Most fucked up part of Ichibei's zanpakuto is that, when Ichigo first met Old Man Zangetsu, the first time he tells Ichigo his name, the *text in the speech bubble* is blotted out and the bubble itself is fractured, explicitly stated by Kubo to be because of Ichibei stealing Yhwach's name. Ichibei's direct influence was felt almost 500 chapters before we were introduced to him.
Except Yhwach says simply altering fate isn't enough. You're just jumping from one grain of sand to the next while he looks down from on high. The only way to counter Yhwach is to evade his sight, and that's what Ichigo's Bankai does. Specifically, Old Man Zangetsu's part as the sheath hides Ichigo's second bankai blade, thereby leaving Yhwach vulnerable its power
I think the most terrifying part of Urahara's bankai is the "restructure" bit. The guy he fights can become immune to any specific kind of damage he's taken once (and the full form he uses while facing Urahara can apply that immunity to any damage of the same fundamental type). I always believed that once Kenpachi had "awakened" after his training with Unohana was done, the eyepatch was more symbolic than functional. I know that he obviously became exponentially stronger once his subconscious shackles were undone but I thought the Unohana fight also cleared him of wanting to supress himself in order to prolong fights. Was there something in the manga about him getting an improved eyepatch to once again hinder his power? I know he immediately removed it against Gerard so I guess that answers my question.

Kenpachi's current eyepatch drains 10x more reiatsu than the previous one. In the light novel"Spirits Are Forever With You", Kenpachi had Mayuri make him a new one after his fight with Cien Granz and Kenpachi Azashiro. So the eyepatch is not symbolic. It still hinders his strength by an extreme degree because Kenpachi still likes to fight using handicaps.

yep Zaraki's bankai is not complicated. It just fills the user up with immense strength. So much so infact that even Zaraki himself isnt able to fully tame it currently. Basically his bankai is a multiplier on his own strength. Meaning any other captain who is physically weaker, lets say Soifon who primarily excels in speed and assasination style combat, is arguably physically one of the weaker ones "strength-wise"(i know she is plenty strong, but so are practically all captains lmao, for this example i am just assuming her excellent and destructive hand to hand combat as a testament to her martial skill not physical strength) Her having a strength multiplying bankai won't help her too much. But for someone like Zaraki, this is just the perfect one. A simple bankai that just makes him a monster. Long story short, his bankai isnt broken, he is. So imo his bankai should be below Kisuke and Shinji,
Not only that, it turns the user into a berserker, meaning anyone without incredible instincts would thrash about at everything around them instead of focusing the aggression on the enemy. Kenpachi has both power and fighting instinct in spades, and...not much else, so the loss of intelligence isn't much of a downside. It's unknown if it keeps the implied aspect of "there's nothing he cannot cut" (supposed ability to cut anything the user desires, including concepts like space. It's not a confirmed ability as far as I know, but heavily implied since he phrases it as the ability of his zanpakuto)
I fully maintain ichigos power is litterally that he is the main character. Hes able to ignore things like fate or future vission because hes unbound by those concepts "able to write his own story" so to speak. It plays into both ywach and uryu as well. Uryus power being the antithesis id name ichigos shrift(if he had one instead of zangetsu) protaganist. Id love to see a video comparing the bounds of “limitless” power types such as wish granting, imagination and alll other manifestation types. I know they’re has to be subtle differences in how the play out with them coming from different universes, just an interesting idea. Have a great day!
While a video would be nice, we don't really need it. Those powers are always limited by how the user uses them, that's their only flaw as seen with Gremmy, the brain in a jar. He is the most powerful sternritter, but only if he would use his ability to it's fullest. Which he never does, because he never needed its full strenght before as everone knew he was the strongest. And that impeded his killing potential greatly. He could have just imagined Kenpachis head exploding and be done with it. But due to his inexperience with such opponents, he didn't. And that's the case with most powers in this vein afaik. I mean, he could have just imagined Gerard and Lille dead, and it would have worked. But as always wiht such powers, they don't ever get used to their full potential because their users are not te brightest. In every series i can come up with at least. There are for sure some more obscure cases, and a video about them would be really nice tbh...
Unohana and Zaraki exist simaltaneously because Zaraki begins to subconsciously hold back and Unohana didn't want to kill a kid. Unohana also got rid of her original name and the title of Kenpachi, starting the lineage of the other kenpachis in the stories of Bleach.
Unohana didn't hold back then, and she only won because Zaraki didn't want to lose her, the only person who could scratch him. So he lowered his strength subconciously. There's a nice panel where you see him lower his sword because he was going to kill her and he didn't want the fight to ever end. He was always stronger than her, even as a kid. That's the "sin" she mentions, she made him weak just by existing, and his joy of battle (not killing, just fighting) did the rest. That's why she died happy, finally the kid from back then returned to its full strenght, which could evaporate her at any time. She knew she was already dead since back then, this fight just gave him his strenght back.

