2023 Mazda CX-60: Confirmed Pricing, Release Date & Engine Specs for Mazda's BMW X3 Rival

  • We reveal full pricing, specifications and engine choice for the 2023 Mazda CX-60 luxury SUV in Australia, where the model will start from just under $60K.
    In mid-2023, Mazda will release its first luxury SUV product in Australia. The midsize CX-60 will be a direct competitor to the Audi Q5, Lexus NX, Volvo XC60, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and BMW X3. However, the CX-60 is priced more sharply than those vehicles.
    We’ve already driven the CX-60 which you can watch here:
    Notably, the CX-60’s entry level engine will be a six-cylinder turbo petrol, unlike the modest four-cylinder engines offered on the competition’s cheaper models. There will also be an available straight-six turbo Diesel engine and a four-cylinder plug-in hybrid that is the most powerful production Mazda ever.
    Later, Mazda will reveal a CX-90 three-row large SUV, plus CX-70 and CX-80 models. There might even be a new Mazda 6 on the company’s new rear-wheel drive architecture.
    As always, we don’t accept advertising from car manufacturers, and we’re powered by Budget Direct - so this is an independent, honest review of the Mazda CX-60.
    Time codes:
    0:00 - What is the CX-60?

      Here in Canada Mazda is one of the more common brand. You’d see a cx-5 just as much as a cr-v or an explorer. The 3’s are very liked and very reliable even in the winter. Almost everyone agrees that you can go wrong with Mazda.

    This is how you should make a crossover ... Even fake front wheel drive Lexus SUVs won't stand a chance near this car ...
    This is what we call a proper layout ...front longitudinally mounted rear wheel driven cross over with integrated AWD system ... Awesome .... I
    I wish as Mazda being a brand that caters to enthusiasts they might come up with a manual transmission Mazda 6 with an inline 6 and rwd. ...

    Appreciate the cost data across the 3 models and three drive-trains: For many people with low-moderate vehicle usage, the annual cost of fuel will be less than either depreciation or insurance and over time probably still less than depreciation plus increased maintenance. Nice since the basic inline 6 is likely to be the smoothest and most satisfying to drive...as well as the least expensive annually.

But I suspect their biggest challenge will be to convince buyers that Mazda is a "premium" brand like Lexus , who I suspect will be a main competitor. Depends on what kind of buyer you are. With the new FBT exemption for EVs and PHEVs below the LCT threshold, it could be worth buying the Evolve PHEV if you're a salary packaging buyer. For most private buyers though I'd imagine it will be hard to recoup the $12,500 bump over the petrol in a short period. Cut throat pricing backed with superb reliability looks like a recipe for success. However, this is the first generation of CX-60. Hence, it would be wise to wait for atleast first 18 months after the car hits the road so that all teething issues and niggles are sorted out. Mazda with the launch of CX-60 in all variants has surely put other car manufacturers on notice. This is a good strategy by far as it gives the buyer various options. Cx-60 is postioned as a premium Suv at an affordable price. Value for money on offer makes it a compelling purchase compared to other premium cars including BMW, LEXUS, MERCEDES-BENZ and even Genesis.

    • @aygeeninty771
      @aygeeninty771 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I put an order in for a GT inline 6 petrol. You get the 2k discount, and 15k service interval vs 10k on diesel. The service is also slightly cheaper. It's going to be faster and slightly lighter on the front than diesel. But I think the dpf issues stuff is overated if you drive it hard. Note its also a euro 5 not a euro 6 compliant motor so thats good. Would take years of driving and the car would be old by the time you get money back for PHEV. I wouldn't want one second hand after warranty expires - you?

The Hyundai Santa Fe and Palisade diesel achieves so very attractive economy. 6 cylinders and 3.3L may scare many people until we get confirmed fuel economy.
