Yeah Sam is the grandparent everyone dreams they could have! The man had tons of knowledge. My grandpa’s knew a ton but they are dead and gone now and I have was old enough to enjoy the knowledge they had being they both was gone before I turn 9 I do remember car shows and my dads dad working on cars but that’s about it! But they was in Sam’s generation my dads grandpa was a big cat nut and he probably tough me something same as my dad did on working in them and collecting cars and old tools a oil cans but moms side showed me how to box and the reason I became a golden glove boxer when I was 17 because I kept after it when he passed away and then military for 10 years 2 of those was a contractor until I was injured and got my tbi medically retiring me! But not I enjoy Muay Thai and Jiu Jitusu and have been passionate about both for 20 years now! Sorry for the long comment. Memory lane of everything I still can remember!
I could also listen to Sam all day. It was great to hear how he came to youtube and his point of view. Such a great guy. Like others have posted I also lost my Grandparent before I was 5 and I never had the otlder generation to have exposure with.

Sam mentioned he still has many of his original set of tools,, I'm 75 and still have and use tools from my original set of Craftsman I bought for $149.00 in 1968. Good tools are lifetime investment and they'll usually give you good service if you take care of them. Thanks to Cleetus, Sam has become and continues to be legendary and we're so happy he's a part of the Freedom Factory Team. Rock on and stay healthy Sam,, we're counting on you being around for a very long time to come.
Loved hearing Sam talk about being a USAF mechanic, and how serious the job is. Not only is the pilot placing his life in your hands, but also his family's future. Training pilots is a major investment for the Pentagon, so they are a valuable resource to be protected. Making sure bolts are torqued to spec isn't an option, it's life or death.
Sam is my favorite member of McFarland Racing. So humble and soft spoken, but he's probably forgotten more about racing than all those young guys know! Thanks for posting this. You need to make him a regular guest. I could listen to Sam for days!
I had the honor of meeting Sam at import vs domestic, my bf watches cleetus videos and I don't know why but I fell in love with Sam and who he is and his passion and love for cars. I lit up like a Christmas tree when he started talking about the 442. My father passed down a '65 442 to me when he passed, and it's an honor to be able to own a piece of American history. Hearing Sam talk just reminds me what America is supposed to be about. No B.S. no negative talk, no nonsense. Just good old-fashioned conversation about your life, passion, and what you've learned. I just finished watching the video and this is the first one I saw from Bogetti Studios. You absolutely knocked it out of the park. I loved seeing Sam and hearing his stories. Sam is probably about 10 years older than I am but I remember a lot of the same things just not quite as early. We grew up in a great time and got to see some amazing things happen. I’ll always be grateful that I grew up during these times. I’d love to chat with Sam sometime. We would have a lot in common. He’s a great guy and I can relate to his experiences. I've been looking forward to this one. Thank you Coop for letting Sam just tell his stories uninterrupted. History told from his perspective/time is rare to find in this form. The take away from this is: Ask questions to your elders, they almost always have an interesting story or three to tell. As a 32 year old with no grandparents alive, I really wish I had been more inquisitive when I had the chance.
I'm not a big interview person but lord have I always wandered about Ole Sam's past!! This was so nice to see because you just know he's a special person in everyone's eyes!! We can only hope to be half the man he is!! I hope Sam gets to see how much we love him!!

Cooper, First of all, I must tell you that you have found your "niche" (or "specialty" if you will) doing these interviews. Out of all the podcasts I've followed, this is by far the benchmark for others. Years ago, following Garret around with a camera did your talent no justice. Someday, when you are at some award ceremony and winning an award for best podcast or interview- remember I said it first. As for Mr. Sam, You have immortalized one of the most beloved, yet humble people on the planet. Let's face it, I have NEVER seen a negative comment about the man, ever. Sam is a good dude. Ain't many fellas like him left. I'm 44 and when I was growing up we had lots of Sam's. Their knowledge and experience are more valuable than anything. Soak it up.

Hearing them talk about Smokey Yunick brought back a lot of memories for me. I worked at McLaren Engines in Livonia Michigan back in the 80's. I mostly ran engine development testing for GM and one project that I got to work on was a Smokey Yunick hot vapor engine. It was a GM 4 cylinder with Smokies hot vapor setup on it, I believe it was 1986 or 1987, so long ago it can't remember exactly. Without a doubt McLaren was one of the best jobs I have ever had, so many interesting projects and great people. Anyway, I am loving hearing Sam talk about his life experiences.

Every word Mr Sam speaks had me reminiscing to conversations with my Dad. He was a rocker in the UK in the 50's, riding a 650 BSA Rocket. We've built cars n bikes over the years and now my daughter, of 18, has joined the family need to get oilly. My Dad, 84, has just taught her to change brake pads. I watched in awe and felt such love and pride. The 'old skool' boys may not know the plug in stuff but they kick ass on mechanics!
Thanks Cooper for doing this side of it! I’ve been waiting to hear backstories for a long time, but of course I’m a “history” person. I love to hear how and why someone became what they did.

