    It’s been several hours since I watched your video and attempted to try again to make it work. Guess what, it worked. I am thrilled! Thank you Ladies sooooooo much for giving me such relief. I am a self learner on this long arm sewing and I really enjoy It. 😃

    Excellent info on pantographs. My confusion has been how to start the 2nd row, you explained that very clearly. For those of you who do not have the adjustable laser light, you can put a piece of blue tape over the light and take a safety pin and stick a hole for the light. It works great. Thank you HQ for your wonderful educational videos etc. I usually can't watch them live, so love that I can see them later and watch more than once.

    I never knew you could adjust the size of the laser light point. Thanks for pointing out that important detail. All of your other comments helped, also. One for the important comments you made involved whether or not you want to start your stitching on the quilt fabric or on the batting. This is something worth thinking about, so you can plan for how much or how little of your panto design will be cut off on the top, bottom, and sides. Great summary...

    Thank you so much for this video. I am agonizing over how to start my new row. I have watched many examples for doing this and when I try it on my machine, I can’t get it right. I am so discouraged. I will try your way of doing this and pray it works. I have some groovy boards too and have never been brave enough to look into it, but after this video I think I will be able to do it. Again, thanks so much. You Ladies are Great. God Bless!

    I am just setting up my machine and have5 quilt tops ready to quilt. I bought pantos and a couple groovy boards, plus my rulers and FMQ. I figure a couple years getting good w/ these will be good before I get the Prostitcher. Then I will be able to feel comfortable doing different things. I can't wait to get started in a couple weeks. I have a class and some appt. to attend to first.

    I fell in love with the quilt behind you. Can you tell me where I can buy the instructions?

    You didnt talk about the stylus at all. Does that come with the boards and how do you attach it to your machine.

    OK, I'm learning on my Simply and this seems to be a good way - as put on the recording - to finish a quilt...1. can you use groovy boards with the Little Foot Frame (I have the rear handles); 2. where do we purchase them; 3. cost???

      You can use Groovy boards with a HQ Simply. You need to purchase the Groovy board stylus. You can get them from your local retailer or from Handi Quilter. They will be able to tell you the price.

    When you are using a small panto, about 5.5 inches is there a way to do a couple of more passes without advancing the quilt? Like the sample you were demoing, you had room for more.

    • @hqstudioeducators8520
      @hqstudioeducators8520 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      A Johnson, you can do as many rows as will fit within your area without hitting your poles before you need toroll.

      HQ Studio Educators So where and how do you line up the next rows?

  • @juliabounds2163

    Oh yes...and I noticed yall are using the "applique foot" to quilt. I have it, haven't tried it, YET, but is it OK to use that foot for just regular quilting?

    • @hqstudioeducators8520
      @hqstudioeducators8520 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Julia, the foot that we are using for the pantographs is the Glide Foot. You can use it for regular quilting.

    • @hqstudioeducators8520
      @hqstudioeducators8520 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You wouldn't want to use the Glide Foot with rulers.

    I would like to know where to get the groovy boards

  • @drmichaelelinski6992

    Regarding Groovy a Boards, the rings that hold them together are too thick, so my stylus gets jammed at the ring when the groove is close to a ring attachment. Can I get replacement thinner rings that will not interfere with the flow of my stitching? I think this is either a design flaw or I received defective ring attachments. Thank you for your help with this problem.

    why didn't you quilt the "ghost" design at the bottom of the panto?

    I have a simply 16 with the Little Foot frame. Could I use the groovy boards, and if so, how would it work for advancing the quilt, and/ shifting the quilt side to side on the frame?

    • @hqstudioeducators8520
      @hqstudioeducators8520 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use groovy boards with the Little Foot frame. You will line up what has already been quilted with new positioning. Your needle represents the stylus. Each time you shift your fabric, check to align what's been quilted with the new position. Keep in mind, there are a lot of groovy board designs available, not just edge to edge.

    • @hqstudioeducators8520

      Laurie, yes you can use Groovy boards with an HQ Simply. There is a great video on using pantographs on the Simply. The process would be the same for Groovy boards. Here is the link th-cam.com/video/9fBwkuU617I/w-d-xo.html Search HQ Simply Sixteen videos. on youtube.

      I have done a panto on the Simply. Just a note to mention that aligning the rows after the first is a little more involved than it is on the big frames, since you have to take off the quilt and put it back on to advance it. Be sure to check many points along the row for alignment to make sure you put the quilt back on straight, compared to the first row. It can take a lot of fussing to make sure the whole row aligns properly. It's very easy to get it crooked.

    I have a HQ Sixteen what size of panto can i use so that i don't run out of space? Ive purchased one and its too big for the space my machine will allow.

    • @hqstudioeducators8520
      @hqstudioeducators8520 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      For an HQ Sixteen choose a panto that is less than 11 inches wide. Take into consideration the size of the quilt you are making. A king size quilt will build up on the take up pole and could take more of your throat space.

    • @hqstudioeducators8520
      @hqstudioeducators8520 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Renee, You don't want to do a pantograph any larger than 11.5 inches when you are on an HQ Sixteen.

      Cindy, We usually have our cruise speed set between 3-5%.

      Ok, so I have a HQ18 Avante. I have put my machine on Regulated--Cruise set at 5%--Speed 10 SPI--with the needle down. Is this correct for doing the pantographs and groovy boards?
