Josh, you are probably the most underrated skills wise youtuber I know! That skinny is no joke and you are still crushing it on a hard Tail! Good job homie!!!
Excellent comparison review. Explained characteristics knowledgeably, providing much needed insight. Fun test trails also. Still not clear on which is best... probably the best answer is to buy both! Don't really have the money to do that, but, that would cover so many variables and concerns. If I'm gonna dream, might as well dream big. Great vid man. Information was presented in a very contentious format, greatly appreciated.
I think you nailed it, it's all about your personal feel. My carbon Yeti was made to have a little flex to better absorb impacts. I liked it, but other people hated how it felt. My new alloy 2019 GT Sensor is stupid stiff, but that's how GT wanted it to be.
I don't understand how you don't get more views. Your videos are so well edited. You are confident In front of a camera. All I can say is well done my dude, well done,
Great Clip, I was actually just thinking of the TH-cam Syncr today while I was riding my Stache 5, Keep Killing It!!! And when I make it up to Washington, I hope to shred some trails with you on hardtails of course 🤘🏽👍🏽🤙🏽!!! Live-Life-Loud!!!!
Although these videos are a few years old, watching Jordan Boostmaster's videos in comparison to other YouTour TH-camr's like @dailymtbrider here, is like being around a spoiled negative buddy that never gets pleased by anything he does. Well done DMR for an objective perspective on; pretty much everything you put out. Keep up the great work brother!
Totally agree, you can have identical bikes, but made of different materials and they each will have their pluses and minuses. Ultimately it is up to the rider to decide what feels best for themselves, their trails, and abilities.....
66° on a hardtail? Dang, that's super slack for a hardtail. My bike is a 2019 Cannondale f-si carbon 5 and on the website it says "new slacker head angle for toughest XC courses" the old ones had I think a 71° head angle and the new ones have 69°. Wow 66° seems crazy to me. I am such a cross country guy lol. CHRIS WHERE A HELMET!
Stephen W Carbon wheels + xo1 + kashima sock and dropper + carbon bars + carbon frame + carbon cranks. No way that’s 3k. That’s like 5k in parts without the frame...
i love my steel hardtail. im gonna keep this frame forever. my aluminum fs is my basher bike. one good crash or rock chip and it'll be done. have you ever tested how thin an aluminum frame is? put a hole in it with a screwdriver and you can twist open the metal like a soda can.
does this bike comes with carbon rims?? cuz in the video they talk about rotational weight and it would only be different if the carbon syncr comes with carbon rims
Great review! Being able to go back and forth between the two bikes made this one of the best reviews I have ever watched. Keep up the good work! Ps I want to ride my bike every day but the rain won’t let up:)
I personally ride steel hard tails. Running a 27.5 steel hard tail with a 67.5 head tube and I love it! I am waiting for the carbon model. Kind of bummed they still have had a release date for it. At our shop 2019 bikes are out and DB still has not shown anything on our side of the site..... grrrrr
I was just wondering where that bike was today! How ironic! A carbon hard tail is on the radar (maybe this one) for the near future, so this video was right on time. It still didn’t answer the main question, “which one?” But, it gave me a lot of insight as to their differences. At the end of the day, I have to do what you said. I have to ride them and see which one feels best. Great video! Load that bike down with a ton of your stickers! 😂
none, steel or titanium are still the best technical choices, but titanium you got the money or none, and steel, well, its a mentality change needed cause people keep sayin steel is outdated and "dinossaur" bikes are dead...yeah right...
Hey Josh, Great riding... I'm looking for a new bike... I don't take the risks that you do riding. Jumps, downhills at speed etc I like cross country but I do enjoy rock gardens and some rough stuff Not on the downhills though just too old for speed and falling. What bike is best bike in your opinion?
I wonder what is better if you get a 2000 euro alu bike and a 2000 euro carbon bike, as thats a price where you have to make compromises when getting carbon.
This video was stable and clear, are you using a gimbel still or is this a Gopro 7 black video. Either way a great video, look forward to all your videos. Thanks.
Hey, we have one thing in common, and it's the orange bike stand from Amazon!! Hahahaha. Not a bad stand for $30 or whatever it was. It will hold a 40lb Mongoose fat tire. Just an FYI 😉👍
Great video, what size is the carbon and how tall are you, I am 5'10 and am curious of what size they sent you. Also I am in the market for a new saddle and was wondering how comfortable that Chromag saddle was. Keep up the great videos and see you in the next one.
Actually that much travel on a hardtail makes dynamic geometry a total mess - Imagine hard landing, fork bottom out and right in the moment when you need some stability, your bike changes ht angle from 66 to, like, 72 degrees :o
@@obi-wankenobi9871 trend has been to take all mountain hardtail frames down to 63.5-65 for all mountain riding since only the front goes down, see Nukeproof, Ragley, Dartmoor, Whyte, Bird, Chromag, other UK brands. I agree 140 is probably right, depends on how much front shock pressure you ride for your weight also.

