- More footage at a Barnes and Noble store in 2000 but this time from July and in a different state.
Shots around the store, titles of different books and a nice look at the magazines.
This video last around 5 minutes.

B&N hasn't changed at all since 2000! 😆
Exactly what I was thinking!
Toys R Us
Exactly! 😂😂😂😂
The books on the shelves have drastically changed
@@captain_hammer4760 lol
Damn 24 years, and it's like nothing has ever changed. Gotta love the fact that the kept everything original.
I still have my paperback copy of Guinness World Records 2000 edition that my mom got me for my birthday in 2000. B&N hasn't really changed much since then.
Barnes & Noble still looks identical to this very day, right down to the signage in the children's section.
Look at how bright and airy and mellow everything/everyone was, B4 that one September morning.
Not until next year.
I often wonder if nine eleven was the cause of the change with people’s behaviors and characters. But I feel that it wasn’t until a few years ago that I noticed a change in everyone
@@brittlia_ I wasn't born until 2003, so I wouldn't know. I hear people talk about how 9/11 changed America. It's sad to think people my age have been living in a world forever affected for the worse our whole life, never quite experiencing the calm of the pre 9/11 world.
@@brittlia_ Just because you didn't notice it doesn't mean it didn't happen. I don't believe it was 9/11 directly, but the choices made because of it that kicked the division into high gear.
Some of us actually predicted the quagmire Iraq would become, and that it was pointless. It was clear to see if you could remove the emotion. Personally, I think the absolute starting point was the 2000 election, where the supreme court stopped the recounts and essentially handed the election to W. It enabled most of the bad things that followed.
@@bubbythebear6891 I feel bad for you folks because it's true. Being an American and living here has never felt quite the same since that day. I had turned 22 a month prior. It was a hard day.
In the 90s I used it as my personal library. Never got kicked out. Books and magazines!
I can smell this video!
Smells like Starbies 🥰☕️
Incredible...just wow thank you I was 19, I remember going to B&N and looking for new car magazines
Me to brother!✌️
Those two young people at 1:04 can very easily be from the last decade or from today. Not much difference in fashion and overall vibe they give. This footage could very easily be from only a few years ago, were it not for some dead giveaways, of course.
The dead giveaway mostly being the lack of Pop Funko.
Agreed. Some things do change of course, but I feel like most people have not been dressing that differently over the last 20 years overall.
I could go back to 2000 mid 2000's and blend in just well
This is the place I go take pictures of books and then go buy them somewhere for half the price.
That's actually pretty smart
Good idea. Barnes & nobles prices are way too high .
0:28 "HEHE BOY" meme guy is in a book!!!
I didn't know he was in the bussiness of cooking since that time
best magazine selection hands down, whatever topic you were interested in they would carry a magazine on it.
There used to be a Barnes & Noble near my house. I used to go there a lot when I was in high school. Now it is a supermarket.
There used to be a B&N near my mall and they tore it down to build an Aldi. Made me so mad
Looks like the Borders bookstore on Greenville ave in Dallas. Probably would've thought it was if not for the title. Rich Dad Poor Dad was on our bookshelf
This B&N looks a lot like the one we have here at The Shops At Sunset Place, here in Miami.
That's because it is .. 🤣 Good eye!
There's one in Sunrise, FL that I grew up in that's identical to this one. It never even seemed dated to me, seeing the same layout it had since we moved there in 2001. It was just familiar and loved.
I forgot how big their magazine section was.
0:28 It's the "Give your meat a good ol rub" guy!!
"Yaaah boi"
Early 00s day off was to browse B&N after eating breakfast at the huddle house at Johnson city TN...happy days
I shopped at that Barnes & Noble in 2000. I bought a book on investing, and put everything I had in a small stock called Enron. Just letting it grow until I retire, and I'll be a millionaire.
😂💀💀💀
the fannie farmer cookbook, all you need is chocolate. also like the fantasia hat
Luckily, the Barnes & Noble near me are very nice. I feel sorry for the staff because the company refuses to hire more employees and 1 person has to the job of 5 people in a large store. 📚
0:27 hehe yeah boi
When did manga come to Barnes and nobles?
RIP Boarders and Hastings. Is B&N still in business?
Yes. B&N is still very much in business.
B&N is thriving now under it's new CEO.
Barnes and Noble and Books-A-Million almost look like toy stores now.
Around this time on the weekends, a bunch of so-called "goth" kids would hang out at Barnes and Noble, which also had a coffee area with the only place to get Starbucks in town at the time.
A couple of years ago, I hadn't been to a Barnes and Noble in a long time and went just to buy a book and browse like in the old times. I ended up buying three Criterion Blu Ray discs and one book. It is strange how I would look at those discs on Amazon and avoid buying them but as soon as I saw them in the store, snatched them up like I was in the Criterion Closet.
Why do you think you that? Buy right away at the store rather than just look at them on Amazon?
@@vampirerobot, I guess it is easier to impulse buy while in a store. I think they were also having a sale, now that I remember.
This hit me deep.
As many point out, they look almost the same as they always have. A key difference, though…stuff. Trinkets. Tables of little things near checkout stands. No superfluous merchandising here, just books at a bookstore.
Aaaahhhh way back when Americans still knew how to read.
This comment makes me laugh so much because to a certain extent it IS true. Literacy isn't just about knowing how to read words on a page.
I think we read more than ever actually compared to when we just had books and papers back then
@deflategate1297 , we read more now, but we read more garbage, and it is even excused. We are inundated with misspelled words and printed bad grammar.
This one is cool because it's pretty much the same today. (23 years later)
Almost of all that content on the store can now be found on pirated PDFs all over the web lol... That entire store could fit on a single thumbdrive now.
I found Arthur at 0:01.
Good vid
I miss it 😥
It's still around... Or did they close in you area?
I never understood the business model when everything was free at the local library. :-) It was fun to browse, though.
Isn’t that still the current model?
@@brandonb3174 Beats me, I go to the library for free books.
Because some books you can't get at the library?
I was still in the womb while this video was being shot lol
Classic
Unique homes...more like antique homes
Okay, to this day there is always some guy sitting reading a magazine on a bench in Barnes & Noble like that. Though I hear some of them don't have benches anymore.
I remember I used to buy those fossil Pokemon cards in Barnes and nobles
Slow night at the B&N.
Based on mark meadows comment. I still own my Disneyland memories of a lifetime book I got at Disney land gift shop in the year 2000
Good for you. I had a favorite book that I read as a child from Disneyland but I lost it ☹️
@@vampirerobot ahh that sucks. By the way Donald duck is my favorite Disney character
@@danielsantana540 Can't ever go wrong with Donald Duck
@@vampirerobot yes indeed. In world of illusion for sega genesis 1992 game players can choose to play either as mickey mouse or Donald duck
@@vampirerobot oh really then tell me the book name and if you can’t remember the name of the book, you are just lying to everyone that you went to Disneyland
even at this time amazon was eating barnes lunch
Where are the trading cards tho 🤔
I know...I'm still searching
See how normal we used to be when we weren't constantly staring at our smartphones
People are still respectful and mostly quiet at Barnes & Noble, and people still go there, I really don’t know what you mean
Try yelling at clouds, at least they won't tell you to shut up.
