    Meyer House might just be the first condo in Singapore to offer a private dedicated lift and lobby for ALL its units. Mind you, this isn't the "common" private lifts that you might have seen in regular condominiums, it is your very own lift and lobby. In other words, no one else will be using this lift but you and your family - how's that for luxury and privacy?
    Other than that, Meyer House sits on a freehold land size of almost 110,000 square feet, with just 56 units total. It starts from 1,862 sqft for a 3 bedroom unit, all the way to a giant 5,662 sqft penthouse unit. It was designed to be the "Nassim of the East" by acclaimed designers like WOHA, Yabu Pushelberg, and Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl and is developed by a joint venture between UOL and Kheng Leong.
    With this 4 bedroom unit at an asking price starting from $7 million, it is definitely targeted at a niche crowd as most Singaporeans at this price point would rather be looking at a landed home instead. It's hard to argue about it being an investment at this level, but we can certainly see the appeal from a privacy and luxury of space standpoint.

    👉 Would you pay $7M to own this luxurious freehold home with a dedicated lift lobby? Or would you prefer to buy a landed home instead? To be honest, this quite a difficult one. On the one hand, the luxurious lifestyle it affords is hard to resist, but having a landed home gives so much more control and privacy 👀 Which would you choose?

    • @Victor-rt3fx
      @Victor-rt3fx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For $7M, you can get a entry level detached house at $5.5M and use the remaining $1.5M to renovate to a standard which is far better than that of this condo. So would you buy this condo now after hearing this?

    • @StackedHomes
      @StackedHomes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Victor-rt3fx One of the downsides to landed homes is the lack of a community, or at least with a development, the community is easier to mix with - could be an important consideration for those with families and kids who want to mingle around. Likewise some owners may not like to deal with A&A & repair issues as much.

    • @Victor-rt3fx
      @Victor-rt3fx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@StackedHomes Nowadays, it is a common sight to have doors closed within a condo. Maybe you can ask your friends staying in a condo whether they are actively interacting with their neighbours or other residents? I think not much community interactions in the condo to talk about here. By the way, what makes you think that landed owners will get headaches having to deal with repair? If anyone has the money to buy landed property, he would only need to call the right trademan for repair when such need is required. This also applies to condo unit owners as well. Do the condo managing agent help the unit owners to fix the aircon, paint the unit interior, replace the faulty electric appliances etc? No, right? Each owner, be it landed or condo occupant, has to take care of maintenance within his home.

      @@Victor-rt3fx Hey Victor. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this - it's always a pleasure to hear opinions from property enthusiasts like yourself. Yes it would depend - we've met people who prefer a condo development, and those who prefer privacy. Families with young children will not mind the shared facilities - specifically so that the children can meet at the playground too (perhaps not so much for adults). So different developments do cater to different types of people - even cluster homes that receive a lot of flak have their niche buyer group. From speaking with different buyers and sellers, there are those who have stayed in both types of developments (strata vs land) and very much preferred strata as there were a lot of unforeseen works that needed to be done for landed homes. Not that it is a bad thing necessarily - some people embrace this as they love the control over their property. So again it would depend on the person 😀

    • @Victor-rt3fx
      @Victor-rt3fx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StackedHomes Yup, you are right. Different people have different preference for their place
      and environment of stay. And most importantly, also depends on the size of their wallets. 😊

    As someone who lived in both landed house and freehold home, depending on your circumstances, but this level of lux mean you are closer to your neighbour without running into them too much and have the comfort of not been so isolated as we now have smaller and smaller household. Perfect for empty nester or couple with adult kid.

    I wonder why there aren't more of this kind of zero-corridor layouts in SG. Love the efficient use of space. The only gripe I have is the crazy number of toilets. I envy the Japanese people whose homes have at most two toilets most of the time regardless of the number of bedrooms.

    The problem with this property is that you have to foot an expensive bill for compulsory lift servicing which is a totally unnecessary drain on your money after spending so much on the property and there is no maid's room, which many buyers (who can afford such an expensive home) would deem necessary - that's why the developers have had many difficulties selling these units

    Then we have 10% of singaporeans struggling for homeownership. 90% can own a flat, but likely 70% have to struggle for mortgage that’s barely a million.
    With the money, I rather invest it in something more sensible than superficial luxury of having private lobbies/lift. It’s pretty sad to see how expensive and superficial living has became, and we have to hide behind a facade as such to feel like we have adequate social standing.

    • @StackedHomes
      @StackedHomes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey! Thanks for sharing your insights. I guess this is for those who have already invested money in something sensible, and still have leftovers. Some people just like certain things that not many condos can offer, so a feature like this could cater to a niche crowd who appreciates it. Not that they're hiding behind a facade. It's like having a love for expensive wine - money could be spent elsewhere, but if it makes you feel good, why not?
