I don't know you personally but I can say how proud I am of the way you both have carried out your dreams and how wonderful you both are as parents. You can tell it's not just for the camera, and also not allowing Hollywood to walk into your lives and ruin it, I commend you both for that. The dream you have made for all of you is just amazing and because of it and the lives you live, your children will reap the benefits of it and carry onto their children. Love it!

Here in the UK, we traditionally used to decorate for Christmas on Christmas Eve, when all the family arrived to celebrate together. The decorations then stayed up until twelfth night. The 6th of January. Think of the Christmas song "the twelve days of Christmas". I find it helps keep the spirit of Christmas going over the New Year. Happy New Year to you all.

As an Idaho native trapped in Texas, I am always transported back to younger days when I watch your videos. You all have built a beautiful homestead and your viewpoints at the end of each video seem to crystalize so very eloquently, thoughts I have had at one time or another. Keep the content coming!! I will some day move back to the most beautiful state in my heart.

My house is still decorated on the inside, I did take the outdoor lights and props down a week ago. I am keeping my tree and lights up for another week! My tree is still in good shape and the house feels cozier. Pre-Christmas is so chaotic I don't really get to relax and enjoy all of the work it takes to make a cheerful environment. 🎄

This morning I was just thinking about the things your ending comments reflected on. As a retiree, one really discerns what is important and what is not. It’s not the bucket list or what I should have done years ago, but what I can do for my family and others around me right now. I want my grandchildren to remember the good and memorable times. I want my son to know how proud I am of him and how much I love him. I thank God for my life and what He has done for me in it. No doubt there will come very hard times, but stay close and love one another. ❤😊

It's always hard when you achieve big life goals only for the novelty to wear off and for it to become just apart of life. I've learned it's much better to place your long-term happiness in focusing on what you want your dream rhythms of life to be instead of stuff (a house, a job, etc). And of course having hope outside of this life. Beautiful video!!

  • @Lex_Koncord
    @Lex_Koncord 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Just watched the year end video and wanted to post here:
You were talking about a barn for your horses but weren’t sure about a stall - I assume you’ve seen them, but just in case you haven’t there are “indoor outdoor” stalls you could build where there’s a normal indoor stall inside a barn but it has an open door to a small fenced in outdoor area behind. Might be a good compromise for the boys. That way they can be outside/not feel so trapped while also being able to come in from the weather when they want

I know the feeling. I just finished my huge metal roof. I envy you guys having each other to work as a team and to give one another encouragement. I have done all the masonry work and now, my metal roof all alone. The panels were 28 ft long and there were 56 of them. The hard part wasn't always pulling those 28" metal roof panels onto the roof and anchoring them in place. Often times, the hard part was working by myself and not having anyone to share the sense of accomplishment with. While I think you have a nice homestead, I'm not nearly as envious of the property as I am with you having each other and your family to share it all with. :)

What an achievement though! I did the same. Massive garden project. Hundreds of bags of top soil. Rubble. Fence panels. Deck panels. Moved it all myself. It was exhausting. Took weeks and weeks. It was so difficult not having anyone to share it with. Bounce ideas off. Making all the decisions myself was hard….but it’s done. I love the way it turned out. It’s hard being alone sometimes I agree. Well done to you. 😊

Moving your family away from the masses and creating your own world, yet using what you’ve learned along your way, has to be the most powering of all things! Your children are among the most fortunate in the world and my prayer is that they appreciate and hold on to what you two have created for them. There is so much knowledge they can learn as you continue through your experience. Keep it up and continue to move forward! Create for the children and let them learn from you. The love you put out is so powerful!! Your caring for those in need is also commendable and has to feel amazing!

You could put a tall plant in that corner if you don't want the piano there. Plants always look so pretty in a house anyway, and it would get a lot of light there. During holiday season, you could move the plant to the corner next to your slider in the master bedroom.

@@GoodSimpleLiving Dearest Melissa, although we have been watching your family for quite some time now, it does not feel like we are friends chatting online. It feels more like family we haven't met in person yet, and the fact is, we are! And someday we will all meet together in Eternity. What a joy that will be. We agree the epilogue at the end was beautiful and in fact they all touch our hearts every time, but that sign you made "Our children are our only earthly treasure we take with us into Eternity" touched so deeply it brought tears to our eyes, no truer words have been spoken. We want you to know how much each episode means to us and what a blessing it is to us and so many others, Christian, or not. A lot of people did not have this kind of family growing up, thank you and Jeremy for the beautiful example you are to so many. I would like to use this quote on a picture of our family, could I have permission to use it? If so, thank you And God bless. Can't wait for the next episode.

