I saw Duomo, La Scala, Last Supper, Leo Da Vinci museum, Brera, Lake Como and stayed in 2 youth hostels in Sept 2002. Then departed for Zermatt where I slept in a barn set up as a summer hostel. Possibly had the best sleep of my life in a quiet, dark, clean barn under warm blankets on fresh straw. What a wonderful trip!

Thanks for the tip on eating out, but it's Sforza Castle that caught my attention: one of my favorite films ("Ladyhawke") filmed some of its scenes there.

In the Sforza Castle DON'T miss the PIETA' RONDANINI by MIchelangelo, the most INTENSE work of art in the world. It's in a separate room in the Castello Sforzesco. Ask for it at the ticket's office.

milan is smaller than manhattan but so full of treasures that 1000 hands full of fingers would not be enough to list all of them ;)
I mean, besides churches, you didn't mention the monumental cemetery, the hangar bicocca, l'arco della pace, il quartiere isola, i navigli, lo stadio di san siro (la scala of soccer) and many other places and tips...!

For the love of god Mark, it's not Soccer!!! It's football!!!! The only country where they call it that way is USA!!
By the way, great video. My mother moved to Milano five years ago and when wo go to visit her we do more or less the same circuit. I 'd add the Porta Ticinese food zone along the river which is full of people at night, the Via Torino, the Rinascente galery, and an eventual trip to lago di Como of course. Cheers

I love your videos and I'm leaving in June for a 3 month backpacking trip around Western Europe, so all your videos are soo helpful! I really liked the female safety video from way back. But my question for you has to do with very recent events. Do you think it's safe to travel right now? I hear things like the bombs in Paris and the problems in Brussels and I'm scared that something will happen while I'm over there. Do you worry about your safety from the terrorism that's happening right now?
+Caitlin Christian Europe is safe don't worry about it. I'm An Arab and no one bothered me or my wife when we walked on the streets but watch out for beggars and don't interact with them at all.

why is there a french flag behind you ?
I think it was Nov 2015. The city of Milano put out a french flag as a brotherhood sign because tha Bataclan attack.
The frech flag is on Palazzo Marino, the palace where the city head administration is placed.
i think it is two flags the italian and EU flags, the eu is blue and it is in front of italy's and makes it look like the french flag
You are nothing in opera unless you have played the Met. I learned this from an alumnus of the finest Opera Program in the world at The Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University Bloomington. Rated higher than Julliard.
Saying you're nothing if you haven't sung there is a little extreme. If you've sung at places like La Scala, Paris and Zürich opera, Berlin Staatsoper etc. and haven't sung at the Met, chances are you're still a pretty damn great singer. Even though I might have named the Met before La Scala as the "opera mecca", but that's debatable.
