(The closed-captions had me rolling! No Spanish in there, huh?) I've been to Jesse's many times. The first time was with a lifetime local who had an issue with staying out of trouble. All of that stuff you heard Jesse say about helping others and being supportive...it's 100% true. There was absolutely no acting or exaggeration in his words; the man is pure of heart and SO giving. He says hello and goodbye to every single customer and will always stop by your table - not just to ask if everything's okay, but to have a real conversation, even if he has never seen you before. The food...oh, man. The food is amazing (and I've had a LOT of tacos) and the prices are shockingly low for what you're getting. This wonderful guy deserves every bit of success he's getting. If you're lucky, you'll probably run into his family there, as well. Check at the table back against the wall near the register. Go say hi and talk for a while! Two more things: The hours aren't what you might expect for a restaurant, so be sure to look it up before you go. Lastly, I really enjoy the TBL and all the new things they open us up to experience, so I really really really hope that being featured on this show doesn't change Jesse's. Too much good press isn't always a good thing - not for the owners or the faithful regulars.
This happens to a lot of people in prison. They’ve studied it and found: “A very important reason why inmates become involved with religion is to improve their own self-concept. Lack of a positive self-concept is a common problem with correctional inmates who may suffer from guilt related to failures in life, remorse from criminal acts, or, from the pain of a dysfunctional family background. Because the core of many religious beliefs includes acceptance and love from a higher being, and from members of the faith group, inmates often feel better about themselves if they practice religion while incarcerated. “
First of all what a mighty God we serve, this also proves that we live in an amazing country that no matter who you are where you're from what color you are you can succeed. Jessie thank you for your story. May God bless you and your business.
I’m so proud of you Jessie ! I may never be blessed with eating at your restaurant, but know that God had his own plan for you! Keep thriving and stay blessed !!
Jesse is a bad ass. I have much respect for this man, for what he was able to overcome and accomplish after the bad times and I dont even know him. There are so many more restaurants offering Mexican food in Bryan now than before I left. The gems I came across were something I looked forward to always. It is one thing I miss most about the place. I tell people about it all of the time. When you realize the so called Mexican food you've been eating your whole life was not done right or that you have been fooled, it is a hell of a thing. Bryan,TX made me realize this. People just don't understand. I wish I could have tried the food from Jessi's. The food looks/sounds (described) awesome. Good luck to him and his business. I'm glad Bryan is still known for its awesome Mexican food.
I would love to stop in for some of that delicious food Jesse but mainly I would love to stop by just to shake your hand. Congratulations on that awesome comeback. God Bless and hope for the best for you Jesse!
I've been there several times with friends during lunch. The food is both excellent and affordable. Jesse is a great guy. I never knew about his troubles. God bless him.
WOW !! I have lived in this area all my life and even worked in the same mall strip for several years and never knew a thing about his backstory. The little clips where he is seen greeting and talking to his customers wasn't done just because he was on camera. He really is like this with everyone that walks in. We have so many Mexican taco eateries in our area and most act like they don't even want your business. But not at Jessie's, he is a real genuine man and his appreciation for his customers really shows. The place is always packed in the mornings and during lunch. I often had to work alone with no breaks throughout the entire day and no matter how busy the restraunt was he would always be willing to walk over to deliver my food. For this I will always be a forever patreon and supporter of him and his establishment. Jessie if you ever read this "You Rock" I wish you many more blessings and happiness. Keep being an inspiration to others. 🌮🤩
What a wonderful story. Jesse is an inspiration. A true comeback story. We all lose our way at times. What matters is that we turn it around and get back on track
I found Jesse’s in 2016, the year my daughter started her first year at A&M. It’s just one of the things I miss about BCS that I don’t get to see very often since she finished up her college and moved back to North Texas. I can’t recommend Jesse’s enough, the food and atmosphere was and I’m sure still is amazing!
I’ve lived in Bryan Texas since I was 6 years old and best believe it’s a good experience because the food cultures are AMAZING but Jessie’s breakfast tacos YUM!
The best of the best!!!! I ate breakfast at Jesse’s at least four times a week when I lived there. I’m pretty sure I kept the lights on. Every time I go back to BCS Jesse’s is built into the schedule.
Jesse seems like a great guy! And that food all looks AMAZING....I’d kill for some of ALL OF THAT right now..can you overnight me some to Nashville????
I used to work very close to Jesse's, but that was before he opened in 2012. I wish they were around when I was in Aggieland as not many Tex-Mex/Mexican restaurants in BCS lived up to the "authentic Mexican" claims. Another place that deserves a look is a sandwich shoppe called "Must be Heaven", located a little farther west on Briarcrest Drive. Very good food - great place overall. I really miss Aggieland.
Amazing story of redemption.
I'm so proud of this guy for turning his life around. He has a good heart