Happy New Year to you all! Y’all accomplished so much in 2022 and I know 2023 will also be a wonderful year of working on all the things you want to get done on your property. You built a beautiful home for your family and I pray God will continue to bless you in the coming year.😊

I once left my tree up all year and just redecorated for the next holiday. A fun thing for the kids to make new decorations for the tree. Mainly white light and added a color for the holiday, red for valentines, orange for halloween, etc. it became a real talking point with guests.

Happy New Year to you all.
Melissa, your knowledge of how to produce products in the kitchen is so informative.
Those doors looked so heavy that you both replaced, Jeremy did a good job of fitting the new door.
Love to you all from Mike. ❤

It seems like it’s always more fun putting up holiday decorations than taking them down. Love the mirror! I went many years without a lot of wall space. We’ve just recently built and now I have wall space! I plan on filling it with family photos. Happy New Year🎉

Its nice to see you still have Christmas in your home. The kids must love it, too! And, As does one of your viewers in the UK, here in my family we celebrate Christmas up until after the Three Kings' visitation (or the twelfth night). We never rush the holidays! Happy New Year to you all! ❤

You both have accomplished so much in such a short period of time. Truly amazing! I am in my ninth year trying to get my home built in north Idaho but that is the perils of long distance building I guess. Keep the videos coming!

I love the new door. It takes a long time to get your home decorated to your liking. I also do not like the house after taking down all the Christmas decorations, so I have decided to keep up for the month of January what I call my Winter Scape. I collect glass trees and silver deer, so I display them a bit longer. I can't attach a picture to this post, or I would. I would have bought the wood tree Jermey had in his hand. Happy New Year to you all!

Good choice on the buffalo painting. It's well done. You have to look at it awhile to flesh out the image. Perhaps Jeremy can put on his Tutanka coat and wonder among the grazers to find out who sat for the portrait. ;-)

After you are done shopping for the day and if you still want more unique decor. Buy a blank canvas with earth tone colors or any color you like to use it on the canvas. Have each member of the household including parents and make something really unique. Something that everyone put their signature on it. Something that will tell who they are by the colors, design, etc. Then, you can use a monochromatic color to blend them all. This would last for years to come and will always be a conversation piece not to mention all the memories it will bring.

Great video! Thanks for sharing! We love fireworks but don’t do them at our farm because they terrify our horses. We put the horses up in the barn on New Year’s Eve and the 4th of July so that neighboring fireworks won’t cause them to run off and get hurt. Happy New Year! Look forward to 2023 videos!

We love your videos and hope to start our chapter on our property this year! Jeremy have you ever bow hunted for elk? That’s one of the way we fill our freezer along with deer hunting… I do know north Idaho can be a tuff hunt but so rewarding when you pull a package of elk meat out of the freezer on a cold winter day to bbq or make a stew! Take care we wish you all good health and happiness

Here in the grey Seattle metroplex, the tree comes down about now, greenery from around the how starts to go as it dries into a perpetual mess, the lights come down in late Feb. Basically late Sept through mid March aspects of the fall and winter decor cycle through and the lights stay up the longest.

Well 2022 ended and the family is now all moved in and settled into the home. You all have come a long way and the home looks fabulous. It will take a little time but the artwork and things you want to fill the home with will come. Even after the holidays the Mrs. still puts up some decorations on the mantle above the fireplace. The mantle scene gets changed as the seasons change. So now its has some pieces to make it look like a winter scene. Then as the year progresses the mantle looks different. Happy New Year 🎈🎉🎊✨🥳

Yet another inspirational video! The way you handled realizing the door wasn’t right was so easy and natural. No wringing of hands, like I’d have done. Inspirational in that you moved on simply to the new door and showed how it’s easy to not sweat the small stuff. The new door, btw, looks so much better as it matches the dark window sashes, along with the trim. The choice of the mirror was genius, too. Though that room gets tons of light, I bet on a dark day it’s dark. This will allow what light there is to bounce a gross the room. And, it fits with the cabinetry perfectly. My only complaint is that Jeremy wasn’t wearing his tatanka coat when you were shopping. I’ll admit freely that I sin by coveting that coat! 😛 Can’t wait until next week’s dose of kindness and grace. ❤
