This area is so fascinating. The number and variety of bunkers, and gun emplacements, clearly shows how much importance this point had. And it's so awesome to see how well maintained the bunkers, and the guns, are. Seeing them with their original camouflage paint, and fixtures, still in place, without the usual modern graffiti, and rubbish piles, is so refreshing, and really gives a great impression, as to how the area looked when it was in use. I especially loved that little touch of having the lights still on in that last ammo bunker. That was just so special. Thank you both for bringing this all to us. Looking forward to Part 4! Cheers to you all!

That was quite the place HH and EE. We wouldn't be able to experience those WW2 historical sites without you. Well laid out defensive positio, so well constructed. The first fire control bunker with the MG Tobruk that you took us inside was so interesting. Very fortunate to have the original 15 cm gun there. Wish you could have accessed the V174 bunker. EE sure ran up to the top of the radar bunker in a hurry. Looking forward to what EE will be doing with the helmut you found. Thanks so much EE and HH. ❤

Hi EE, EE, EE. Wish I had half your energetic enthusiasm 😂. What a location for the Fire Control Bunkers. Thanks for taking us inside the one with the Tobruk. Boy, were they ever solidly made. Yes, no bonking heads. A shame the V174 was fenced off. It's awesome that EE was able to climb up the Wurzburg-Riese radar bunker. That was great that the 15 cm was there for us to see. Neat ammo bunker. Don't mind seeing the run of the mill 622's. 😂Yes, watch out for those spiders 🕷 HH. Thanks so much for taking us EE & HH. 😊 Keep smiling. ❤

Man, I would probably have to be dragged off of that site! Was terrific that the one 15cm gun was still in its original camo paint. Even if I had been in the same bunker design at other sites, I'd still be crawling through them. Coastal artillery has just always fascinated me. Again, shame some of the bunkers were closed off. It's amazing that most of these structures were built in the two year span from 1942-44. General Blumentritt, among many other Wehrmacht officers, was skeptical that the Wall would succeed. He said that once the Wall was breached, the guns would be pointing in the wrong direction.

    • @genes.3285

And if we believe Albert Speer, which I do, the war was already lost by that time. More precisely, in November 1941 with the failure of Operation Barbarossa. Germany was not equipped to win a long war.

It’s great to see that some locations are well kept to protect the history of what happened during this time period. When I saw the first bunker with the slots having glass in them, I thought someone had turned it into their home. I'm looking at 3 levels of cement ... built in 3-4 years max. The time to not only build the structure but also to make them operational, which tells me, supply of gypsum and various other materials had to be shipped etc, waiting. Good video. The weight of that 15 cm gun assuming its over 12 thousand pounds for the barrel all takes time, not just to move but to have it installed during construction. Now i have to consider that France and surrounding areas, has winters too. I wonder what current european winters are like along the coast there?

So well looked after, and maybe even cared for. Make a nice change not to have mindless graffitti all over the walls. I noticed the windows in some of the fire control bunkers, as if someone planned to live there, all I can say is WOW being able to live in one of these would be awesome. Thank you both for sgaring this with us, and I cannot wait for the next video of this site. Stay safe and well my friends

Even tiny ww1 bunkers are still in situ..... these massive ww2 bunkers will still be here in 10,000 years.

I really dont agree with people locking things off thinking they 'own them'. All this belongs to THE PEOPLE not one person. The government should outlaw the closing off of imprtant historic monuments.

Did Germany lose ww2 because of their skimpy bunker sizing ? What a miserable existence. They were able to spend top dollar on equipment yet offer lousy housing to their front line soldiers