Sam seems like an extraordinary example of someone who cherishes the past but also welcomes progress. He'll tell you all about how things were back in his day, but he isn't stuck there.
The most important thing I took from this, was right at the beginning. Sam said it and I believe it, this field has a competitive attitude but then he helps her and she helps them and they help everyone else. "Being #1" is not as important as "being there", for someone else. You see it time and again in pretty much every video and every channel. Humbling man.
Best podcast yet imo coop don’t get to focused on the audio the way you are doing it is much more realistic than sitting in a room with 10k worth of mics I’d rather watch this all day long

Love Mr. Sam. "The Uncle Sam" of the racing community. Love the history, as my dad was a mechanic and street draged a 55 chevy and beat the new corvetts , he bought a 63 impalla convertable and my mom eventually traded it for a ' 74 , 260 z . boy was dad mad. But i was pretty cool going to the local dairy in it.
I finally stopped to watch Sam and Cooper B.S. for over an hour. I’m glad Jackstand found Sam in the hood. Nothing but pure mentoring knowledge and memories that makes me smile. McFarland racing has brought a jewel into the media limelight. All this guys are relatable to us all that live cars. Original Boosted boy for sure.

First of all, I must tell you that you have found your "niche" (or "specialty" if you will) doing these interviews. Out of all the podcasts I've followed, this is by far the benchmark for others. Years ago, following Garret around with a camera did your talent no justice. Someday, when you are at some award ceremony and winning an award for best podcast or interview- remember I said it first.
As for Mr. Sam, You have immortalized one of the most beloved, yet humble people on the planet. Let's face it, I have NEVER seen a negative comment about the man, ever. Don't get me wrong, so far, every interview on your new forum has been great, but this is BY FAR the best of them. Thank You Both, for this episode- I hope there will be more of them! Sam seems to be so Genuine, Honest and all around Great guy! You can see in his Eyes how much he loves being a part of the Cleetus crew. I couldn't be more happy for him! These are fantastic change of pace from the typical videos with this crew. If you're looking for suggestions, love to see an interview with Steve Morris. Hes very generous with his knowledge of engines but it would be great to hear more about himself.

Awesome Interview! Sam is such a positive energy force and when I watch videos with him its like my granddad is back with us for a bit. Its crazy how much he reminds me of him. So glad he's crossed paths with good people and has such an interesting history to share!
Sam is a good dude. Ain't many fellas like him left. I'm 44 and when I was growing up we had lots of Sam's. Their knowledge and experience are more valuable than anything. Soak it up.
My favorite one so far. I've been waiting a long time to hear Sam's story and it doesn't disappoint.

Hearing them talk about Smokey Yunick brought back a lot of memories for me. I worked at McLaren Engines in Livonia Michigan back in the 80's. I mostly ran engine development testing for GM and one project that I got to work on was a Smokey Yunick hot vapor engine. It was a GM 4 cylinder with Smokies hot vapor setup on it, I believe it was 1986 or 1987, so long ago it can't remember exactly. Without a doubt McLaren was one of the best jobs I have ever had, so many interesting projects and great people. Anyway, I am loving hearing Sam talk about his life experiences.

Copper this is the best podcast I have ever listen to and all it was was Sam talking about his life it was like I was in a trans and I didn't want it to finish I got to give Sam and you a BIG tums UP this podcast is what a podcast sopost to be I had so much fun and I wanna say thank you to you and specially to Sam you guys killed it.
I grew up next door to Sam. Much respect to that man for his wealth of knowledge and humble demenear.

Every word Mr Sam speaks had me reminiscing to conversations with my Dad. He was a rocker in the UK in the 50's, riding a 650 BSA Rocket. We've built cars n bikes over the years and now my daughter, of 18, has joined the family need to get oilly. My Dad, 84, has just taught her to change brake pads. I watched in awe and felt such love and pride. The 'old skool' boys may not know the plug in stuff but they kick ass on mechanics!
Sams knowledge is just next level. Different to modern day - but more pure and more back to basics that matter. Love it.

The most important thing I took from this, was right at the beginning. Sam said it and I believe it, this field has a competitive attitude but then he helps her and she helps them and they help everyone else. "Being #1" is not as important as "being there", for someone else. You see it time and again in pretty much every video and every channel. Humbling man.
Best podcast yet imo coop don’t get to focused on the audio the way you are doing it is much more realistic than sitting in a room with 10k worth of mics I’d rather watch this all day long

Love Mr. Sam. "The Uncle Sam" of the racing community. Love the history, as my dad was a mechanic and street draged a 55 chevy and beat the new corvetts , he bought a 63 impalla convertable and my mom eventually traded it for a ' 74 , 260 z . boy was dad mad. But i was pretty cool going to the local dairy in it.

I finally stopped to watch Sam and Cooper B.S. for over an hour. I’m glad Jackstand found Sam in the hood. Nothing but pure mentoring knowledge and memories that makes me smile. McFarland racing has brought a jewel into the media limelight. All this guys are relatable to us all that live cars. Original Boosted boy for sure.
