Hope you enjoyed today’s experiment. I just wanted to point out that some of these suggestions could work a lot better on SSS that are just drying out (opposed to ours that were completely dry rock solid). Thanks for all the suggestions 😊

BEAUTY NEWS i think you have to crush the shadows and then repress and use oil because the first one worked really good bc there was no dried top layer blocking the oil

Can you do this with the Jelly much shadow? I find that some of my jelly much have dried up super fast even though I keep them closed up. I’ve never had a super shock dry up on me, even some that I’ve had for years are still good but the jelly much is only a few months old.

I wish y'all tried this using glycerine. It works great at melting powders into flexible moussey textures. I used it with my dried out cream blush from Lush and it extended the life. I also added glycerine to my elf shimmer highlighter powder and it's so creamy now. I only need a small amount and it spreads well.

Came here to say…. I’ve played around and experimented with rehydrating my supershock shadows and I believe I have found a clear winner! Considering that the main ingredient in these shadows is dimethicone, I searched for a product that was heavy in dimethicone but not expensive. It’s a little weird… But it works. stay with me now… Monistat chafing relief powder gel. It’s about seven dollars for a hefty amount and it has a beautiful gel to powder formula that is heavy in dimethicone. I de-pot my supershock shadows and mix in just enough of the gel to get it to a loose Play-Doh consistency. I then repress and voilà! Almost as good as new :) Happy experimenting!! ♥️

I have a method that works, it just takes a little time. I think saline solution from Costco works the best to rehydrate the stila glitters and the Colourpop super shock shadows!!! I use it to rehydrate any of my makeup that dries out, including Coverfx drops.
However, I break the SS shadow completely up with a needle and stir in a couple drops of saline solution. Then I spray with one or two sprays of alcohol, and repress (not super tightly, like a medium press) with a paper towel. It doesn’t look the same, obviously, because the pressed pattern is not there anymore, but it swatches exactly the same. I have two of Telepathy, and one dried out. Once I had used my method, both swatched exactly the same!!!

Clear silicone primer (no idea what extra stuff is in the coloured one you had) does work but you do need to use primer AND glycerin. No way should you need more than $5 worth of primer though! I've saved loads of silicone based cream products using this method.

This video is a great example that oil is only meant to break down makeup and not necessarily revive makeup. That’s why most long wear makeup says “Oil-Free”. I find that majority of my clients that don’t like traditional makeup removers tell me they use some type of oil to break down the makeup like coconut oil and olive oil. So this makes it clear. Thank you! ☺️

fun fact from a nail tech on why the jojoba worked better than the primer oil: Jojoba is the best cuticle/nail oil in the world because it is the only oil (aside from the oils that our bodies produce) that is small enough on the molecular level to be absorbed by the nail plate. So it is possible that the jojoba oil absorbed better due to its small particle size.
(Side rant: also, coconut oil is absolute trash for your nails, it's basically the same as Vaseline or mineral oil in that it will make your skin feel soft when it's on but once it's gone your skin and nails will be dryer than they were before you applied it)

    Long Live King Duraline

  • @NadinaStryhn
    @NadinaStryhn 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I use the clear smashbox silicone primer, and it works amazing! The trick is that you HAVE TO scoop the dried shadow out into a small bowl or the like, and then ad a dollop of primer and mix until it becomes smooth. The amount of primer depends on the level of dryness. Then you just press it into the pan with a spatula and it is almost as good as new!

hey girls, if you're adding stuff like the primer to powder/eyeshadows, try a glass slab or a flat surface of some kind + a big flat spatula (i've got a metal cake spatula type but flat) and smear it together side to side; it will ensure an even distribution of the addition to the powder and it lets you smooth out lumps in the process before putting it into a container. it also lets you get every last bit off the slab vs getting things out of the nooks/crannies of a bowl.
    love your work !

I use rose body oil to rehydrate mine :) doesn’t leave them overly oily and it absorbs really quickly, plus it smells good ❤️
Some of them over time still require adding more oil, but they perform exactly the same as they did before they were ever altered. The only thing is if too much oil is used, they turn really paste-ey (but for some of the tricky matte shadows, the paste delivers more pigmentation lol)
Plus I’ve never had to break any of my Super Shocks with this method. Just swirling a bit over the top, giving it a few minutes, and they’re good to go. I’ve also used Chi hair oil in the past but I noticed the oil would separate from the pigments and glitters a bit and would actually make the shadows really dull. The rose body oil hasn’t changed them in this way. In fact, the shimmer/glitter shades became more shiny and the mattes a bit more workable.

It’s so funny that you are doing this! I haven’t had to save a SS yet but I have had to save my jellies multiple times. Water so far is what I’m using, though I’m open to suggestions.
I use a spray can of Evian and I’ve found the more you make it wet, the better, almost runny. Then I mix it with a toothpick and let it set flat with the lids for 24 hours or until absorbed and jelly again.
This also worked on a tarte chrome paint pot only I didn’t stir it I just sprayed it and let it soak in.
My jellies run dry about once a month and I’m not in a dry climate or in direct sunlight and they have both lids. If I could use something longer lasting than water at keeping the product hydrated I’d love it. I’m. It sure it’s possible.
