  • How to quit Benzos? This is a topic that is very near and dear to me. I'll also discuss my recommended Benzo taper schedule. I want to reframe the question though because when asking that question, that sort of assumes that when someone is on Benzos you need to quit them.

@@stevechan6244 I would talk to your Dr and try to get prescribed diazepam as it’s the most easiest to taper off. I’m currently on 6mg a day ( which isn’t a large amount). To put it into perspective 1mg of Ativan = 10mg diazepam. I’m on liquid diazepam so I can reduce at 1mg increments. I’ve also stopped taking it every day. I try to go as many days as I can before I feel the withdrawals coming on. It’s a slow process but coming off benzos too fast is horrific. So yeah I’d advise you to talk to your Dr about this. @@ryanstoudt8381 yes. I experience this symptom 9mths med free. I am physically and emotionally blunted while my brain is healing. Please inform yourself of protracted benzodiazepine injury. I noticed I was injured for 12-18mths after each benzodiazepine cessation.
Please also become aware of the concept of “kindling.” My withdrawals and injuries became more severe and more protracted with each successive benzodiazepine cessation. I have a very specific view of benzodiazepines (procedures only, physical tremors) You don’t use a drug class used surgical sedation for anxiety. You just don’t. Now that I’ve been severely injured from prescribed dosing (daily and initially PRN) I realize I was unknowningly getting hurt while ON a benzodiazepine (tolerance withdrawals /interdose withdrawals) that was taken 1x/day @night for sleep, and also while stopping (Protracted Benzodiazepine Injury/BWS), becoming impatient and discontinuing the last 0.5mg/day in 60 days. I used to champion their use, now I completely disagree outside very specific cases. My brain is still bathed in glutamate from this syndrome. Calcium Ion channel+ messed up. I have movement disorder like akathisia and 24/7 internal vibrations, depersonalization/derealizarion, severe tinnitus, physical depression, blunted emotion... 40+ symptoms that are FACT not fiction. Medicine needs to hear these stories. The are real and EVERYWHERE. You don’t take these things daily. Once you get old and have renal impairments, benzos got wrong anyway? By that time, coming off is a horror show? It can be a horror show after 4 weeks? I’ve seen it? I hear about it daily? These stories are out there!!! It’s not addiction, it’s a potential neurotoxin.

It is the most traumatic event that ever happened to me. It is absolutely inhumane. Thank you for saying that doctor. I was fortunate to have another doctor read the Ashton Manual and treated me and let me taper to my own accord for two years and then I leaped. However, those two years I was mostly bedridden and suffering daily. Still am. Things lessen but we need help and there is none available. My primary doctor said Protracted Benzodiazepine Withdrawal Syndrome is impossible, that it can not last two years. He is wrong. I am suffering still physiologically. They can have tolerance withdrawals which then causes them to go up in dosage PRESCRIBED by their unknowing or apathetic doctors. Do not criticize or degrade people who are taking as prescribed calling them destructive addictions. Wait until you're Ina nursing home and are given it with no warning and then ripped off and living in hell. The withdrawals can cause permanent brain damage and even death you tw@t. I hope other physicians will listen to Dr. B! Don't miss the story beginning at 22:00, where he describes empowering the patient. So many of us could have avoided a lot of hell, if we had a doctor that understands the absolute terror of having a dose taken away too soon, and the method of letting the patient choose which dose to lower or cut out, is simply brilliant.

@@maclardy I understand that fear! A really good one is so hard to find. Communicate your fears and sometimes they will implement a "plan B" or backup plan for you, in the event the worse happens (like with a colleague they recommend) which can help you with the worry and anxiety! No insomnia, no panic attacks, etc for me when I did a slow taper over 8 months or so THERE is hope, you can do this, just taper slowly, if it doesn't work the first time i8t will at least make any withdrawal symptoms less severe. Start tapering now, follow your doctor's advice as each person is different. You can do this!!

your work is not going unnoticed. i got myself into a pickle but im almost out of it and it was just a dumb but high dose 4-5 day binge at first. then it hit me. fuck. i HAVE to take more now since i didnt stop at day 1-3 and took way too much. it gets you so easily.this started the 18th and it was a bromazolam binge and i tapered that down RAPIDLY from the insane doses i was taking. (i dont know, it was unmarked blotted paper supposedly 100 3mg blotters but they didnt perforated it.but it got up to 50+mg a few days id assume) up until a few days ago. it was very bad for a few days.
i didnt sleep for 3-4 days and then a few days ago i satarted clonazepam after getting down to guesstimating 6-12mg of bromazolam. i took 1mg in the evening and slept not well, but i did sleep and felt SO MUCH better.i took 0.5 mg of clonazepam last night and didnt sleep well. im waking up alot and swaeting a bit. i plan to see how i feel tonight. i want to try and jump off now but if i feel as if i wont sleep i will take another 0.5 tonight and then maybe 0.25 the next night. i was so close to being in the meat grinder. These are powerful, very useful medicine. they can be lifesavers but INCREDIBLE respect must be given to the medicine and most importantly, yourself. Dont put yourself through hell. it took me until im 32 this year to finally know who i am and want to be. i have almost conquered my mind and i will continue to grow stronger and do shadow work my entire life.
People like you Doc are saving so many lives that will go out to exponentially grow this network of helpers and GOOD KIND HUMAN BEINGS! We will change the world!
also psilocin in micro doses and after the taper, proper macro dose could transform certain people and help waaayyy over 50% of people that would try it. we have so many plant medicines out there. dont even get me started on ibogaine. much love to everyone struggling.

