At 1:03:45 Naveen should have taken 5 points instead of 6, since Celestia has 2 hearts. That would make your final scores a tie. A great video, thank you!
First of all, great playthrough. You both are so much fun to watch and you do a great job of explaining as you play. There seems to be very little room for strategy because of all the sources of randomness inherent in the gameplay. Going first or second (or later) seems to make a huge difference, and that is based to a large extent on the cards you draw each round. The tableau changes significantly every round, and you can't really plan until you know whether you are 1st or not. The adventurers and their ailments and cures change every round so no planning here. Then there is a random drawing from the bag and the die rolling. I see that you may have to shift your tactics based on these events, but am I missing something or is there actually almost no strategic planning possible? I will say that the gamr looks SUPER CUTE! Great content as always!
Naveen (Sorry if the spelling is off) accidentally cheats at 1:03:45 and gives himself an extra point so the scores at the end are a bit different :P Additionally, it looked like he constantly was taking 2 mana costs when didn't need to so maybe that evens out in the end lol
Thanks for doing the playthrough. I'm not crazy about the way turn order is decided since it is so rough to go second and you can't really control your placement with how much variation there is. You can just end up unlucky and picking over scraps multiple turns in a row, which hurts with so few turns.
I would love to see an expansion that's collaborative except with the possibility of a player being a saboteur with an end goal of ghosting X amount of travellers!
how did you feel about the failed potions? its the one thing stopping me from backing this game, it just feels like such and arbitrary punishment for random bad luck....it didnt seem to have a huge impact on the game because the scores were still pretty close, but its just something i dont enjoy in games although i was thinking i could probably just house rule them out somehow
I suppose the failed potions could be a way of making a player think twice about stacking out their board quickly as they risk pulling a failed one. Like you said though, it didn’t seem to affect them much during the game itself, but could have been a decider when it came to scoring when the scores were as close as they were.
I know it plays up to 4, but would you recommend this for more than 2? I worry about the foraging phase if the resources don’t renew between players. What happens if they don’t have enough to draw from the deck or the mat?
Hi there, we only got to play this with 2, but this was also played on the 2 player side of the board. There is a 3-4 player board on the other side which adds more slots for cards.
Can anyone tell me where the cakes come into play? Cause you're brewing elixirs so why are there cakes on the cards that say what's wrong with the adventurers? Just a little confusion but otherwise great playthrough.
As far as I understand, you use the foraged ingredients to make the elixirs, then you use the elixirs to bake the cakes. (I guess they get mixed into the batter) The cakes are then fed to the adventurers to heal whatever ailment is listed above the cakes.
@@carla8478 Yes, the elixirs are the ingredients for the cakes to feed heroes. Confirmed by dev member, they said they originally had another step where you gather other ingredients for the cakes but it made the game A LOT slower. They say this is much smoother how it is now
Check out their campaign here! - www.kickstarter.com/projects/luxlupo/apothebakery-the-culinary-alchemists
I’m on mobile but I think the link is just sending me to this video
@@DatGuyWhoComments Same, the KS link in the description is working
Thanks for the heads up!
instagram was recommending this game to me for months, i'm glad there's finally a playthrough lol

Came here to say the same thing.
Was gonna say this too! Loved the playthrough though
@43:30 - Naveen took 4 resource cards. However the spell card he used to refresh the wilds says he's only allowed 3 maximum.
Also, great video as always. Definitely put this on the radar and followed the KS campaign.
Ahh, sorry was an oversight in the moment! 3 was the max.
I was just digging through the comments to see if anyone else pointed this out. :)
annnnnnnd just backed only a few minutes into the playthrough HAHA thanks friends!!! 🤣

This is so cute and it sounds like it's right up my alley. Thanks for brining it to my attention, guys!

Thank you for the excellent teach and playthrough! Definitely an interesting game.
Glad it was helpful!
1:02:38 It seems like you could roll the die then decide if you want to cast the spell after you see the side effect. This may have changed scoring.
True
Thanks for the teach and playthrough. This looks like a cute game, and I like the ghostly aspect too.
OH MY GOD I'M SO EXCITED YOU GUYS ARE PLAYING THIS!!!!! This game looked so cute and I wanted to watch someone play it so bad 😭😭😭😭
1:03:48 Naveen should have only gotten 5 points instead of 6 because the traveler has 2 hearts left.
great game, presented with skill and joy, as always. Naveen gave himself two extra points in the Master Alchemist phase
Gahhh! I have been so excited for this
Around 42:37 minutes, Naveen reveals a spell card that says wipe the board but only take 3 resource cards maximum... and then proceeds to take 4.
You are right! Made a mental error and forgot about that limitation.
Damn, the cute is off the scale in this one.
🥰
I was on the fence of this game but i end up choosing potions of azerland, feel like they have similar gameplay and POA seems tighter
Probably gonna have to back this, especially since it has a solo mode!
Really like the artwork and theme. The game looks fun. Did you guys enjoy it?
I will be Backing it
This game does not seem to escalate either in difficulty or player abilities - is that the case or am I just not seeing it?
I would love to see an expansion that's collaborative except with the possibility of a player being a saboteur with an end goal of ghosting X amount of travellers!
Interesting!

It's same as bad dice roll. Happens
@patim.4272 sure but to me that's very unfunny nd can be a deal breaker in a game
@robertsilver6181 true. And this is why I like when you can watch playthru of kickstarter game to decide if it's for you
So did they really tie because Naveen took too many points for his first heal of the final round (it had 2 heart which should have been 2 points?)?
Yeah you're right!
No they did not actually because Naveen had 1 mana point left and that got never counted :)
@@timeakiss_ Weird, so you remove the mana token when you're out of mana? huh. I think you're right, it just seems unintuitive.
This game seems interesting, but it does seems a bit pricey, may need to just keep an eye on it for now.

Looks very cute, but very busy for a board game
If you spend 2 impure to heal someone, do you to the side effect die once or twice?
Hi there, yes you are required to roll twice.
Twice.
Was a good game

How the hell will the last player get any resources in a 4 player game? Just the two of you alone cleared out most of the resources each round.
Haha, we are using the 2 player side of the board.
@@BeforeYouPlay That makes sense then. So I assume the other side has higher values?
🙂👍
Seems confusing
Oh dear, the title is really naff. Otherwise looks, like fun.
Why do you think it's naff? Got a better suggestion?
It's the name of the game that actually grabbed my attention as my wifi was weak and couldn't load the image. My kiddo and I both love the name ❤
its a cute play on the word apothecary....you dont have to like it, but that doesnt make it naff based on the definitions i read of that weird word