Hi! I gonna buy a double suspension bike, should I get an aluminium with great top components or a carbon fiber one with mid components? Thanks for your vids!!
I have been riding both aluminum and CF bikes. As long as both bikes made by same company, have identical similarly adjusted components and geometry there is only slight weight and visual difference. Everything else is in your head and in price.
Hey Josh, Awesome video as usual! I am thirteen years old and have recently just bought a second hand Transition transAM hardtail with 160mm Marzocchi bombers! I'm only 47kg so I was wondering is that too much travel for a kid on a hardtail? I do ride downhill trails though so it does give a lot of comfort! Keep up the awesome work Josh:)P.S I also know you have a Full suspension Transition that's why I bought a Transition:)
Personally I consider a carbon hardtail frame how I consider Shimano's XTR groupset. A great choice for an incredibly weight focused XC race bike, but in all other instances not worth the extra cost over an alloy frame/XT groupset respectively. In this instance, I definitely don't think a carbon trail HT is worth it. For the price of a carbon HT you can get a really, really good alloy full-sus trail bike.
Personally i think, if you consider buying any more expensive Hardtail, you prob. just dont want to buy a Fully. Dont forget, that HT are more often than not for XC and all around biking, with the option of going to a trail once in a while. Almost any Fully is for doing at least some serious single trails on a regular basis. Or they just want the more rugged feeling and simpler experince from the Hardtail. I agree, it does not make sense to buy the cheapest carbon. If you do it, go at least as far and fish for a modell that has a comparable configuration otherwise to an aluminium frame you would buy.
Great video man. Interesting to hear your thoughts on the 'delay' of the aluminum bike vs the carbon. Oh, got my shirt today man! Looks fraggin schweet! You going to sell those things?
So good to have you on the YouTour, and great to see that bike getting some proper time in the air!
Stoked to be apart of it! And I’m pretty sure the bike gets sick without a daily dose of air time 🤧🤙🏻

Awesome MTB on wet wood too!
And the guy says he hit crab apple hits on a hardtail?! That's insane! Skillz

long climb without helmet = good choice. and also: Me want light carbon HT trail bike! great video
What is the price difference? That might be a factor :)
D K it’s substantial- there isn’t a price for the carbon one yet - but the one I was riding would be at least 4K 😅
sync'r carbon is 2999 on diamondbacks site right now. the alloy is 1199.
Stephen W bass or the spec he had?
For the spec he had. DB only has 1 level for the carbon Sync'r.

The best way to really tell the difference is to ride blindfold.
Not for replace a true rear suspension but: carbon fiber frame+plus tires+cf3 seapost is enough comfy?
has to be one of my favourite mob channels! btw you are so lucky to have the trail systems you have, keep up the sick content, keep shredding.

how do you like the tires of the carbon bike?
You are as happy about that loud hub as I am about mine which are completely silent. Onyx FTW.
How about swapping the wheels over?
yeah that i would like to see the difference
You have such good local trails. Where i live thre is almost no trails at all.
Build them then
I’d love to try one out! Love hardtails! Never ridden a carbon bike but I’m sure it’s awesome, great geometry and specs

Justino 5⃣3⃣ my guess is either race race vault hubs or a rebranded diamondback hubs most likely both copy’s of the i9 torch hubs
Great video, but is it worth the price difference?
Interesting I didn't realize there'd be that much difference between the two.
Hey Josh, is there any major difference between a 2.6 and a 2.8 in terms of cushion on the trails especially on a hardtail ?

Is the slacker hta on the carbon syncr from the longer fork or is it from the actual frame itself? How does it bunny hop being so long?
