  • The Winchester Model 1894 is the most popular lever action rifle of all time. Having been in production for over a century, millions have been produced and sold all over the world. In this GunTec presentation Larry Potterfield, CEO and Founder of MidwayUSA, presents a saddle ring carbine chambered in 38-55 WCF. This gun features a 20 inch barrel and six round magazine. It has a straight grip stock with the standard carbine style buttplate. A latter type rear sight and a post front are also present.

    I carry my 94 carbine on the right side lever up. This puts the left side mounted ring facing outward making tie/untie easier as well as prevents the lever drifitng down at gallop causing misfeed or jams. Older lever guns actually had a twist pin to hold/lock the lever in place.

    I think the winchester 1894 saddle ring carbine would be the one of the best guns of choice to use in case of the zombie appocalypse, or in zombieland for all the zombieland fans.

    @Leibstantarde Yes, the 38-55 Winchester ammo is available as well as the 30-30 and 32 Winchester Special. The 32-40 Winchester is available from time to time on special runs. But you canbuy any of the brass and reload it yourself.

    I was just given this firearm in 30-30win. It was made in 1916. It's in really wonderful shape! Any ideas how much it would be worth? Just wondering, id never sell it.

    And don't forget it was also chambered in .25-35, a necked down version of .30-30 Winchester.

    I've got a "Villista" 94 SRC. It it is only missing its SR. Stock has a crude cross on one side of the buttstock and more carefully applied initials on the other. It also has non factory applied swing swivels and a thin leather sling. The rifle was made in 1912 in .30-30. It came into the US I ihink in the late 70's early 80's in a bunch of non-military arms imported from Mexico. The SR is missing although the attachment remains. Where these SR's often removed in the field?

    Not being over familier with rifles, could someone tell me what is the "saddle ring" used for.BTW brilliant video.

      Ask 10 people n you’ll get 10 different answers. Somehow you could run a rawhide strap around the ring n up to the saddle horn...maybe

    I'm considering getting a saddle ring safety delete for my Marlin 336. Not that I intend on using it, but it'll get rid of that cross bolt safety, and it'll look cool in the process. Though, I feel wrong putting something on my firearm, when I don't have a clue what it does.
    So, what exactly is the purpose of a saddle ring?

    • @slaughterhound8793
      @slaughterhound8793 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To tie the carbine into a saddle scabbard so that it doesn't bounce out when the horse is at full gallop, before these, cavalrymen actually wore a belt, sort of like a bandolier, which had a hook that attached to a similar ring on the earlier cavalry carbines to keep the carbines from being dropped.

    I really want to get one. What are the different barrel length options you can get? Would these guns kill a grizzly bear?

    I've never owned a lever action rifle. Historically, if one found him/herself in a combat situation, could he/she "top off" the tubular magazine, with a chambered round just above?

    @rayeky12 You know he's not pulling the triggeer right? He's just pulling the lover and ejecting the cartridges, sort of like emptying a gun of its unfired bullets by repeatedly pulling back the slide

    The saddle ring is actually used when you put your gun in the scabbord. Your scabbord is attached to the saddle, and by merely putting your gun in, it runs the risk of falling out as the horse moves. So you tie the gun in to your scabbord, using the saddle ring and it keeps it secure.