Which in turn is one thing that i never understood. The title of Kenpachi is given to the strongest shinigami of that era, right? And yet old man yama never held that title. But he obviously should have been. There are severeal reasons i could think of, but it's never hinted at why exactly that is in the source material. Sorry, but this bugs me since a long time. Projectiles, attacks, and even the environment itself would temporarily be redirected and/or weakend or strenghtened.
Unohana's Bankai is not acidic. When Zaraki states, "I'm melting", it is symbolic. He's stating that the person he thought himself to be, the faux Kenpachi in name only with restrictions that he placed upon himself so that he might find the enjoyment of battle once more, is falling away. After being killed hundreds if not thousands of times and revived, he is finally reverting to his true self, the shell of the former Zaraki melting away to reveal what he was as a child-a skeleton swining a sword, a true God of Death who affirms his existence in battle. It is why when he looks upon Unohana at this point, he sees he for what she has always been, the same skeleton swinging her blade that he used to be and has now become again. Reducing Minazuki's power to acid robs the entire emotional thrust of the relationship between Zaraki and Unohana and his awakening in that battle and reduces it down to, "Acid blade goes hssssss". The anime finally made it abundantly clear with the styled shots of the white background as he is stripped of all pretense that it is symbolism. No more acid nonsense.
Bro, it being acidic makes sense with the shikai. Minazuki swallows you and heals you in its stomach. Wouldn’t it make sense that her bankai was acidic since the stomach contains… ACID. That doesn’t hurt the emotional thrust of the fight. It can be both physical and metaphorical at the same time.
symbolism plays a significant role in Zaraki's battle with Unohana, and the melting dialogue is indeed metaphorical rather than literal. The emotional depth of their relationship and Zaraki's transformation would be diminished if Minazuki's power was reduced to mere acid.
Senjumaru's bankai should be in top 3. From what we've seen she can rewrite fate itself, which is a nuts ability. Sure the likes of Yamamoto and Zaraki hit hard, but messing with fate is on a whole other level.

Ichibe isn't just "the first one" which is why he can name things, he also was granted the ability to name things and know the names of all things, either akin to a scrift like Ywatch from the soul king, or his full inherent ability. He didn't just name them because he invented them, he named them because it was his supernatural ability. This is directly shown when he reveals the names of Rukia's and Renji's Bankais to them. He literally knew that Zabimaru gave Renji a fake name and partial bankai and told him its real name.

@lightswitch1483 But if you take the anime literally, Senjumarus bankai already killed them in the future. They all die in the way pictioned in the anime in her bankai, so i just give her the ability to alter fate. Which would be almost on par with Ichigos.

The bankai’s power being based on the user is a weird and fun question. One the one hand, the Bankai comes from the soul of the soul reaper wielding and growing with the zampakuto, making the power of one exactly equivalent to that of the other. On the other hand, the sternritters stole the bankai and used them a little worse in some cases. Although that could be a matter of technique and practice rather than raw power. So idk, I’m in camp: the power of the bankai is the same regardless of the wielder since they were created by soul reapers

@@huntertezz True, I assumed that Bankai would be upgrades of the Shikai but that likely isn't the case. It would make him 20x stronger than the average male his size, but that would no where near compare to the level of strength these guys are at. As Yhwach stands at this point he would be Billions and billions of times stronger than the average male. The black ant would make him either, in your case a man who can lift 20x his body weight. Or someone who has the actual strength of an ant it's self. Both are interpretations, but either way both would nerf Yhwach times billions.

We see it for such a short amount of time, and as such it doesn't get all that much of an opportunity to impress, but conceptually it's one of those Bankai that are similar to Ichibe's Bankai, it just works on a more mechanical level rather than a conceptual level.
That's hopefully one of the reasons that we are already through 2/3 of the source material at half time of the anime. I hope they do it justice in the anime.
Love you nick, thank you for all the videos you've posted this past year its helped me get through some tough times listening to you talk about all my favorite worlds.

I'd have Senjumaru's at #3 above Yamamoto's, Ichibei at #2, and Ichigo at #1 despite not knowing what it does. It was strong enough to challenge a Soul King amped Yhawach using The Almighty in a future timeline, no chance Ichibei can do that.
Zangetsu's raw power has 0 answers to Ichimonji's hax. Ichibei will always win against Ichigo
@@asaadbinamir7816 I agree with you here. Ichibei's abilities are just broken. I just don't see Ichigo countering this ability.
Senjumaru’s is now at least top 10, the other members of squad zero are also now up there with just raw power. Only ones close enough in raw power to them is Ichigo, whose’s probably stronger them all at this point, Yamamoto.

@@Zaillogical1 Didn't he just bypass an ancient curse. That Doesn't mean Ichibe wouldn't win. Plus just because Hikone can bypass ichimonji, this doesn't mean other characters can.
yep Zaraki's bankai is not complicated.
So like super saiyan
No it's not, in every case, a bankai is an upgrade to it's shikai. There is no bankai that is simply a stat boost.
Thats why no matter how hard ywach trys to alter the future to break the sword he cant ever really get rid of it

Unfortunately for Gremmy, he has the same weakness that everyone else has: Kenpachi Zaraki
@@certainlynotmalo1.0.0 Never said Unohana was holding back; Also first person he ever met that could give him a good fight*. If he met Yamamoto during this time he would've been ash
@@Frstypwngaming
Then i missunderstood the "she didn't want to kill a kid" part. I thought that implies her holding back. Honestly, i don't even remember if she said something like that or not. Did she? I only remember the pile of corpses, and her almost getting killed until Zaraki chose to hold back. The rest is a bit nebulous. But yeah, Yama should absolutely pulverize him.
And thinking about that incident brought that thought back once again...