Reduced your intake by 25% every two weeks. If time isn't an issue you could go longer. After you feel that you are ready, reduce it to another 25%.
For example, I am currently taking a 2 mg Xanax bar.
    1. Take 1.75mg of Xanax for two weeks
    2. Take 1.5 mg of Xanax for two weeks
    3. Take 1,25 mg of Xanax for two weeks.
    4. take 1.00 ng of Xanax for two weeks.
That is about two months of tapering half my dosage.
If I repeat those steps I will be Xanax-free in 16 weeks, 4 months!

This would probably resolve a majority of peoples' anxiety symptoms... it's much easier to cope and practice what therapy teaches you when you're taking care of yourself. This isn't what people want to hear from a doctor, but these people also don't understand what they're getting into with benzos. People are obsessed with "fixing" problems instantly with a pill, probably partially because Healthcare costs are so insane. No one wants to pay $30-40 to see a doctor for 15 minutes only to be told what they already know.

Withdrawal from opiates/benzos is the absolute WORST feeling(s) physically, psychology, emotionally, spiritually. I dont wish that oain on ANY person! Im currently on day 8 of withdrawal from benzos/opiates. I dint know how im still breathing/my heart is still beating. The racing thoughts, desire/urge to hurt myself just to stop the thoughts/pain, throwing up/diarrhea, hot/cold sweats, headaches. It's absolute torture. Thank you for posting extremely important videos regarding withdrawal. I'm probably going to call/go into a medical detox because this is too much pain 😔 but this video did give me 22 minutes of encouragement/hope. Thanks.

Xanax is basically banned in Australia. Its an S8 medication which means it’s basically impossible to get thank god for that!
It seems to be useful for 3 days then your tolerance grows, your addiction grows and suddenly you’re up the creek. I got addicted in the 90s. Had a bottle of 2mg x 100!!
After a month of light use it became apparent that my anxiety was worse than ever. I only took them initially because my separation from a terrible person was very stressful! I had never really had anxiety before. I know what anxiety feels like, everyone gets it sometimes, but normally I didn’t suffer from it.
Xanax actually gave me anxiety. So to fix the problem I dissolved 15 tablets in 60 ml of water in a bottle.. then I would dispense myself 2ml of the preparation at night time and top it up with freshwater each time and leave it in the fridge. That’s only one milligram and every time you have it afterwards it’s dosage is decreasing in a inversely proportional taper - painless. Worked like a treat.
You just have to remove any temptation of taking Xanax when you are a little bit pissed off or upset. I threw them in the toilet- devil’s brew!
I am glad that XANAX and is banned in Australia because I can see the problem caused overseas by its continual dispensing.

My son is addicted to Xanax and he’s thinking he can do it himself because he has no insurance, but he’s going to see a doctor soon.thank you for not making this like a infomercial where we have to wait in a minute you’ll tell us and in a minute you’ll tell us you just told us everything so thank you very much. You got reduced 1mg? That is totally irresponsible of your Dr. 1mg of klonipin= around 20mg of Valium. Here in England they don’t taper you off klonipin as they only come in 0.75 and 2mg tablets. Instead they switch you to Valium which is one of the easiest benzos to taper off due to its half life and you can come down in 1mg increments. I was switched from klonipin to Valium and I’m now down to 6mg and feel fine. Hope things go well for you.

Thank you for your video. Are you familiar with the psychopharmacologist Heather Ashton’s work or willing to get educated on her work and the Ashton Manual? She dedicated her life to successfully getting people off benzos safely and humanely by an extremely slow micro-taper. I’m not an addict. I’ve been taking Klonopin as prescribed for near 20 years, and her method is what everyone in the benzo community (people who are like me) are advising.
Basically, if you don’t know Heather Ashton, you don’t know Benzos. Thank you if you respond because we, in the benzo community revere her work, for good reason. My question is whether you’d be willing to educate yourself on it. The more aware doctors we have, the more effective, safe and humane our tapers can be. Thank you ☮️ We truly need benzo wise doctors to effectively help us.

I was put on a high dose of clonazepam in 2003 and told it was safe for my anxiety and tremors. Now all these years later and living in a new state. I went to a clinic that was great until they stopped prescribing Benzos. Cut me off cold turkey. after 8 weeks of torture and hallucinating I seized and almost died. In the hospital, they put me back on the medication and I was fine. Found a new Dr who reduced my dose and I did well. My problem now is I have been told I am now 80 I have to be on this for the rest of my life. Most Doctors do not know or understand the danger of this drug. This Dr is well-educated on drug interactions and I wish to god I could find a Dr with this level of knowledge. I am on 1 MG 3 times a day. I was taking 2 mg 3 times a day.

I’m on the low dose once daily for 6-7 months and now cutting it by 1/2 and still doing well. Again thank you. I’ve always tried natural things but in this case I need professional help.
