing through at a 60 degree angle rather than a 90 degree angle!... Believe me, that way the worm has way more action since the line glides through the worm with less resistance!... Thanks for the great video, you won yourself a new subscriber! 👍👍👍
Thought that too. Also, it seems like after 1 or 2 fish the worm would be completely destroyed. Feel this would work better with maybe a z-man style plastic.
Really cool, I’m sure that will catch those finicky fish. I like your idea of a second hook rather than the split ring, probably would help hookup percentages. Thanks for sharing.
A buddy of mine who is a trout fisherman called me this morning to tell me he just saw this rig as I was watching your video of it. Synchronicity. He wants to try it ice fishing this winter, in Maine. I'm going to try it for bass here before the ice. Thanks for sharing.
My issue with this rig is the free floating hook. I feel like on a good hook set you'll just tear the tubing out of the worm before you transfer enough energy to drive that hook. I could be wrong but that's what I feel like would happen.
Still best if all weight is at the front so inertia helps flex the worm. Rod pointed at the worm with slack taken up before setting with no stretch lines should bury that hook
It looks great but I don't know if I'd wanna take all that time to rig these up. Maybe if I had big fishing trip planned ahead it'd be worth it. For the weekend warrior it looks too time consuming.
the only thing i would do different is putting an o-ring right there where the hook is at instead of putting a hook right through the worm. This will probably save you tons of worms.
I also saw the initial video from Japan. I appreciate the genius behind this life like worm. I am looking for some surgical tubing tomorrow to set several different rigs. Thanks for breaking it down. Appreciate the assist, I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks!
I saw this yesterday on a Japanese fishing channel. The rigging looks a little complex. In the one I saw they rigged a Zoom Swamp Crawler. It looks like an inch worm or a mosquito larvae under water. The problem for me would be that I’d rig the thing and either make a bad cast and lose it, throw it into brush and lose it, catch a big ‘un and get broken off…and lose it. Good vid Matt. Go JDM only!
I saw this the other day but didnt click on the video, now that Im looking at it that is a Saucy RIG!!!! 100% Gonna try that immediately, the Japanese are the best I swear, so creative man.. It actually looks like its alive I just put it in my tank and OMG if I was a bass Id eat it even if I wasnt hungry lol
Many of you in the U.S. are already familiar with Neko rig. The word "NEKO" comes from the word "NEKO SOGI", which means takes everything, so Neko rig means catches all the fish. Now here's the important part. The word "NEKO" also means "Cat" in Japanese. And "Inu" means Dog in Japanese. The inventor of the "Inu rig" does not specify, but the name is probably a joke, using dog(Inu) for cat(neko). Many Japanese fishermen tell him that he should turn it into a business, but he says that he doesn't dare to patent it because he wants everyone to enjoy catching lots of fish.
hey Matt, looks like a very cool rig to try! I agree with you about putting a small Neko weight on the tail since that would actually allow more curl action. I also agree with the previous comment about using an O ring with the hook to save plastic. looks like definitely a new tool for bed fishing, and around docks. 👍
Yes, I noticed that also on the one I viewed. A 20 or 30 degree angle to encourage that 'S' shape coil. The hook was also set at the head of the worm & not down on the plastic tubing but I get why you would do it the way you showed in this vid👌
@@davekelly585 I saw another Japanese video yesterday using the same basic way of running the line through the worm, but the hook was on the tail end of the worm. Url is in Japanese, I couldn't figure how to copy it.
Thanks for the video I'm going to try that for sure it almost looks like the walking worm I ordered some of those and it moves with a flat piece of metal in there never caught anything with it but it sure looks good I think I would put a little small hook at the very end like you said great stuff today
I think that would be fire during the spawn, you could keep it pretty much in one place and let it do its work. Matt this could open up a bunch of possibilities! Thanks so much for sharing this.
My girlfriend made a lure just like this years ago. She would sit there and play with all my used soft plastics. She balled up worms and put line through them and said make it like a puppet on a string LOL. I never used it. Well, there it is!

Oddly enough the video you referred to showed up for me after watching another one of your videos. I was also intrigued and planed on rigging some up. Thanks for going through the setup in English 😊.
Watched a few vids on this and I think the problem is that all the weight of the fish loads down on the split ring because the hook is attached to the plastic not the line and is hard on the worm. I know functionally it needs that freedom. I feel like fish will destroy the bait in no time. I like your idea of putting a hook on the back. Then hopefully they load on that one. I might try adding that second hook and burying the front hook so it's out of play but still allows the freedom of line movement? Can't wait to try this.
Wonder how it would be on a three way swivel with a minimum of a foot leader to the worm and maybe a one foot dropper to the weight? Or even behind a Carolina rig?
Yes, I ran into this as well last week and had since made a dozen of them and went to the pier and caught all types of fish and people were wondering what I was using...making a long story short, I sold every single one I had for 10 bucks each....lol
I may have seen the same video you’re talking about. Thanks for showing how it rigs. Heading to the tackle room right now to put a couple of these together. Cheers 👍
would there be a reason not to tie your hook at where the split ring is and then when fighting fish the worm can slide down leader? would that help or hurt durability? (after spending the time to make it)
