i really like it when a piece of hardware has randomizing functions. it works wonders when you cant be bothered to program stuff yourself. btw this thing sounds superb

Interesting combo. I suggest you check out some classic DX7 patches on the Volca FM, some sound even better than the KORG presets! You can load and manage them with Dexed. 'Wet Piano' is my favorite, especially played with a real keyboard. Ambient dreams! I've had some great ambient times with FM1 and NTS-1 for effects
My only beef with the wavestate random patcher is the low % of useful rolls. My guess is that the control set is so deep, then times 4, that there are so many parameters that need to be a certain way, at a minimum, to get something really cohesive and special. That could be a good topic for a yt video series. Like run 100 random rolls on everything that does it to see just how much good stuff they actually generate..

THANKS for the video! the FM preset sounds are cool, but even on that lil machine, the sounds are TOTALLY able to design from the ground up. its really an impressive little box. have you tried any of the Twisted Electronics stuff like the MEGAFM or BLAST BEATS?
Question for those who have used both the fm 2 and the old one with the pajen firmware: With pajen firmware you can control velocity EIThER via the slider OR via external midi keyboard. Not both. You have to choose in the Boot settings. Can the fm2 do both ?

Thanks for this. I just want a small poly synth. I don't have a clue how to "craft" FM synthesis. I just got a Meris Mercury 7..so Reverb is covered. If I can edit the presets, it should be fine, for my needs. I really want a Minilogue XD Module, but I don't really have room, and it's twice the money. It gets crazy..Not being a real keyboardist, the rabbit holes are insane, in the synth world. If you have any suggestions for something more nubie friendly, I'm all ears...ha! Thanks!

My Korg Wavestate has the random feature and it does produce happy surprises.

How have you got the MK2 effecting the FM? I’ve not been able to get the general FX to work on the MK2 input signal, only the specific Input FX.
Make sure that the external source button on the bottom right is turned on - now anything plugged in will be effected too
@@LiamKillen yeah, that’s on but the only effects I can apply to the input sound are the “input fx”

Not internally - some machines need external FX to do the ambient thing. The FM 2 is good to go though
