  • How to crochet a hanging basket? In this tutorial, I show you how to make a very simple hanging basket that is perfect for holding items you need to get to on a regular basis. This would also be excellent while camping. You could easily hang it up in the community showers and place small items in it while you take a shower. Also: this would be really cute with air plants (new idea 🤩)

    Medium Hanging Basket Crochet Pattern
    Crochet Hook: N\15\10MM
    Yarn: 4 Medium, Big Twist brand (~380 yards/skein - need 3 skeins)
    Note: this pattern is worked with all three skeins at the same time. In order to do this, line the three strands of yarn up together and crochet with them simultaneously like you would one strand.
    MC
    Row 1: 6 SC inside MC. This is a continuous loop pattern, so we won’t be starting and stopping each individual row. I suggest using a scrap piece of yarn to mark the 1st st of each row.
    Row 2: 2 SC in each st (12 SC at end of row).
    Row 3: 1 SC in st 1, 2 SC in st 2. Repeat * around the row (18 total SC at end of row).
    Row 4: 2 SC in st 2, 1 SC in st 2 - 3. Repeat * around the row (24 total SC at end of row).
    Row 5: 1 SC in st 1 - 2, 2 SC in st 3, 1 SC in st 4. Repeat * around the row (30 total SC at end of row).
    Row 6: 1 SC in st 1 - 4, 2 SC in st 5. Repeat * around the row (36 total SC at end of row).
    Row 7: 1 SC in st 1 - 2, 2 SC in st 3, 1 SC in st 4 - 6. Repeat * around the row (42 total SC at end of row).
    Row 8: *1 SC in st 1, 2 SC in st 2, 1 SC in st 3 - 7. Repeat * around the row (48 total SC at end of row).
    Row 9: 1 SC in st 1 - 4, 2 SC in st 5, 1 SC in st 6 - 8. Repeat * around the row (54 total SC at end of row).
    Row 10: 2 SC in st 1, 1 SC in st 2 - 9. Repeat * around the row (60 total SC at end of row).
    Rows 11- 20: 1 SC in each st in row.
    Row 21: 1 SC in st 1 - 8, SC 2together st 9 & 10. Repeat * around the row (54 total SC at end of row).
    Row 22: 1 SC in st 1 - 7, SC 2together st 8 & 9. Repeat * around the row (48 total SC at end of row).
    Row 23: 1 SC in st 1 -6, SC 2together st 7 & 8. Repeat * around the row (42 total SC at end of row).
    Row 24: 1 SC in st 1 - 5, SC 2together st 6 & 7. Repeat * around the row (36 total SC at end of row).
    Row 25: 1 SC in st 1 - 4, SC 2together st 5 & 6. Repeat * around the row (30 total SC at end of row).
    Row 26: 1 SL in st 1 - 10. Cut and tie off yarn.
    Find two locations in the same row that are roughly mid-way between the first and last row and mark them with scrap pieces of yarn. The width between the two is up to you, but I had a gap to two stitches in between my two markers.
    Insert your crochet hook up under one of the marked stitches. Tie a slip knot with your three strands of yarn and then attach the slip knot to your crochet hook. Draw the slip knot through the marked stitch and CH 4 (or as many chain stitches as you want to make). SL into the other marked st. Tie off your yarn and draw the tails through to the other side of your basket. Tie the two ends together several times to make sure the basket is secure.

      @daniellegandee3404 You can make more rows and make more increases
      Example:
      One the first row you do a increase (2 single crochets into one stitch) in every stitch,on the second row you do 1 single crochet,increase,on the third you do 2 single crochet and 1 increase (and then you can make it as big as you want)

      I promised another viewer that I would make a large one for my dog, and I did start it, got half-way through, and then I put it down and didn't pick it back up. I am going to try to finish it, because there is definitely some interest in a larger basket! Happy crocheting!

    Do you think this would be strong enough to hold 13 pounds of cat? Or should I attach a second strap?

      Hum. If it were me, I would consider a wooden handle and crochet over it for the strap, mostly because I could see a cat scratching it, maybe?

