Student demonstrators take to the streets calling for freedom for the people. Fifty years after independence Indonesia's military shows no sign of releasing its stranglehold on the country. The Army still devotes a large amount of effort to quashing internal threats from its own citizens. Almost every civilian level of Government is mirrored by a military equivalent and even tiny villages report to a military ruler.

Former leaders like General Soemitro are joining those who criticise the military's role. In court activists including lawyer Abnan Nastuion cheer as they win a case. Fed up with the army's domination they are forcing high profile cases, like the sacking of dissident Arif Burriman from his university post, into the spotlight. At the army's Military Academy in Central Java, recruits are taught to see themselves as the people's army, guiding Indonesians down a path of economic and political development. Their army has proved to be an effective and at times oppressive means of social control.

The old camo which resembles British DPM looks way better at blending with surrounding vegetation than current version of "Loreng Malvinas". The current camo has too large pattern and the color is wayyy to bright/odd.

I still remember that back in 2010s, (I was born in the early 90s) my uni friends used to brag that they're gonna go to Jakarta to protest. It became a sort of rite of passage cuz Reformasi was what made Orde Baru finally end
The Indonesian Military today (2019) thanks to the 1998 reformation done by the youngsters, has focused back and is solely tasked for DEFENCE only such as other country's military, but in Indonesia today the Military has limited authority for the society such as assisting the Police for security but not for general cases like during the Soeharto era, but the military now is only deployed when security situation is tense and if a huge riot takes place near vital areas, the military is sent and is positioned at the rear of the police. not anymore like the Soeharto's era military

Itu jaman rezim orde baru' TNI dijadikan alat atau tameng kekuasaan Suharto.Sejak reformasi TNI di kembalikan lgi ke barak dan d larang berpolitik.TNI kita tdk akan pernah lagi di peralat sebagai alat politik dan kekuasaan ' Bravo TNI..👍
