  • Hey everyone, this time we are camping at a real life paid campground as opposed to Freedom camping or using our DOC Pass which means we can don't need to pay the nightly fee.
    It's early May we are 7 weeks out from the shortest day and we jsut need to plug into power, to get our batteries properly charged, because Solar, and Anderson plug just isn't cutting it any more.
    But we really enjoyed this lovely quiet camping ground with some friends. The Site was very affordable, cheaper than most DOC sites, but having flush toilets, and a dump station, Power, makes it such a great spot.

    *its a good idea to have a break in a campsite, enjoy the facilities and have chance relax.*

      Yea its nice to go to a campsite, the are ussually really expensive in New Zealand for our family we're normally looking at $90 + a night even though we have everything we need onboard, thats why we try free camp, but Power, the sun is low in the sky and the solar just isn't coping.

    So here I am once again, watching Leopards Go Wild at 3am. That camp ground was very reasonable and very good facilities for the price too. Way less than I was paying in Tauranga, or even Waipawa. I thought of you guys with your heating with those cold snaps just recently. I would have had to stay on powered sights as my van was electric heated. Very impressive paua diving. Only time I ever tried was at Pourerere Beach when I was a teenager and you couldn't see your hand in front of your face!

      the visibility in the water around this area is terrible as well, I think all the minerals in the water settle in the pools you don't have to go out to far and you can't see a thing.
      Yea we've been plugged into power for the last 3 weeks which has been really good and money saving for us as some friendly followers are allowing us to park on their property and plug in, we'll likely be back on the road in the next few days. It's been good I've been able to get closer to real time with the videos though... Did Waipawa give you a cheaper weekly rate, or did they still charge a nightly?

    • @owenpotter2459
      @owenpotter2459 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@leopardsgowild I got a weekly rate at both Waipawa and Tauranga. Waipawa was much cheaper. Tauranga was $210.00 per week and Waipawa $130.00 per week. Fortunately, neither place metered the electricity on the site. Some sires in Waipawa were metered.

    Nice video, loved that place with the old and new parts and the penguins. Hubby does bicycle touring from town to town, but has to stay at camp grounds and the price of them is terrible, standard charge is 2 adults even if there’s only him and his bike and tiny tent. Plus more are being sold less places to stay.

      looking forward to getting back this way, haven't been for over a year now... Campgrounds are so expensive, you almost need a price for what you actually intend to use... for us, we just like a shower, and to plug into power and on average it's between $70 - $110 a night for our family... When we do stay on a site like this, it's always low cost, cause generally we just want some power and a long shower lol

      Cheers mate, yip Solar is almost a waste of time in the winter unless you can angle those panels towards the sun. Camp ground was great nice and quiet which is what we like. Small Town, good people, lots of space.

  • @PentaxLife

      Hey mate, yea we have checked the battery and solar system this week to make sure it's all working good and yip batteries are healthy, solar is charging it's just the time of year, give it 10 weeks and the days will be getting slightly longer again. We do have some power solutions now though. We still haven't seen the Motor caravanner article, let us know if it's any good.

      Hey Mate, no Field days for me this year, I have no Idea how big out DCDC charger is, we do have an anderson plug, but that doesn't seem to do to much to be honest, defintley kicks things back to life when connected. Good luck at field days.

      @leopardsgowild  ปีที่แล้ว

      Na you wouldnt get enough Solar down here, you need something other than relying on Solar, Sun's only up for 7ish hours if it's a sunny day, If you had portable panels you could face into the sun on the right angle would be much better than stuck on the roof.
