    what's the cause for a hard landing here? just trying to learn,was it that he flared too early?

      @josephatie  ปีที่แล้ว +47

      The landing was smooth, but due to my poor camera grip and lack of support, the camera shook upon touchdown, giving the appearance of a rough landing.

      The landing was perfect. GPWS calls out 5 and its a clear indication of low sink rate just before touchdown.

      @@Awetothee The landing was smooth, but the 5 callout is not an indication of low sink rate. The 5 gets programmed in by the company, which is why you hear some videos with the 5, and some without.

    Slightly firm while touching down. Otherwise 10 and 5 after "Retard" is one of the best things to hear in an Airbus - and also one of the rarest in an A320 family member.

    Why did the plane insulted both pilots just before landing

    • @josephatie
      @josephatie  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The radio altimeter is a device that uses radio waves to measure the altitude of an aircraft above the ground or terrain. The radio altimeter sends out a radio signal that bounces off the ground and returns to the aircraft, where it is used to determine the altitude.
      During the landing phase, the pilots are commanded to retard the throttles by the radio altimeter because it is measuring the altitude of the aircraft relative to the ground. As the aircraft descends, the radio altimeter sends a signal to the pilots to reduce engine power (retard the throttles) as the aircraft approaches the runway, which helps to control the aircraft's descent rate. So the purpose of announcing "Retard, Retard..." is to ensure a safe landing rather than to insult the pilots 🤣🤣

    • @josephatie
      @josephatie  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It’s called the trim wheel. It is used to control the trimmable horizontal stabilizer (THS) via cables in the A320.

    • @soujrnr
      @soujrnr ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Trim wheel, so the pilot doesn't have to try to use the yoke to hold a climb or descent.

    • @itsdelex4902
      @itsdelex4902 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @M L well it isn’t a yoke in this case. It is a sidestick because it is an Airbus and it isn’t only used for holding a climb and descent. It can simply be used to hold atitude and maintain an altitude with ease with having to over correct to keep it in a specific flight configuration.

    • @thomasp.crenshaw185
      @thomasp.crenshaw185 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes very hard. The pilot got suspended for 2 weeks after this flight. The co-pilot and engineer complained about him. The landing should have been at 100km/hr max, instead, he landed at 120 or there abouts. This was above regulation and placed the tyres at risk of bursting.

      One, centerline cant be easy to maintain when in the air. Also the its not tilted landing gear, so theres so much pressure on the rear wheels.
