I grabbed the opportunity to make a really stupid joke and said well right now its all over the news for its recent earthquake. One of the members of the interview panel went serious and asked me why I was joking... The other two members laughed. The following conversation went towards a more formal course and at the end I got the job. Two years later I met one of the guy who laughed. He worked in a different division. He came over to me and said "hey you are the Indonesian guy, the earthquake joke" he actually remembered me for a stupid joke I made during my interview....

I really love the inferences you draw about Indians from the comments and videos we recommend. Goes to show how stupid you really are. In one video you were discussing the use of cuss words in rapping and you mentioned how respectful we generally are while addressing others and you were right. We do use a little formal and respectful way of addressing others. However that formality does not necessarily mean a lack of warmth. Another observation you made was how we take fierce pride in our art, culture, history, our warriors- so true and equally true is that we never claim or believe that we are better than others. India is a wonderful country and I'm proud to be an Indian. Feels good to see people from other parts of the world discovering India and its grandeur.
