Just wanted to say even though it doesn't seem like you get a ton of views, these videos are gold and should be preserved, even if it's just for nostalgic purposes.
Yeah that's what happend to tower records before they closed for good...they had to sell figure as well to try to make up the difference in lost of sales...block buster video did that as well
Love it. A couple of years ago I shot some video in a Barnes and Noble for no other reason than I love the atmosphere and worry that the place will disappear sooner than later. This is my kind of stuff.
Barnes & Noble and Books A Million. They always went with it at each other when it came to competition. But when Amazon launched in the 90s, they said "Hello!" and walked right by them and started books, too. Well, yeah, that's how Amazon started, by selling books. That didn't age well lol
I remember when lines were this long at Barnes & Noble. I worked there in 2008. Every register was ringing, staff were held to a high standard; promised to find the book for you even if you couldn't remember the author or title. It was only books then until the Nook started to appear.
@@matthewbaduria not really. It used to be a booming business back then, but Amazon stole the show when it first launched it's website back in the 90s. It originally sold books and gave B&N competition. There's close to 600 stores still operating in the United States today. There's two stores in my neck of the woods.

Thanks that makes me happy 😊
@@vampirerobotWell YOU make US happy with all of these! Incredible stuff.
I worked at a barnes and noble 2003-2006...best job ever...best coworkers too
I love these videos! Something about book stores in the early 2000s hits different, back when they weren’t covered in toys and pop figures.

Truly miss this era when people were very fascinated and put too much attention in reading books. 😞

Pretty good idea Mike.
Subscribed. I was 18 in 2000. There was always excitement in the air for the future and technology yet was still a simpler time
I would say the 90s was the last great decade overall, but 2000 was the last great year...
Everything changed in 2001 and has gone downhill since...
Every single person is paying with cash. The things you forget. We need to get back to paying more with cash.
Did you get "back to paying more with cash" in the last month or so?
There are "cash stuffing" videos out there, for your information.
Instant nostalgia
Awesome Nerdbama...such a great time it was

Right Mark. Nobody really foresaw Amazon as a major threat. B&N was smarter than some...creating a very large online presence very early on.

I am so glad that B&N customer service has not changed 🙏
Interesting to see how things were a year before I was born.
0:56 so cheap for a book
Would go in the 90s with my mom and read all that computer and gaming magazines for free
Good times for sure 👍
