How to Do a Bone Broth Fast: Benefits and Schedule- Thomas DeLauer… Bone broth is a source of bioavailable nutrients in an easy-to-digest form. It helps heal and seal your gut, and enhances the absorption of nutrients - the gelatin found in bone broth is a hydrophilic colloid, meaning it attracts and holds liquids, including digestive juices, thereby supporting proper digestion (protects and seals the mucosal lining of the GI tract)
Contains glutamine that has protective effects on intestinal mucosa by decreasing bacteremia and epithelial cell apoptosis, enhancing gut barrier function, and influencing gut immune response - glutamine can fight against bad gut flora by protecting against mucosal breakdown in the gut as well
Also contains ACV, which has acetic acid, also widely known to increase nutrient absorption
    Collagen from Bone Broth:
Collagen stimulates human cartilage-producing cells (chondrocytes), which has the potential to result in more cartilage tissue
Proline: Helps the body break down proteins and helps improve skin elasticity and smoothness - often recommended for its benefits to the heart, including keeping arteries from stiffening
As it helps break down proteins, soothes the guts lining and helps form connective tissue and therefore “seals and heals” the protective lining of the gastrointestinal tract - good for leaky gut because the villi in your intestinal wall are actually built of collagen
Also helps your artery walls release fat buildup in the bloodstream, shrinking the fat in the arteries and minimizing fat accumulation
Glycine: Necessary for DNA and RNA synthesis and digestive health - it is used for the production of glutathione, for blood sugar regulation and digestion
Arginine: Beneficial for lowering inflammation and improving the health of the blood vessels and cardiovascular system
Improves blood flow in people with clogged arteries as it improves nitric oxide production (widening of arteries and relaxation of muscle cells and blood vessels that allows for better circulation)
Glutamine: Glutamine has protective effects on intestinal mucosa by decreasing bacteremia and epithelial cell apoptosis, enhancing gut barrier function, and influencing gut immune response - glutamine can fight against bad gut flora by protecting against mucosal breakdown in the gut
    Electrolytes:
Electrolytes are crucial in allowing a person's cells to generate energy, maintain the stability of cell walls, as well as to function overall
They generate electricity, contract muscles, move fluids and water within a person's body - the major role of electrolytes is to ensure that fluid levels inside and outside the cell are balanced
Our muscles and neurons are sometimes referred to as the "electric tissues" of the body. They are reliant on electrolyte movement between extracellular, interstitial and intracellular fluid (fluid inside, outside or between cells)
    Sodium:
The major cation (positively charged ion) found outside the cell - it regulates the total amount of water in the body and plays a major role in neuronal and nerve signaling.
    Potassium:
The major cation inside the cell - potassium is essential for the proper functioning of the heart, kidneys, muscles, nerves, and digestive system
    Magnesium:
It helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function, keeps the heart rhythm steady, supports a healthy immune system, and keeps bones strong - also helps regulate blood sugar levels, promotes normal blood pressure

Terrible advice Thomas. Store bought bone broth are watered down and not even close to the quality of a homemade bone broth.
      For anyone reading this....
Yes, doing a bone broth fast is great. Especially for healing leaky gut syndrome.
But store bought bone broth (any brand including Kettle n Fire) is like going to Taco Bell to buy your steak.
If you do a bone broth fast, make your own at home.
      It is very easy:
      Ingredients
      1. Grass fed beef bone marrow
      2. Chicken feet
      3. Fish head
      4. Fat trimmings (ask your butcher as they usually throw it away)
      5. Leftover fish carcass (if you have a proper seafood market, they throw these away. Just ask them for it.)
      6. Garlic, onion, carrots, celery, sea salt for taste
      7. 4 gallons of good water
Note: The beef bone barrow, chicken feet, and fish head are the most important. The fat trimmings adds taste and leftover fish carcass is just a bonus but not necessary.
      Instructions
      1. Bake beef bone marrow at 400 for 30 minutes then put in large soup pot with the rest of this stuff
      2. Fill it to the top with spring water or RO water.
      3. Let it boil on high for 3 to 5 hours so it really breaks down on the bones, cartilage, and fat.
      4. Then let it boil at a simmer for another 20 hours.
      5. You'll need to keep adding water when it dissipates and stir it every so often.
      6. Once done, let it cool and then strain it. Get a big bowl and big strainer and dump it through.
      7. Then put the broth in mason jars. Buy 8 of them. Then put in fridge for 24 hours so it gels.
      8. Put 7 of the jars in the freezer while you drink the first jar from the fridge. Of course, reheat the broth so it liquifies again.
These 8 jars will last you up to 3 weeks (8 ounces a day) and only costs $25 to make and is 10X better than store bought.

