I am in the process of converting lawn sprinkler to drip. I found this video very informative ,detailed, and easy to follow. My problem deals with the valves. I am going to put pressure regulator filter at the valve instead of at the sprinkler head. This should reduce the pressure to 30 psi. Wish me luck
I’ve watched maybe 3 dozen (no joke!) videos on this topic, and I think I’ve finally found the one I find the easiest, yet detailed enough to follow! Thanks so very much - I’ll be learning from your video to attempt to do it myself, and hopefully teach others too!
That's great to hear. We were worried abut getting too complicated on this one, but wanted to cover as much as we could in case someone got halfway through and we forgot to show something important. Let us know how it works out!
Wow, this video was AWESOME!!! I've watched soooooo many irrigation videos and this one was hands down the best! Also the birds-eye illustration of how it's laid out was incredibly helpful to me. I paused it and took screenshots. ;'D Thank you!
This was kind of "step 1" of our irrigation plans. We still have another zone in the back we can take and will probably do another one of these for our fruit trees and other stuff that isn't in the beds and needs a bit more heavy watering at times. Thanks!
This was exactly what I’ve been looking for, thanks for the video! I’m just getting started with gardening and realizing that my lawn system isn’t going to work for my raised bed and new flower gardens. Looking forward to making some changes based on your advice!!
Excellent! Our drip system is probably the most bang for the buck out of any garden-related purchase we've made. It just frees up so much time and everything seems to grow better when the water is consistent. If there's anything in particular you need to know, please don't hesitate to ask. We skimped on the details a bit on this video to keep it to a somewhat reasonable length. If there are any parts you need clarifying, just let us know. Thanks for the watch and the comment!
Is it possible to have a convert just one pop-up head sprinkler into a drip and keeping the rest as regular sprinklers in the same zone? My house has a single zone for the flower beds and lawn. I want to do drip on the flower bed and sprinkler on the lawn with the same zone. thanks and great video
Possible, yes. Easy... not sure. Rainbird makes a drip converter head with eight drip outlets. That's probably the best option and the most likely to work. It really depends on how much pressure your system has... if it's got enough pressure that all the heads are flowing at their maximum rate, then you can probably add the drip head with no problem. If the pressure is low, it is likely that either the drip or the regular heads won't perform well. The best answer is probably "try it". Another option is to get a drip hose and run it off your garden hose if it's a small enough section. Either way, we hope it works out for you! Thanks!
We used the existing zones from the original system, so what we created is just "Zone 4" on the regular timer system. Any system that allows you to run each zone independently one any day would work. If you end up having to replace whatever you have, we really like our Rachio system so that we can easily and quickly start and stop any zone from our phones without having to run back to the garage every time. :)
excellent instructional video. just had a quick question, i am converting a hunter pro spray sprinkler with a 6 manifold drip irrigation - i bought the rain bird conversion kit - just wanted to confirm that it has a pressure regulator ( seems similar to the what you have shown)....???
That's pretty much the same kit but with a slightly different head... I found one other video somewhere that shows the guts of that thing and it does have a regulator on the head. You should be good to go! Thanks for watching! :)
@@AnoleGarden Great, thanks!! I was concerned, don’t want any pipes bursting underground 🙃. Would you advise converting the other sprinklers ( 11 others) as well to drip irrigation with the conversion kit? As I have noticed that the sprinklers, due to their proximity to the wooden fences and the home have caused wood rot over time.
Regarding pressure regulation. I have some drip attachments that are ‘manifolds’ with 2 to 8 1/4” connectors coming out of the top. What is the risk or how do I know if I need additional gadgets or attachments to regulate pressure? I have a well as the water source for my irrigation.
I have 10 plants in my garden area. What emitters do I put on the ends of my 1/4 inch tubing? I don't want slow drips, just water dispersed the plant bases.
This video was extremely helpful, thank you! I am ready to make my conversion. Where did you get the irrigation cover that you showed in the video? I can’t find one with holes on the top sides like that one had.
I think DripDepot.com has them occasionally, but I just get them off Amazon. This is the one we use most of the time: amzn.to/3F5qJ9D Thanks for checking us out!
@@georgehernandez4195I thought I saw these at lowes. Also there are irrigation supply places like ‘SiteOne’ near where I live. They are out there, you just don’t know it until you need it.
Great Video and easy to follow instructions! I am going to attempt this on my lawn system. For clarification; when i have multiple heads on the same zone; do all have to be converted (to drip from sprinker) or can some heads be left alone and others converted? (within the same Zone)
Was the black line you trenched and burried from the irrigation head to the garden beds solid 1/2" drip tube? If so have you had any problems with it collapsing over time since they have a thin wall?
Yes, it's just the regular black 1/2" line. We've had no problems with it at all. I wouldn't go driving trucks over it, but we've run lots of full wheelbarrows over it with no problems. :)
@@AnoleGarden perfect! Thank you for getting back to me. I was thinking I was going to have to get the rainbird ez / flexible pipe to run from the head to the beds but didn't want to have to buy an extra roll of pipe just for that.
Great video with visual assurance. Thank you!

Our story is the same! I know what I’m doing this weekend.
Me too! Thanks for laying this out and providing the links.
yep! came here to say the same thing. SO useful. thank you!
Wow! Grateful for your video, inspiring and helpful. Blessings to you and yours from our Heavenly Father and his dear son 💝
We are very happy to hear that! Thank you for your support.

Loved the schematic and planning, as well as the concise presentation.
Excellent video.
Great instructional video. I'll definitely be attempting to do this in my own garden.

Thank you so much 🙏🏽

I cannot find any sprinkler valve box which has pipe holes on the top of the side wall like yours. Do you have a link of it? Thanks.

Can you provide the link for the valve box. It’s not correct and can’t find one with the slots on top.

do we not have to add a backflow preventer before the retrofit?

Does the does the drip line have holes in it?
Thanks homie
You are welcome!
Hi, do you need a backflow preventer?
Is there a sprikler head that does both?