      I love this idea so much that I am currently working on a tutorial video for it! I am going to give you a head start on it: I am going to start with this precursor video: th-cam.com/video/EMl6lOISY8g/w-d-xo.html
      This way you can customize the pet paradise to your desired size! For me, I am going to place a round bed (we have a small dog) and crochet the flat round circle to that size, then I am going to switch to placing 1 SC in each st in the row for as many rows as I placed for the initial flat circle. Then, I am going to decrease back down. I am currently working on the patterns for different size circles, and I can easily share them with you if you decide to give it a try!
      Once I create the tutorial, I am going to try to remember to reply and let you know that I have uploaded it. My goal is to get it posted on 7/30, but I rarely meet my crochet goals.
      Thank you so much for this idea and taking the time to comment! Happy crocheting!

    Is it increased like this because it’s three strands of yarn or is it simply the pattern? (Still new so I’m curious.)

    • @CrochetWithJulie
      @CrochetWithJulie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is increased super funky because it creates little points where it increases if you increase normally. That being said, you can increase and decrease this traditionally and it won’t look too different.

    do you happen to know the measurements? wanted to make sure it'd fit a cat!

    • @CrochetWithJulie
      @CrochetWithJulie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t have the exact measurements (I am currently on the road), but it is roughly 10-12 inches in diameter at its widest, so I would be surprised if it would fit a cat, but I saw that you replied to the comment about making one of these to fit a cat or dog, so I am going to write out the pattern here for you:
      1. Follow the concept of this video, working with any 3 strands of yarn at once, but follow this video to create a large circle using SC stitches (crochet this to any size that you would like, but see notes below for this):
      How to Crochet a Continuous Loop Circle Using SC st
      th-cam.com/video/EMl6lOISY8g/w-d-xo.html
      2. Once you have the base, count the number of rows you currently have. Place that same number of rows, placing 1 SC in each st in each row (so if your base has 10 rows, so should this section).
      3. The decreasing pattern will simply be the reverse of the increasing pattern. If you would like me to write it out for you, I will happily do that, but I would need to know the number of rows in your base and the number of SC stitches in your latest row.

    The pattern for row no. 5 , makes me confused (I'm a beginner,maybe it's the reason) . U said in the first 2 stitches 1 single croshet ok 👍 then u said in the 3rd stitch a double single croshet ,BUT and now the confusion, then u skipped the 4 and said on the 5th a single croshet. So did I understood smth wrong or did u skipped the 4th stitch ?

    • @ShyL4l4
      @ShyL4l4 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok got it, u just skipped 4 . Ur fingers told me ... hahaha u showed on the 4th but said 5th . except for the error it was a very good tutorial, I'm a beginner and just slowed the video on 0.75 down and it helped me a lot. Ty sm I did it for my rats ♡

    • @CrochetWithJulie
      @CrochetWithJulie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! Thank you for pointing this out! It was rough going back and listening to how fast I was talking back then!!! I have since slowed down, but I am glad you were able to slow down the video! There is an easier way to create a flat circle using the SC st, but the issue I have is that it doesn't create a circle shape, but more of a hexagon (I have a tutorial for creating a flat SC here: th-cam.com/video/m9baER2VfGc/w-d-xo.html). So, normally the increasing rows wouldn't be this confusing! I hope you are still crocheting and enjoying it!

    I followed this step by step but it curls upwards every time at some point and i don’t what to do about it and I don’t know if it’s supposed to do that so early on ☹️

    • @CrochetWithJulie
      @CrochetWithJulie  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s okay if it curls upwards. It will eventually curl up a lot. Also you can flatten it with your hands a little each row and that can flatten it out.

  • @claudiasantana754
    @claudiasantana754 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The pattern is 1 double and 2 singles. increases in each row 1 simple. Row number 10 is 1 double and 8 singles. If you want it larger, you must continue increasing 1 single in each row until it is the desired size and continue in the video with row number 10, which are all singles.
