The #Lota or #mug in the bathroom reference is the first tidbit we identify as a #GoraTrait. We wash, the world just wipes. 🤣 #Rick has been to India, he should have known!! The #Pakistani reference was Indian stereotyping... the Pakistani asks questions and makes notes, perhaps for reporting back to their country or to plan an attack. By the way, we sing the same #HappyBirthday tune here, only, we have a super famous #BollywoodVersion #BaarBaarDinYehAaye, which is in Hindi , which is played at most birthday parties within #HindiSpeaking communities.

Ok so about the points that you didn't get,
    1. When he referred to the Bangladeshi guy, it was like boasting about the sea-link to the guy, because bangladesh is a very poor country and they don't have good infrastructure vis-a-vis to india.
    2. The point about the pakistani guy asking these questions, js a reference to pakistani's being stereo typed as terrorists and when the attack of 26/11 happened the terrorists came by the sea route, so it was kind of making fun of the fact that the pakistani guy is asking all the entry points and police protection, coz they plan to do a terrorist attack...

And please stop being a keyboard warrior, sitting behind a computer and talk about shit that you don't know. Don't believe the biased News channels in india, they have their own political agenda.
And if you still don't trust me, then please feel free to come to kolkata and contact me, i'll take you to the rohingya dominated areas in kolkata and show you what the ground realities are. Don't talk about my GK, i am well aware of what is happening in kolkata and surrounding areas.

Actually in India, celebrating Birthday with a cake is something that was not there. It is something that we learned from the West. So, cutting cakes, blowing candles, singing birthday songs was not part of our original way to celebrate. So, basically we did not have a song as such. But there was this one old movie where there was a birthday song, and it was sung by Mohd Rafi. So that one had its own tune, and that was the song that he referred to there. But otherwise, in general, we just sing "Happy Birthday To You" in the same tune in our birthday parties. :D

  • @bosgaurus1

    Korbin,
The Happy Birthday/Baar Baar Din Ye Aaye song reference is to a song, sung by legend Mohammed Rafi, from a 1967 spy thriller called Farz (it sounds like "furz" which means Duty).
The movie is worth searching out because it spawned a couple of sequels which did even better and brought Indians their own Bond in Agent 116, Gopal Kishan Pandey. Most of the songs are by Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar.
The song, Baar Baar Din Ye Aaye, is now part of most, if not all, Hindi speaking household cultures, and is sung during everyone's birthday celebrations. A good guess is that it is probably sung at least a billion times a year.

We do have the same tune. The Hindi version of happy birthday to you doesn’t really exist, He’s just referring to a hindi song.
