    For waterslides, hold them with tweezers after you wet them and use q tips to slide them on to the surface. Micro sol and Tamiya have products that make it easier to manipulate waterslides when they're transferred to the surface. With these hard bodies it might even be worth it to put a topcoat on it.

    • @dannyseville2543

      Care should be taken before clear coating water slides. If decal fixing solution isn't used before clear coating, it can cause the decal to contract, leaving a crinkled mess. I found out the hard way!😄

    • @vlogress11c81
      @vlogress11c81 ปีที่แล้ว

      Micro sol is awesome after you put water slides on. Make sure you don’t touch them though after because it basically melts them on to the plastic. Makes them look way more realistic and if there’s contours it has to form to it’ll do it way easier.

    The oil shock mod on the FCX24 made a big difference on my rig. Crawls much better and does not bounce anymore. I just ordered a USA-1. It's cool that they use water decals, takes me back to my modeling days as a kid.

    • @muskokamike127
      @muskokamike127 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      You can buy waterslide paper for your printer now so you can make your own decals. How cool is that? I made hundreds of models as a kid and put on more decals than I can remember. After a few years though they dry out and flake off. Then I discovered putting clear lacquer on top, locks them in.
      there's also a conditioner you put in the water too.

    Waterslides - Buy Micro Sol and Micro Set - one goes on before the decal, the other seals it afterwards. Alternatively, paint on a little gloss varnish before you do the slide (let it dry before applying slide), then after it's dry, paint on some matt varnish (or more gloss if you want a shine). Cheers as always Tomley!

    Phil, I built Aurora model airplane kits in the 70s, when I was 12-ish. The decals would be soaked in lukewarm water for about 30 sec or longer. After being applied, they'd be given 24hrs before touching them. Make sure the plastic is clean and handle the rear of the decal as little as possible. They look great because they can follow the smallest contours, looking just like paint.
    Yours shouldn't have come off so easily unless you didn't give them long enough to dry, or else the thickness of the decal is probably even less, nowadays, making them even easier to tear.

  • @FullTimeRCer

    woooooo..
    I need one, two hours ago I was thinking of buying myself a lunch box from tamiya to have a little fun, the nostalgia of my childhood is coming back at the moment, but it is a bit big for the house and the backpack on a walk).
    But, I just saw this superb mini monster truck, it is perfect for the house and the backpack!!!
    It only lacks a bit of weight on the rear and it will do crazy wheelies, think about adding the famous wheel on the rear axle!!!

    Best way to protect the water slides is to spray a clear coat over them when they are dry. I'm gonna scotch bright the body before I apply the decals, then clear coat it to protect the decals and it will also make it shine good.

    You can seal the water slide decals with a little white glue mixed with water and brush it over top. They will stick really good after that. Don’t use too much glue mixture or they lift off the model again 😂. Or they sell a product called microset which is a water slide decal sealer which leaves more of a matte finish.

    Cool little trucks.
    nice to see a manufacturer make what a hobbyist such as myself have been doing for a few years now.
    I really thought axial would have been in the first one but it doesn't matter they are really neat.
    I don't think there's anything better you can do with those stickers there Tom.
    Because they're designed for a model car to sit on a Shelf.. they are very brittle once they dry.
    However maybe spraying it down with clear coat would help protect it as long as the ink didn't run all over the place.

    After applying and drying you schould give them a clearcoat. Not only it seals the edges it also reinforce the decals and never touch them with bare fingers, altrough a i had the best results when you rough up or flaten the surfaces with like a smoth wipe of steelwool and clean and wet the space were it does on with dishsoaped water and put on the decals (works same way with lexan bodys just withou scruffing the surface) The USA1 is really lovely, i appreciate the neutral position as i hella sure would play around with it for sure since its that small lol

    I'd clearcoat the decals as you would on the static models by airfix and tamiya etc

    They are soo cool. I personally like the blue one. Could see me and the kids destroying the lounge room to make a track on a Sunday. Awesome vid as usual.

    What I used to do on model cars after applying waterslide decals is spray gloss clear enamel over the entire body.
