All tiles should be available and placed in a bag. You draw them (Cascadia style) until the board is filled. All leftover tiles are available all game but may not get played vs having those tiles gone right at the beginning. This would give players access to all tiles even if they aren’t all played
If you examine the goal card, you can see that the Castle doesn't count as being a part of the continuous coastline. Only farm, energy, or settlement spaces count.
Not with all the effectively random scoring from those cards. Try Iwari or El Grande. Those are much more distilled. Even Knizia's own Through the Desert and Samurai are more distilled than this by a long shot.
Really not sure how I feel about this abundance of random goal cards being handed out through the game. Seems pretty counter to a typical Knizia design.
I seemed to have missed something - why let opponent keep on building a chain that is longer than 4? Even if you have cards that give 5 points, the opponent keeps on double dipping with each addition to the chain.
She was at 6 pts and gained 4 pts bringing her to 10. The shot at 12:42 just cuts in after Naveen knocked the scoring chip down to pick it up. If you go back to an earlier frame you can see she was at 6 points (11:54)
@@jacforswear18 ahh yeah I missed the little "sweep" to grab the scoring marker and only saw the position afterwards which made it look like it started on 4. good catch!
Interesting little game! Thanks for the video! It was kinda brutal to watch naveen get demolished so bad though lol. Couldnt secure enough castles and let monique get waaaay too many points with that energy chain. Congrats to monique though! She did so well! Over 200 freakin points! I also think it hurr naveen waaaay too much to lose 2 settlements from his pool. Their should be a muligan or rule against that very specific start imo. Thats just too big of a difference to make up imo.
Monique and Naveen, wanted to ask you about Scythe. You always rate it very high, but I’ve seen a lot of people criticizing the game for some of the things, particularly about the balance issues. I like the concept of the game, and I would like to buy it. However, I would really like to hear your stance on the balance issue, and is it that serious after playing it for dozens of times?
I've got over 100 boardgames, many of which with a higher rating than Scythe but no other game as been played as much as Scythe. Everyone who played it with me absolutely loved it, from beginners to advanced boardgamers. It's my #1 recommendation to someone looking for a medium weight game.
I always prefer having everyone look at a board sideways instead of half the players having the correct perspective and the other half reading it upside down.

Heads up, the preview image for this video says Gamefound Gameplay, but as you say in the opening, this is on Kickstarter. Thanks for the playthrough!
Thanks for the heads up! We’ll make that change ASAP 😇.
The game started slow but the point accumulation of the clusters kept me on the hook. Good game!
Thanks for making the video. It certainly looks like a very promising game~
This game looks so good and you guys did a great job showing off the game!
35:28 I'm pretty sure Monique has a 3 tile coastline in the North near Inverness castle. Right?
Really I think it's 4 tiles. 2 land tiles share 1 coast tile.
@@pcarrizal6829 Oh, i agree. What i didn't count was the Cathedral, i'm not sure if it counts as belonging to any player.
@barnibombosz1448 Oh, you're correct. It's hard to tell the difference in tiles. Just seeing blue. Either way she should have won by even more. Lol

This is area control boiled down to its bare essence.

Looks fun, and I love the colourful art. How does it compare to Cascadero for you?

maybe this has something to do with 54 being 45? 🙂
is this a flaw in the game scoring?
Instead of having stacks of random tiles, would having the tiles in bags achieve the same effect?
Individual cloth bags for the tiles were already revealed in the Kickstarter campaign. They are campaign exclusive though.
Yeah definitely!
The kickstarter version comes with bags!
Damn that typo on the score board is embarrassing
What was the typo? Must have missed it...
@12:42 why 6 pts. Vs the 4 pts. stated? Jumped from 4 to 10pts...

it definitely hurr naveen :D

Don’t worry about the haters, it’s a great game. It’s not perfect, but no game is

23:41 54+6 is 60, not 61 :)
Ok but really far too simple for my taste. I understand it can get competitive but feels super limited. Babylonia seems superior in every way
It's just a ripoff of King Builders.
I hate sideways boards
Well if you aren’t filming when you play you can have it right way up… 😂
@@jacforswear18 it’s not about the filming. Boards where people have to sit sideways are annoying. I bet Naveen will back me up 😄
