I was born in 1946 and remember all the great Saturdays I spent at the theaters watching Godzilla, Mothra, and Rodan movies. A bag of popcorn, a fountain Coke, and I was in heaven.

This movie is without a doubt one of the greatest films in the series! This is Godzilla’s version of endgame at least for the Showa era! Now I really hope that the future films try to give a a modern twist on this old school film.
They tried with Final Wars. But I hated the Gotengo. Definitely not a Moonlight SY-3. That ship was tough. My only question was..Why no laser/maser on the ship itself? It was only on the buggy.
I think you're spot on with this one. Way too much boring human activity, with one awesome final monster battle that ends just as it seems to get going.
This was the first Godzilla movie I saw. Watched it on TV at the age of four in 1974. Still remember seeing Mothra destroy that train and then Toyko get destroyed. This is the "All Star" of Toho Kaiju movies. That's why it's very popular. The plot could have been alot better, but the big fight scene is what makes it so loveable. Good job as always with your analysis! Keep it up!👍
the final fight just being essentially a handicap match between all the Earth monsters beating up on Ghidorah amuses me so much.
Still one of my favorites despite the lack of monster action, the final battle makes up for it. Imagine if Final Wars had followed this more closely and had a massive melee at the end with the Earth monsters breaking free of the Xillians' mind control and battling Gigan and Keizer Ghidorah. Zilla would have really redeemed himself if he got to lunge atop Keizer Ghidorah and start mauling him as an homage to Gorosaurus and his tide-turning kangaroo kick.
That’s a great idea! Except for the Zilla part. Pretty sure the G-Man annihilated the crap out of him which should remain that way.

A monster melee would be what the doctor ordered for Final Wars. I was less favorable of Kaiser Ghidorah, give me the classic King Ghidorah.🐲🐲🐲

I'm glad that when i was a kid i loved everything about the godzilla movies, not just the Monster Action. It was even more satisfying to wait for 30-40 min to finally see Godzilla. For me this movie was one of the best. I loved the Story, the Characters, the music, and the Monster Action.

I have always loved how all the miniature missiles , tanks, arillery, etc firing at the monsters always destroy more of Tokyo than the monsters.
Not gonna lie, This is my favorite Godzilla movie and for a time when I was a kid, it was my favorite movie bar none. I loved it so much in fact that my parents even bought it for me for my 10th birthday, so it was also the first movie I ever owned. As an adult, I can critically look at it and admit that it's not the best Godzilla movie out there, but I still love all of it, even the human characters. Thanks for another great Godzilla history video!

Rodeny Dangerfield as Anguirus is probably the best comparison for the Killer of the Living I've ever seen.
This was the Godzilla film that was seemingly never on TV where I lived in the late 70s/80s. Finally in 1991 I got a bootleg VHS of the original AIP dub. A few years later sci-fi channel started airing it with the inferior Toho dub, but at least the original has been preserved by fans.To this day, it is still my favorite Godzilla film.

I first saw Destroy All Monsters in a movie theater in Oklahoma. It didn't come to TV in the area until a couple years later.
I think the English-language title "Destroy All Monsters" may be one of the greatest titles in the history of cinema. It promises so much! And the movie more or less delivers.

I think it was this film, I don’t entirely remember, but I remember being at my dad’s place before he passed away. We were skimming through tv channels and one channel had the English dub of this film. I don’t remember much of it because I wasn’t really interested in that stuff. (Playing video games).
Though today I kinda think fondly of it. Yeah it was just part of the film but any memory of my dad is a rather fond one. Especially since I’m getting into kaiju films.

My second favourite Godzilla movie.
This is actually one of my favorite Godzilla movies. I don’t mind the human side of the story and I absolutely love the monsters so win-win for me.
I first saw this on New York's Channel 11 in 1973. Ifukube's main theme for this film is to this day my favorite composition of his. And yeah, I did have the video (most likely also obtained from Suncoast!)
I've been going through the series in order after watching a handful out of order. Excited for the next installment in the series!

This movie was a couple of firsts for me. I was about 9 years old and living at Schofield Barracks on Oahu, Hawaii and the main movie theater was only a couple of blocks away from my house. This was the first movie I saw in a theater alone and also, my very first monster movie.
It holds a special place in my memory, though the only scene that stuck with me from that experience was the girl's earrings being ripped from her ears.

I remember reading about this movie as a kid in the Random House book and wanting to see it so badly. I finally got to watch it in the 90’s and was a bit disappointed that the monsters didn’t have that much screen time, as well as Varan and Barugon basically being in it for a few seconds. I still love the attack on Tokyo, the final battle, and the music score.
I lived that EXACT same experience in my childhood. Seeing that splash page with all the monsters together drove me crazy. I had never seen Varan or Baragon at that point. I went to Suncoast every weekend looking for it. I finally saw it on the scfi channel.
I watched this movie when I was 12. Back when Media Play was around when they had VHS tapes.

