Thank you! Have a blessed day!
Slow drag it across the bottom. It will slowly glide across the bottom mimicking a foraging baitfish. Throw it out, let it hit bottom, then slowly pull the rod tip up. It glides across the bottom perfectly. That’s a technique I use here in Canada for walleye, and it works fantastic.
Thank you I’m gonna do it too
Favorite lures for this method?
@@falsewhite9752 Anything with a flat bottom. My favourite is the berkley flat worm. It’s a bit tricky to get it on the hover rig, but man does it work. lol.
Surprisingly, Z man plastics go on fairly easy. I also like use the streakZ, and a super fluke jr.
Thank you for including the underwater footage. Makes a huge difference.
The underwater footage was absolutely needed to show how effective this presentation is..... great job steve... i will be getting some of those jig heads
Another video well researched!
Thank you!
Love the Hover rig❣️ Love the TUSH rig (next video!!!) and the Ozark rig. Matt and Johnny are really bringing forward new thinking on technique gear.
You mean the Japanese market is bringing these out... and the US is copying them....
Great video!!! Thanks for sharing how those retrieves work!! Been trying to figure out how to fish them but now I know how to use them!!!!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!! 🤠👍
Now to see if these tips help me catch even MORE FISH!!! I bet they will, because you just identified a major issue in my popping retrieve. Too tight of line! TY!!!
The slack definitely made a difference for me for sure. It was so interesting to watch the difference. Thank you for watching!
Steve is the King, i purchased these when they first came out, then again, i have about $160 bucks worth of core tackle. Thanks Steve
I'm loving this style of series. And that's awesome to see you do core tackles hover rig
Thanks! It really looks great in that mid-part of the water column.
I've been waiting a long time for this video and you knocked it out of the park! As someone who fishes mainly shallow water, I find that the "scoot" retrieve works best for me and gets tons of big bites.
I was definitely very impressed with the scoot. I can't wait to film it with a variety of lures. It is crazy how many people have asked for this one.
@@SteveRogersOutdoors I would love to see what a soft jerkbait rigged on its side looks like as that is how I mainly rig them. To me, at least, it looks like that flat side gives even more glide.
@@LowBrowFishing I would sure think so. I will have to try that.
Always the best content.
I've noticed that the bass (and crappies too) take this rig almost like they are hitting a live minnow. Meaning, they don't SLAM it.. Sometimes it gets hit like that for sure, but not often in my experience.
I have a much better hookup rate if I treat the hit like they are taking a live minnow, then setting the hook. Give them a second or two, then set it. Especially if you are using a scented bait.
This is great stuff! Thank you for adding this.
Love your content for the info contained within. My favorite thing you do is remind viewers to encourage someone. I try to introduce friends to fishing and responsible stewardship of our waterways.
When I get new lures, I enjoy giving away my older (still new)ish, lures.
This thing catches fish wherever I try it ! Doesn’t matter if it’s a river in Illinois or down in Florida it flat out catches them ! 👍👍 Great video Steve !
Thanks!
Looks. Dang good. That caffeine shad. I’m going too invest in a few packs.
Nice job. I picked up some different sized hover rigs and am looking forward to using them. Also picked up some core tackle tush swimbait hooks and ozark rigs. Fun fun fun. Thanks for the video. I needed some clarity on how to fish these hover rigs.
Your videos are really great!! Thanks for demonstrating this for us!!
My pleasure!
Great video Steve! Its nice to see that underwater footage of how baits look to the bass! Great job!
These are always fun to work on.
Great to see ya, Steve, and pray u are well. Now, let's see this hover rig
Hi Shannon! Great to hear from you. I know it's been a tough go here for a while now for you and the family. Pray everyone is doing well.
@@SteveRogersOutdoors thank u so much, Steve
Nice. Wonder if a small fluke like the strike king zman elastic does anything different.
I appreciate this video Steve. I have bought some of these but haven't used them too much. I have not tried them on a fluke style bait yet. I can see from the footage, that I am missing out! That action looks deadly. Thanks again for all your efforts Steve! Hope you and your family are wel.
Thank you! We are doing well. Good luck out there and let me know how it goes.
Great underwater footage as usual
Dang!!!!!! Looks good!!! I’ll invest in some of both. Good combination.
I was quite happy with it. Thanks for watching!
Might have to give this a go in the heat of the summer trying to get those suspended bass that seem to not want to chase anything.
That would be a perfect situation for it. Let me know how it goes for you.
I’ve only ever slow rolled my hover rigs and on elastec it kinda just sways side to side really nicely just wished the water near me was clean enough for it
You can stick the core hover rig hooks into elaztech baits? What bait you use
@@nathanjones7599 scented jerk shadz is probably my favorite or a diezel minnow
I like the looks of that.
I was quite happy with it. Definitely will be giving it a solid effort this season. Looking forward to some fall fishing with this setup as well.
I fish a hairjig the same way and it seems to work for me. Thanks
Do you go with braid to a flour leader of all braid or all flours\ocarbon?
I still haven't gotten any hoover rig jig heads yet. Next time I make an order from TW I will. What do you think best weight & hook size is for 3-4 inch baits?
I think those 1/16 ounce would be a great place to start. I also have the 1/32 as well.
Thanks Steve, did you have the bait rigged upside down?
I had the slit or pocket of the lure down same as if I had used a big 4/0 hook when rigging it. That is a great question!
I love your comment I really love Steve's addressing the issue I had the same question
Anyone's doing a double hoover rig like we do with double flukes? Or I think some people call them donkey rigs? I just call double fluke. Sometimes I put a paddle tail on the sliding bait or do a weighted hook main bait & weightless sliding bait so both have different rates of fall.
Would love to hear how you fish it if you’ve tried the okashira screw head
I've used the regular Okashira head, but not the screw head. I will have to try that. Thank you! I will try to do that soon.
Americans always thinking of new names to call a old rig.. amazed its not the kentucky hover strolling rig.. (cause u like to put a state on each rig also).
Lol. We do like to put state names in there. I have always wondered how that came about.
I tried this set up for the first time on a nikko zaza leech. The water was dirty and the wind was blowing so i threw on a zman colorado blade on the belly. I was proud of how creative i was but the fish were not impressed and didn't bite... 🦨
Livescope rig is what it’s really called.
