      Thanks for this. I flew 36 hours in Casper, Wyoming back in 1998 but didn't complete my PPL. But, on my return to Liverpool I had other (financial) priorities so didn't continue. Finally decided to start again, 22 years later, but the Phraseology and VRP (visual reference points) is totally different so while I aced the first 10 hours, i.e. combining 2 to 3 lessons into 1 lesson, the moment I got into the circuit, I got stuck. On about 27 hours so far and should go solo soon but once I start the VOR/navigation and cross country, I expect to return to my former level of proficiency.
      I have XPLANE 11.5 and use a Honeycomb Alpha yoke, Bravo throttle quadrant but since the Charlie pedals aren't available yet, I have the Thrustmaster TPR pedals. I also wear an Oculus Rift S headset which enhances the VFR flight. Like you, I bought ORBX GB North, Central and South plus most of the airports in the UK
      I've been meaning to get into VATSIM and your tutorials will be of great help. Hope to spend all day Friday going through them. Just been holding off because it seems daunting. In fact, I'm hesitating now as I hesitate in comms. Don't know why but comms in the US just seemed a lot less formal.

      Good choice for niche youtube videos. Most newbies to simming start with airliners, which is totally wrong. Learning pilotage, dead reckoning, pattern work, flight planning, weather briefing, etc is totally possible with msfs. Follow a RW training syllabus in conjuction with RW $100 online ground school is the best place for newbies. Not affiliated. Thanks Good presentation!

    I love flying VFR because of the navigation. Makes you feel like a real aviator 😉 In fact, if I'm flying one of the A2A models I often disable the GPS to practice that way. Although as far as VATSIM goes in the US, it's almost like flying VFR even when you're IFR sadly because you frequently end up squawking 1200 ☹️

    • @AviationPro
      @AviationPro  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't fly tubeliners very much and prefer low and low as i mainly fly the A2A Cessna 182 or Carenado B1900D. I have always wanted to try out vatsim but thought it was for IFR so this series would be perfect for me😊. I have Orbx England/Scotland and Wales and i realise this is not photoreal but hope it will be good enough to learn with.

    Question: Do you think that VFR gets a completely new significance/attractiveness with MSFS 2020 and the incredible realism when it comes to scenery? I myself can't wait for my new PC to arrive and MSFS is installed, configured and ready to go.

    • @AviationPro
      @AviationPro  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it will. I'm personally enjoying VFR flights with MSFS a lot. For airliners, Prepar3D is still the best. But for VFR flying, MSFS is simply fantastic, even though some things still need adjustment.

      @@Speed_Check Every aircraft has a different takeoff speed. For a Cessna it’s about 55 knots. For an airliner it’s around 130-140 knots. Most complex aircraft have performance charts to determine the takeoff speed depending on your weight, temperature, pressure altitude and flap settings