could you possibly when done the showa era show the history of Toho's other kaiju like the Eight Headed Dragon, Mothra, Rebirth Mothra, Rodan, Varan, Baragon, the 12 Gamera movies, and possibly save Ultraman for last as looking him up he has a boat load of movies and a boat load of tv shows, dunno if ya also will do the history on each game though so I dunno whether to suggest the Godzilla/Gamera/kaiju/Ultraman games
As someone who saw your original video of All Monsters Attack and laughed hard watching it. I'm genuinely curious if your views and opinions still stand upon this re-review. I just watched all your Godzilla videos in order and I noticed that a bunch of movies are missing from this one to the heiser era. Just wondering if you skipped them or planing to do them in the future?
In the late 60s or early 70s i saw a Godzilla movie and never found out what is was called.I Remember a theme park a giant Godzilla building that you can go into.Near the end this Godzilla turns out to be a robot.But i don't think it's one of the mechagodzilla movies.I think i saw all Godzilla movies but never saw this one again
Godzilla vs. Gigan had the elevator going up to the Godzilla building. It shot a laser beam from its mouth, but couldn't move it's head. Actually , it couldn't move at all. And it was in the Godzilla theme park. They reused some of the fight scenes in this movie from older movies, like using Ghidorah and Anguirus from Destroy All Monsters. At this time, Godzillas popularity was on the downside.
The first 2 'Monsters' I ever saw have stuck with me as firm favourites ever since.
1st were the Daleks from Doctor who. recorded episodes and the 60s movie versions.
2nd was The Smog Monster. Godzilla Vs .The Smog Monster was my very first Kaiju film and I still love it today.
The 2nd Godzilla film I ever saw was Destroy all Monsters, so I have an immensely soft spot for it. Also, I don't remember that dummy falling just the guy jumping and then them seeing him dead on the beach. Maybe it was a UK thing?

Also, Godzilla's son, Minilla, is identified as 'Minilla' in only one Godzilla movie, 'Godzilla's Revenge' which technically is not a real monster movie. The monster fight scenes in that movie are only from a boy's imagination. No other Godzilla movie identifies Godzilla's son by name.
Also further, am I the only one who remembers a slightly different version of this movie, where the final fight had altered scenes; one, where Ghidorah lands feet first on Anguirus' back, and a second scene where Ghidorah flies over Gorosorus, whereafter Gorosorus dropkicks him. All the DVD versions of this movie that I have seen do not have these scenes.
At 23:03 : "But Katsuo has had enough and starts to beat the crap out of his girlfriend, becuase he loves domestic violence." This line is so funny!

This movie is good, I came up with a great idea to call Godzilla and his friends the monstrous avengers because a lot of people will think of this movie as marvel’s the avengers when talking about this movie.

The best Showa Godzilla suit in my opinion
I was just about to mention that you had a suspiciously big collection of photos featuring Kaiju along side scantily clad girls, but this explains it.
You did mention that Ultraman cut down on the violence after episode 10, but the next series Ultra Seven, really leans into bloody dismemberment, as the main hero literally has a boomerang that slices off heads and arms if need be. Guess Tsuburaya changed his opinion on violence yet again.
Also, are you gonna cover Zone fighter? It's a quite interesting tv experiment by Toho, and well, Godzilla, Gigan and Ghidorah all have spotlight episodes in it. Also, Godzilla has his own cave/house in that show, with electronic doors that slide open to reveal him.
For the other monsters in the final battle. I can write a way they can all get their ways. Aside from true monster that got a major role
Rodan: he could of knocked ghidorah out of the sky when he had anguirus on his neck and rodan would do multiple ambush attacks from the sky and then retreat back to the air. In rodans fighting style
Manda: manda could of done something where he constricts around ghidorah’s wing stopping him from flying and letting gorosaurus drop kicking ghidorah to the ground. Manda could also do some bites on the necks of ghidorah when he was done
Baragon: baragon could do a attack where he burrows from the ground and gets out the ground and fires his heat ray at ghidorah and possibly even using his horn to impale him
Varan: varan could of glided into ghidorah and since there is only a flying model he could do some times where he glides and rams into ghidorah
Mothra and kumonga: they can spew webs and silk more to stop ghidorah from moving to much

An explanation for Anguirus being so aggresive toward Ghidorah might be because in Godzilla vs Gigan, godzilla and anguirus fought ghidorah and gigan, and anguirus was held back by both while godzilla was being bombarded, maybe he just gets angry at the iconic golden scales ghidorah and gigan share. Thus his exaggerated aggresion.

I think Manda and Godzilla were fighting because the aliens were big pokemon fans and they realized they had some real pokemon at their beck and call.
You do what I don't think I've ever seen in a Godzilla video that I love, cite quotes from the cast and crew. I remember watching this some years ago and thinking most of it was shockingly dull. Yeah the monster scenes are cool, but it doesn't magically make the rest of the movie good.

The TV versions are better and the TV dubs were better. Americans love Minya. The AIP versions are best and I grew up with those and those should be on the DVDs and blu rays. Those versions are inferior, though the early DVD releases have the better versions. LOVE this movie.
Wish Toho would allow the release of the AIP dub
I do have it on a blu ray copy of the movie, but I understand that the dvd got pullled because it had the AIP dub of this movie without Toho's permission. The international dubbing is just dreadful!!!!

Why do I remember godzillas kids name as Gadzuki? Here its something else- Minya? Idk but it seems like a reality glitch. Btw i loved Gadzuki so idk about Americans hating him
