    This is a great video! Thanks for teaching us how to use stencils and how to quilt using these patterns. As a beginner I couldn’t get into FMQ as I didn’t want to use a ruler nor I wanted buy ruler quilt foot attachment, which is different from non-ruler ones. I personally think these look much nicer than ruler ones and can quilt much faster. Thanks for the great tips! 💜

    Thank you for this great video. I have some stencils that require the use of the pounce pad but have never used it because I was not sure how. Now that I’ve seen you use them I can give it a try. Thanks again Handi Quilter

    I have to say, this is probably one of THE BEST videos I have ever seen on TH-cam. Clear, concise, engaging, and these folks just make me want to run to my sewing room, find one of the few stencils I do have, and play! It made me also think, a lot of this information could be transferred for use on an artful jacket using the Sashiko machine! Well done, HQ, well done!

    If you add baking soda and water in a spray bottle. Look on the internet for the correct ratios of baking soda / water mixture. For removing markers And spray your quilt with the baking soda water. After using the blue marking pen. The baking soda helps remove any traces of the blue marker. So when your quilt is washed you won't have to worry about any shadowing of blue marker left behind. Just a tip I read about on the internet and I think it's a great tip it works wonderful.👍

    Thanks so much for this video! This is the first time I've seen anyone using stencils to mark as you go with a quilt that is already on the long arm frame. So many possibilities!! Also appreciated the tips for making your own DIY stencil with the sewing machine. That looks much faster and safer than trying to cut channels in mylar with an X-acto knife!

    Love the scaling up from 3.5 to 8” size that’s the problems with existing stencils unless it’s an all over design...your block size maybe different...but you don’t need that conversion table they show to do it : it’s simple math proportion FYI 3.5 to 8, so you know it’s got to be larger, take 8 divide by 3.5 times 100 for percent increase, ie 228 % (round to 230% to put that into your copier, which they should have shown it’s 5th grade math!

    Hello. You guys are SO informative and helpful!!
    I don't really know what a registration line is.
    FYI there is a big shadow across where you are quilting, so we can't see your creative fills, template patterns, etc. I want to get out my flashlight LOL.
    Thanks so much. You've really given me "permission" to go for it and get to quilting fun!

    This video came at just the right time as I'm a new long arm quilter and looking always for suggestions. I just checked with several stencil sites and can't find the gridded circle stencil you showed with the petal ruler (which I have). Do you have the supplier

    • @HandiQuilter

      Be cautious with the frixion pens as they leave residue and the marks come back if the quilt gets cold.

    Do you put the bobbin in when sewing around stencil without top thread

  • @babszollak2512
    @babszollak2512 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is informative to see what I could aspire to; however, this is beyond beginner. White on white was not practical as a demonstration and enlarging a pattern is more advanced. As a beginner, I don't have a laser light. Again as a beginner, I don't have a long arm. Show me on my home sewing machine please. Too many ideas for a beginner., this might have been better as a series progression.

    What do you do if your stencil component doesn't quite meet the size requirement of the border? Do you stitch a half of a stencil design or lengthen it out or just 'fudge it' to fit? I assume you start at the corner and then work your way to the center, but what do you do if the designs don't align properly? Thanks!

    • @kristinawhitneyhqstudioedu7013
      @kristinawhitneyhqstudioedu7013 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It kind of depends on the stencil. I will either try to center the stencil and do a "part" on all sides and travel in the ditch of the block. Other times I just kind of "fudge it".
