    BY FAR the best takeoff video out there. Chin down on soft, arch up on steep, this is exactly what I would have needed to hear about 8 months ago lol. It's really good how you demonstrate it on the green screen in position.

    Had my first lesson this past weekend. Mild waves. If i had watch this videos prior to my lessons i could probably have catched a few more waves. Also had no idea thats how you actually supposed to paddle😂😂😂😂. Already itching for my next session

    Great video!
    I've a question about lay down position correctness, so to speak. When I transitioned to a shortboard, I noticed that when I engage my core and glues then my knees aren’t really in contact with the board anymore. Is it correct? I tried to actively push them down but this causes the board to sink so I'm not sure if I'm overthinking or what.
    Best!

      Hey man. Usually with a short board your knees will be resting on the board and the tail of the surfboard will be under water and the nose sticking out. If you look at the videos of me in the pool you’ll see what it looks like. You don’t want too much of the nose to stand out though. Each board will also have different length and volume so finding the sweet lying down paddling position will vary a little between each board 🙌😊 Hope that helps.

    Chin down to get more speed is a misconception....If you do the cobra when you feel your on the wave, the back digs into the wave and it propels you..Take Mick Fanning as an example if you look up..."HOW TO POP-UP ON A SURFBOARD IN ONE MOTION"..Good vid for you to watch about it in detailBro..."Effortless Surfing: Mastering Wave Catching with Less Struggle | OMBE #1 - The Ocean"

    • @shannonainsliesurf
      @shannonainsliesurf  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for your feedback. I have actually tested it and you do go faster with your chin down and slower with it raised high up 😊 When it’s raised up you sink the tail causing more drag which slows your speed down 😊

      @roamingwildcampers2745 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@shannonainsliesurf Technique to it, to hard back you sink the tail too much....Watch Mick Fanning,, he gets it spot on..All in the physics "The Oreo Biscuit Take Off Technique - Catching Waves"...I guess like everything else, you have to get the balance right..As long as the wave gets hold of your board all is good, fast means little...

      @roamingwildcampers2745 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@shannonainsliesurf Love your vids don't get me wrong, another factor is it's not your chin on the board giving you more speed..It's more arms, deeper strokes as your laying flatter...Lay flat, your weight of your upper body is only marginally forward of laying and arching up...Deeper strokes is the speed, not chin on board weight forward..
