The FMS Max Smasher was a huge success for FMS. The V2 has a few changes, but this little Mini RC Monster Truck is awesome. Did Traxxas ask FMS to remove the Max from Max Smasher?

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for showing and calling out the ESC and transmitter changes. Bought this for Christmas for my little dude and I opened it tonight before wrapping to put some upgrades on and when I went to test...DISASTER! the transmitter and esc would not bind together and no one has the V2 R3A reciever before christmas. saw this video and BAM got the R4A1 reciever and transmitter expedited so fingers crossed there's hope my little dude will have a fully functional monster truck and an upgrade reciever transmitter to boot!!

Traxxas strike again!.. is nobody safe? I got the revised V1 at Christmas and was worried about the electronics but mastered the nose wheelies fairly easily. It's more interesting when it's a challenge! Nice review Phil 👌
I think it's the other way around isn't it? Copying tamiya with the box, kyosho with the body all from a company that had to very quickly withdraw from sale their unlicensed jeep. Not sure the problem lies where you think it does to be honest
I really really wanted one , the bushings are just a hard pill to swallow

A Trashxxas TRX 4m costs 150$ and doesn't have a single bearing and this thing will out-crawl it 100%
I'm trying to spread the word about the speed motors FairRC and FMS offer for these; they may not work depending on the ESC and/or battery setup you have. I spent hours and a lot of money trying to get it to stop cutting out at full throttle but ended up just junking everything and going Furitek

Just got one of these for me and my boys. It's perfect. They are 9-5 and first gear is helping them learn how to drive perfectly. They love that the lights turn on and off also

I do like these trucks, they seem pretty good. Yeah situation normal for Traxxas I think.
I wonder if you will still be able to get all the parts and bearings for the "MAX" version now it has been changed or will you only be able to get the parts that only have bushings instead for them.

The Smasher is a pretty cool monster truck, but I think it would be even cooler if it had straight axles just like a real monster truck
I’ve seen people do a ‘reverse portal’ mod… gives it a nice low stance
Such a cool little truck! Although 1/24 scale those tires help it conquer ground meant for bigger trucks! Thanks for the video!
I’ve had the fcx24 for a month or so and I absolutely love it especially after I figured out the esc controls, got some much needed treal brass portal weights because the front end flips backwards pretty easily when climbing.
FMS just keeps on killing it ! Enjoy your day today .
I do miss the truck battery status light on the transmitter. And it was nice to be able to glance at your settings on the pots and dip switches. But digital/electronic is more precise (if you can remember where you set them). And it has a very nice low battery warning which enables you to bring it in (stop and go) rather than just stop. But the first thing that they should have changed is the IMPOSSIBLE body clips. I had to unscrew the back end to get the battery out. And once the battery was out, I will not remove the body very often. I just moved the battery to the truck bed, with a Molex to JST extension cable...
i like the name you have now, i wish i could get back into this hobby again. I loved the scale and crawler scene, i even joined a club but one night/day, i mean it just takes 1 day or night, someone stole every rig i had some that were taken were my favorite and one that was taken a club member helped me buy it cause i was short on funds. I watch Kevin and others and im so jealous cause i know i'll never be able to get my dream rigs ever again
I love the smasher, axial needs to come out with there own version of the smasher now
The biggest issue I have with these FMS smasher trucks is the fact they put USA-1 logos on a Ford body..USA-1 is and always has been a Chevy.. I'm sure that traxxas had something to do with the Max leaving but I mean FMS only used 1 X so Idk
It's pretty pathetic how threatened Traxxas are by other RC manufacturers...
Two reasons I'll never buy a brand new Traxxas..
Number 1 = Their over litigious nature.
And..
Number C = Their ridiculous prices.!

Great video, love this little truck, but how do you change to forward/reverse???? on a v2
That little meme of Traxxas is spot on
They also have a 1.5 release. Thats has servo saver. It also has another revision of the controller. It has a foam wheel, but no setting for forward/reverse. Not sure about the bearings.
Someday, I'll grab a couple of these for my boys. They look like a ton of fun!

My Smasher V2 arrives later today. For those that are interested in being able to convert to crawling, is there a recommendation for wheels, weights, and tires? It's hard for me to tell which tire height would be best, as well as which tires fit what wheels. I'm fairly new to the hobby, but would love to see a video like this.
i think most 1 inch tires and wheels are all pretty similar there will be slight variations but injora on amazon has been putting out some nice looking upgrades for scx24/fcx24 bodys which i belive is what this monster truck chassis is on

Just opened my v2 up. Is there a neutral position? I find when I hit Channel 3 I get slow speed then flick the button to position 2 on channel 3 neutral then third position high speed ?

Weird I have a v1 with the newer ESc’s, still says max. No dip switches. So I pulled the ESc’s out of my fcx24 and swapped them, now it’s a proper monster truck

Maybe you'd see 50% drag brake, on a more gentle slope?
It would be cool if instead of making it worse, they made it better with something like oil shocks or waterproof electronics, but the servo saver was a nice touch.
I guess that as Scalextric cars are now around the £70 mark, these don’t seem so expensive after all!

That was my thinking, I don't think they have successfully sued anybody for a few years, Maclan was the last one I think not counting the HBO Max joke
They don't need to successfully sue anyone. Their goal is to bankrupt competitors with frivolous lawsuits. They don't need to even be winnable if the victim immediately surrenders, that's why it's problematic. Everyone else in the space has to walk on eggshells to avoid Traxxas' patent trolling landmine. That's the whole
problem. They are abusing the legal
system to maintain a faux monopoly on selling RC cars to stupid people.
@@mikescherrer4923 except Horizon Hobby these days. I think there was some changes in the Texas patent court where all their lawsuits seem to be done from. I don't think it's as easy for them but as you say they can just threaten to do so. The HBO Max lawsuit smacked of a bit of desperation though 😂

Its hard to say, normally traxxas only goes after companies that use "maxx" with 2 x but i could see them getting fms to not use max

I know I'm super late to the video but does everyone know about the forward/reverse setting on those v2 fms controllers by now? It is there, just a bit fiddly.
Press REV twice, so LED blinks, then BIND button once, it should switch to forward/reverse, then just REV twice again to exit program mode.

This MAX smasher is the only mini crawler I have any interest in.
The bushings are a big buzzkill for me , I think every rc hobbyists know that bushings will sand down anything it’s spinning around....
The TRX 4m costs more and has full bushings.
Makes me think of the Arrma Fazon again, When is Formula One going back to having the coil-overs mounted in the suspension arms? 🙄
Why you do this to me Tomley RC? I was already having a hard time choosing my next RC! I was gonna go Axial AX24, then I found the Panda Hobby Tetra24, and now this is in the same price range!! I'd welcome feedback from the committee LOL
The AX24 is nice… but these FCX24’s can be pretty special with a few mods 👌
The Panda Hobby Tetra24 is an often overlooked and underrated chassis. And it can run all day on a 3S battery without burning up the electronics or motor, great for trail running if you are not into rock crawling...

@@justinneese4449 I am sorry, but I don't know that. The Tetra24 can take the Injora stamped wheel (both offsets) and the Treal (D) short offset. Some other wheels bind on the portals. That's about all I know.
