Suuuuure, no fear. 🤔
@@mtw1234 haha
@shannonainsliesurf I would have crapped my pants.
OK, won't be going to Norway.
Haha oh no 😬
It’s probably not the surfing itself, it’s that surfing tends to attract a crowd both on the water and on the beach. Maybe all that human activity will affect the birds. But it’s ridiculous to think that the surfing will affect the birds. Surfers don’t like obstacles in their way. Such as other surfers. That’s why when someone finds a “ secret spot “they’re always reluctant to identify it. So if you have birds, floating or swimming on the surface of the water, and you paddle in, it’s not going to be pleasant at all to have that distraction. In all of my years of surfing, about 40 years now, I have never heard of a bird being killed by a surfer. Never. I just got off a cruise that had an ornithologist conducting various experiments and surveys. She surfs.
That’s a good point. It could be the case. Thanks for sharing
Ah no way! Here in Brazil you cannot surf Ilha dos Lobos by paddling surfing because of some marine wildlife that surfers doesnt to seem to be a treat. Also, Santa Catarina beaches stay closed for three months on the best surf season because of the predatory old fashioned Pesca da Tainha.
Ah no that’s a bummer to not be able to surf the best surf season there. I hope you still get good waves somewhere though 🙌
Man not one guy brave enough to help you respect my guy many would have crumbled and been dinner
@@drevil3606 thanks bro. God bless
Every government should be encouraging surfing for everyone’s health and wellbeing.
@@paulsmith5167 That is true! It is good and important for our health!
I bet it was hella intense being stuck in the flat with no waves right after the attack, but whites don't really want us that much unless they are starving and if that were the case, they would have finished you off and fought over the scraps. Sounds like your paddling drew one and then the second was trying to beat the first one to whatever it was heading toward and you got slammed in the confusion. You seem to have gotten VERY lucky that the strike didn't cause a mortal wound because it could have, or you could have lost your arm entirely.
I don't know what is more confusing: arctic surfers or great whites in the arctic....
@@MrGiova-ep7kj haha. Well i tried to make the title include 2 things 1. who i am (an arctic surfer) 2. a shark attack survivor (which happened in South Africa)

@@lretxxz well some say that they aren’t allowed to be there either, but there is a sign of a surfer holding a surfboard at all these places and are places surfers go to, not kiters. And on top of that we know only of surfers who have been chased and fined by these law makers

I remember this too and I'm glad that you survived this Shannon, what a crazy situation or any surfer or anybody who loves the Ocean, this is a big fear. It is their house though and and we respect that don't we. We try to obey the rules and accept the risks. All surfers know the rules about surfing alone or venturing away from the crowd. You make yourself prey when you do that. The title is of this particular video is misleading though, I'm sorry to be so petty, but not really because I know there's no Great White's in the Arctic. It says Arctic surfer survives two great white attacks. That's a little misleading brother. Anyway you told the story well so I subscribed to your channel and gave you a thumbs up brother. Surf the Oregon Coast sometime. I am a Native American Commercial Fisherman, I assure you there are Whites here. But from Mexico to the Northern part of Alaska, I've never seen a more beautiful coastline than the Oregon coast. Peace brother 💙 🌊
@@Blackwolf-l2z thanks for your reply. Nowhere did it say the shark attack happened in the arctic. I live and surf in the arctic and I was attacked by 2 sharks in South Africa. Wow. This is in the same realm of idiocy as when some California beach politicians decided to ban beach access due to Covid-19. I wonder how a lawyer might fare in arguing in either case that his/her client(surfer) should be compensated for “pain and suffering” due to not being able to surf? 🏄
