Just when I think Mary has made us aware of all hert talents - SHE PLAYS DRUMS - this is a good song for Mary it's in her vocal range, has a different vibe from we used to from Mary. This video is somewhat more involved than previous ones, although the script is basic, it's very interesting.

as a drummer, i gotta give props to a multi-instrumentalist who actually knows how to hold sticks and is in tune with rebound. you're not doing anything crazy, which is fine, but that grip you have is spot-on. well done yo.

The thing that struck me: she's relaxed. So many non-drummers play with tight shoulders, hunched over, pinched expressions on their faces - you can totally tell they're struggling. Not so here, she's in the groove.
@@adm1nspotter Yeah, she *is* isn't she? She's moving her body (like in a dance) with the groove! I once saw a drum channel mention the importance of this while reviewing Larnell Lewis at Zildjan.
Also, in your original comment you mention the "rebound". I assume that means working with the vibration of the drum velum to guide the successive strokes of the drumstick. An energy conversation of sorts, rather than just slamming the drums into submission. Energy efficiency.

I am a drummer first but play bass and guitar, the first thing I noticed about her drumming was her stick grip. I've run across her videos but they have always been guitar only.

I really admire the work you put in for these videos, it's a big job for one person. Planning, recording it all... Then shooting the different parts and getting changed for each one. Then there's any mixing/mastering. - The quality never slips, musicianship is always top notch. You set the bar for musicians on TH-cam :)
I would guess she probably outsources some of it at her level. YTers with 500k+ subs tend to. Still loads of work though of course.

It was always astounding to me that while I was single, people would persistently ask if I was dating anyone, seeing anyone, anyone I'm interested in....as if that it is unthinkable to be single and not interested in dating.