@@alau2660 well, you can't get rid of it entirely, its natural in all of us. But i did a strict Candida diet to starve it out and every 2 to 3 weeks i cycled out different supplements that attack the Candida. They were caprilic acid( coconut oil works too), oregano oil supplements, garlic oil supplements and black walnut husk with grape seed extract tincture, you have to cycle them because the Candida adapts quickly to what you're attacking it with. The candida diet is no carbs, no sugar, low to modoerate protein, its like keto on crack. I also used apple cider vinegar on a empty stomach in the morning and at night. It took about 5 months. And once it was bacm under control I started taking a strong probiotic and eating fermented foods and drinks.

However I started today with arm weights. I live on bone broth fasting and 18 hour food program. I give myself 4 hour window of eating. People tell me a week after surgery I look 10 years younger not older. My mental attitude is fantastic. I program my mind every morning. Why? And I telling you this. I did a 24 hour beef bone broth fast recently. 3 cups of bone broth (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and water only. But, I think you have to go for 48-72 hours to really get the most benefit. I drink 8-12 oz. of bone broth almost daily. It helps me sleep better and I'm sure it helps my gut, joints, skin and hair, and overall health. Pasture raised beef bones + make it yourself in a crock pot. Don't buy in a store. Takes 48 hours to brew, but two batches of beef bones lasts 2 weeks. Costs about $15 for 5 lbs. of bones. So, an inexpensive daily beverage if you make it yourself. Cheaper than most coffees, sports drinks, or protein bars. And healthier. Not processed. No carbs.

After I continued sipping on a few more ounces of water and went to bed. Today I woke up, drank 32 ounces of water and I'm about to workout. I will be following your instructions to the core. I got the weight off 3 yrs ago with the help of a trainer... but i was so hungry all the time. At my goal weight i certified as a group fitness instructor and loved it. But through injury and illness and not knowing how to adjust my diet to immobility. ... i gained a lot of weight. My back hurt. My sides hurt. My sleeping was horrible. I was dizzy., short of breath and lacked balance. I am trying a "keto" regime. But in all honesty im lost. Its so much to learn... and endless bad or former habits to break. Thankfully im back at the gym... can't teach yet- so im just enjoying being part of the program. Wish we had someone like you in Ottawa .

Hey Thomas, I’m about to run through this again next week. One question, if I’m a 290 lbs guy and teach/train boxing and kickboxing (Intense workouts), would you suggest increasing the amount of bone broth a bit? I was thinking 12/12/16 oz vs. the 8/8/12 oz that you suggest here, or is there significance in general for the amounts you’ve presented here?

I am going to dive in into the BB fasting. I've been doing Keto but don't have all the facts yet, & been experiencing lots of acid reflux and don't know if this is normal. I've been making my own bone broth in the crock pot lately (6qt and 36ish hours on low). I bought some broth bones from a local butch that sells grass fed beef (7$ will fill the crock pot) with a lot of fat on them and got some really good bone broth. I also got about 2-3 cups of talo out of it that I put in my soups/chili (about a TBS a bowl) and the flavor is just awesome. I've made a pork bone broth out of a left over ham bone and I used all the bones/carcass from the Thanksgiving turkey to make a batch. The ham bone is DELICIOUS, but almost no gelatin. The turkey broth is quite amazing as well with lots of gelatin; very happy with it. Been trying to drink about 16-30oz a day. I can't really tell much of a difference, but I do really enjoy it.

      * hard dry fasting ---> where you don't drink any water and you can't come in contact with water at all (no use of water at all, like traveling in the desert)

Another great video Thomas; thank you! As one who does & has done virtually every type of fasting there is, including 40 & 50-day water fasts, I consider a bone broth fast a "healing" fast. I truly believe all types of fasting have a time & place in each of our lives. Too there is no fast that is greater or less than others, as all variations of fasting provide significant benefits. That said, I think it's important to understand your own INTENTION when it comes to fasting. When & if you understand your own intention, you're less likely to bash others who follow different types of fasts. To better understand your intention, it's helpful to ask, "What exactly am I trying to achieve with fasting?" If it's about healing at a molecular level (ie: cancer cells, tumors, etc), killing physical & spiritual parasites, and raising conscious self-awareness & awareness in general, then longer water fasts might prove most beneficial. If gut health is the issue, bone broth and fatty broth fasting are the way to go. If it's about weight loss & maintenance, IF is an excellent choice. As a fasting coach, my point of view is this: make it yours! Remember you are a unique body unto itself and respect the needs of your bio-individuality, meaning if a true water fast dictates only water but your body needs racv &/or lemon juice, then respect your body's particular unique needs. Don't let ego & pride cause you harm when fasting, at its highest vibration, is meant to provide you with optimal health.
Btw, organic Sumatra is low acid coffee!
Thanks again Thomas. Am truly loving your content!!
