Worked for their sister store Chicken Oil Company in Bryan in the summer of '91. Won't go into details about my interaction with Don, but as far as I'm concerned, he was a terrible person and manager. Good food though, and other than him, I've got fond memories of working there. When at Northgate, we preferred Dudley's for our beer. Gotta love those Shiner chuggers.

My friends and I would go up to him and say we wanted a Freddy burger. Don’t know why, but they were better. The girls have turned it into more of a restaurant than what Don and Donnie had. Kind of sad. I’ve been going to the Chicken since it opened. Beer on ice, pool tables in the back, dominoes up front. Cheese and crackers. Jalapeños. And my favorite, the hot links. Couldn’t walk through the place on most nights.

Closed that place down a few times between 83-87 but never had a burger there, though. I always went for the chicken fried steak.