Dang bro, he said maybe
Bro, it being acidic makes sense with the shikai. Minazuki swallows you and heals you in its stomach. Wouldn’t it make sense that her bankai was acidic since the stomach contains… ACID. That doesn’t hurt the emotional thrust of the fight. It can be both physical and metaphorical at the same time.
@@MrBobby-jx3pg nah Im recommending bro start a channel if he diving this deep on the symbolism. 😂I’m not just joking either
Bro he said it MIGHT be acidic, there was no reason for you to write a small essay.
symbolism plays a significant role in Zaraki's battle with Unohana, and the melting dialogue is indeed metaphorical rather than literal.
And a fate that's inescapable even if you survive her bankai. Your fate is sealed and you'll get a final destination type of death.
What’s it doing to Yamamoto tho
@@BeneathTHeaveans That's a good question. From the Gotei 13 he's the cloest to the powerlevel of Squad 0 members. I think he could brute force his way out of her bankai, but that's just my guess.

7th Kenpachi had a forbidden bankai straight out of a horror movie. And Rukia reaches absolute zero. Which is a concept that u don't want to be affected by as a living being, unless you're not trying to be alive anymore. And freezes whatever she's touching. Like when she stood on the ground, the earth beneath her froze and caused tremors. Give her Yamamoto reatsu and soul society would either be destroyed by earthquakes or freezing
Definitely deserve honorable mention
Senjumaru's Bankai Shatatsu Karaga Shigaraminotsuji is definitely top 10 because yeah
It’s such a simple concept but it just allowed kubo to characterize so many characters so well!! I love it😂❤ so many different bankis and 98% of them are dope(renji will never get a pass😂)

If I’m not mistaken she essentially resigned as kenpachi after her fight with kid zaraki. She knew from that battle that she no longer deserved the title
Thank you. I almost thought i was mistaken, but nah. Those people including him haven't read the manga at all it seems.
Oh man, don't even tease me with an All Bankai Explained, that sounds so good!
Why don't we talk about how EPIC the first release of a Bankai is every time

i think unohana stepped down from captain to learn kido, and in that time kirinji, the OG healer, got promoted to 0, so Unohana then took over his old healing squad, leaving squad 11 with no captain and she had stopped being on the front lines
No she was already a Healer when she got stabbed by Zaraki. The real question is who was the captain of squad for before she took over? The top 3 placements are gonna have to be redone once part 3 & 4 of TYBW come out, but solid video. I would move Shinji's down the list because it can be handedly countered by an opponent using aoe attacks (As we saw with Bambietta) especially if it's in a 1v1 situation. I'd also throw Senjumaru's up on the list cause 1) It can shake three worlds/dimensions/realms (However you wanna put it) simultaneously, and 2) Create perfectly tailored one-shot kill moves against insane opponents. Think of it as Shunsui's bankai, but customized perfectly for every person hit by it.
shinji went back to shikai form when he went to fight bambietta tho.
@lightswitch1483 But if you take the anime literally, Senjumarus bankai already killed them in the future. They all die in the way pictioned in the anime in her bankai, so i just give her the ability to alter fate. Which would be almost on par with Ichigos.

So many weird mistakes in this video, like he didn't even bother to read the manga and just watched some other youtubers video to make some money. Almost as if he looked at it, but stopped thinking about what was meant. Kubo is the master of "show don't tell" in all of shonen entirely. Honestly, putting bleach into shonen jump was a compromise. It would have been way better as an adult manga. A lot of younger readers don't get this approach to storytelling at all, leading to all the hate about everything bleach does right. For a more experienced audience, at least. Without a bit of knowledge about eastern religions you are lost, no matter what.
But if you know, everything falls into place really nicely. You just can't expect that from uneducated western manga fans... Thus all the hate.

I just wanted to point out that according to Kubo Hitsugaya had already achieved his Bankai before he even entered the Gotei 13.
When did he say that, because that is contradicted by the manga.
nick u amazing
We can anticipate his bankai transcends all his soul powers into a single source
I think if Aizen had a Bankai, it could function like Gremmy's power. The upgrade to making everyone believe that something is happening? Actually making it a reality.
Or it just isn't that useful. Aizen prefers his shikai over it for a reason.
@@huntertezz True, I assumed that Bankai would be upgrades of the Shikai but that likely isn't the case. I've always had an issue with Ichibe changing Yhwach's name to Black Ant because ants are able to relativily lift up to 20x their own weight so in tern, would you that technically male Yhwach stronger that he was before? This is a serious question cuz I've been wondering this from the moment I read this in the Manga
Say banki with a space every time he says banki and also take a shot 😂
