Rubba's right. Somewhere during the main game, Chapter 2 I think, when Chris decapitates the person down below you, he says something like 'Must contain it' or 'Must keep it contained'. Edit: Chris says 'We have to contain it.'
I came here expecting Professor Nakayama. Some of these are simply stretches on "without actually touching them" but Professor Nakayama's fall is completely out of your hands... or anyone else's.
That one boss in Chrono Trigger that you fight on top of an airship. After he is summoned you can just sit there and do nothing, and it turns out he's scared of heights and he'll proceed to off himself.
Illusion Games just wait a week to play after you have started the fight with him (or cheat and set your ps3 time a week ahead), a cutscene will play showing snake finding the end had passed away
I think a boss worthy for this list was Garrosh from WoW, the way he died not only didn't have the players involved, but it also pissed off a lot of players sense it was such a bitter sweet death after all the crap he pulled.
Most of the brothers in Soul Reaver 1 were kind of like that. While Raziel does have to activate a contraption or breaking something in order to harm and kill his brothers, he never has to lay a claw on them, just orchestrate their demise and then reave their souls. Heck, the only one you do beat up is Turel, who got scrapped from the original game and didn't get fought until the final entry in the Legacy of Kain series.
At least talking the Master in Fallout 1 down made sense. Unlike President Eden in 3 where convincing him consists of saying "This has to stop and you are the only one who can do it."
You forgot Colonel Vyktor Kratek from "Killzone:Mercenary" (2013). He was supposed to kill the main character right when they first met face-by-face, but the main character's squadmate sneaked up on him and killed Vyktor.
The whole borderlands series has tons of bosses that you never lay a finger on. Examples: Professor Nakayama, Borderlands 2 DLC. Commandant Steele, Borderlands. Flyboy, Borderlands 2 DLC. I could go on, but I wont.

You missed one of the best ones: the end (metal gear solid three). Just go to your date settings during the fight and set the date two weeks in the future, load up the game and voila, he died by old age.
Technically the President in Fallout 3 can have a similar situation to the Master in that he can die without the player directly killing him. Same deal with some Borderlands bosses as Handsome Jack can be die to lilith instead if you don't shoot him yourself. Other bosses that the player does not technically deliver the killing blow too; First Omnidroid boss - The Incredibles the game - Droid kills itself in after fight cutscene. All bosses - Star Trek Legacy - The player controlled ship does not need to even fire a shot in certain cases as the AI controlled ships whether under your group or not are capable of killing the enemy ships just as well as the player is. Almost all bosses - Star Trek online - Certain bosses are fought with either bridge crew or friendly AI units present that are capable of delivering the killing blow on the bosses. Liberty Prime + Prdywn - Fallout 4 - Technically either an Institute reprogrammed Liberty prime or a series of Minutemen artillery guns are responsible for the destruction of the Liberty prime boss and the Prydwn. T-Rex - Tomb Raider anniversary - Whilst you do shoot at it, the main thing that kills it is it being lured into smacking its skull off the arena. Devins westons secretary - GTA V - whilst not really a boss fight, she is a noteable character, that you do have to chase after that ends up being blended by a jet engine. nearly anything - Doom 1 and 2 - Monster infighting can technically allow for any bosses or regular enemies to be killed by eachother, it is technically possible to finish the game having the majority of enemies killed without firing a single round. and many others that either died from a team member, an random AI, the environment, or a scripted event
Hey, what about, on a multitude of occasions, King Koopa, himself? In... quite a few Mario games, he dies if you just touch an ax that isn't even plunged into his reptilian body, whatsoever...

I'm surprised Electrocutioner from Batman Arkham Origins didn't pop up. The first time you meet he's too busy taunting you that he's holding still and when you attack it turns into a drop kick to the face, instantly knocking him out. 1 attack knocked out a "boss", an assassin? Should I even consider him an actual enemy? Normal enemies, 1v1 take 3 hits to knock out but this "boss" is just 1 it's too pathetic.
Huh... little surprised the first titan victim in Batman Arkham Asylum didn't make the list; the guy has a heart attack about a minute into the battle without Bats even laying a finger on him... guess he wasn't really a character, and only really a tutorial boss, so he doesn't count...

You fight Saren beforehand, and the reaper version of him is labelled "Saren Arterius", so I guess he still counts. Did spring to mind though.
