I like the concept of a giant mushroom monster fighting Godzilla or another monster. I just wish Matango was big enough to fulfill that role. Though, I do like it as a kaijin.
I’ve actually always appreciated how small Baragon was. Especially his fight with Godzilla in All-out Attack, you can’t help but root for the little guy just because it’s always such an uphill battle for him
I like how he doesn't get tired during his battles with Frankenstein or Godzilla, I like how he burrows, and I especially like how he looks like my dogs.

Fun fact: the pokemon Nidoking is based off Baragon. Actually, a lot of the earlier Gen I pokemon created were based off of Kaiju. There was even one named Omega which was based off MechaGodzilla. His slot in the ROM was replaced by Mew eventually. There is even an unused base cry based on Earthtron from the Ultra series in the Gen I and II ROMS.
Funny thing about Trivia #8: Gabora was also intended to attack that same site (interesting since he too was made from the baragon suit too) but Magular was used instead since reconstructing the suit would've taken too long

It's easy to understand why they opted for Mothra and Ghidorah instead. Bigger and more recognizable outside of the Goji fandom and also they fit more with what the story was presenting. Because when I think about it, who would be the Mothra and Ghidorah of the situation? Would Varan sacrifice himself to Anguirus? What extra power up could Varan give Anguirus? Vise versa as well. I feel they'd give em some ridiculous power they didn't need in order to do that or it would be a entire different story completely.
When I refer to GMK, I always include B at the end because Baragon was in the movie too. Screw Toho for leaving one of the best monsters in the universe out and not getting recognition for being in the movie. Also, Baragon featured in the black and white Godzilla Game Boy game, where he appears as one of the enemies that harasses you while you work your way through a maze.

I think it’s safe to say that the GMK Guardian Monsters are linked with all 3 ancient statues, however I’m still confused as to how. Are the Guardian Monsters souls locked within the small statues? As when one is disturbed the corresponding Kaiju appears, or am I just mistaken?
I don't know if it was Baragon specifically, but one of the monsters in Unleashed was partially done by having one of the developers' dog wearing a motion capture suit. I feel Baragon is the most likely one since his movements are the most dog like to me in G:U.
He's a particular kaiju that's not often seen as much in kaiju films these days nor Varan, such a pity, those two need more screen time, they're kinda cool.
