It is! I did a tiny section of irrigation for 2 raised beds and 8 fabric grow pots and it was almost $98 for everything not including timer i already had
It can add up but will always be cheaper than soil and raised beds! The benefits and freedom it allows is so liberating, also the plants for sure grow better when I am not in charge or remembering when to water!
I know drip irrigation can seem intimidating to many but hopefully watching me install it can help you feel like you can actually do it yourself! Let me know if buying a kit full of all the parts is appealing. You would have to attach and cut to your needs but all the components would be included!
This would be really helpful too. Never know what to get from the irrigation companies like rainbird etc. Question: if you have a timer for the irrigation, does that mean you keep your water on all the time?
Jacques, please please please do the full irrigation set up guide!! This video is awesome, but I'm starting from scratch and don't know where to start. Your videos are the best- please help!!
Right, I love the way he explains things. I have been putting it off for so long. Well I tried and it didn’t go well, so I’m working up to trying again. 😊
Very informative! Yes, please show us your footage of how to set up the timers and any pressure regulators. This is the confusing part. Excellent video! Thank you Jacques!
That was super interesting! A follow up video would be awesome. I'm gonna need to set up drip for my garden soon and haven't known where to even begin. This video helped make it a little less daunting. Thanks Jacques!
Very interesting and helpful video. Yes, we would like to see a comprehensive video on installing irrigation. We're in Mesa, AZ, so drip irrigation, ollas, heavy mulching, and shade cloth are all essential for our gardening. Any videos dealing with any of those elements would be very useful. You're an excellent educator. Thank you for your video content.
How do you like the ollas?? Do you use a traditional olla pot or do you use a terracotta planter that you sealed at the bottom? I need to do more research into the ollas watering system. Glad to see your comment mentioning it as well as I just watched a video about it last night, so nice to see "normal" folk mention using them, lol! 😁
I would absolutely love to see the entire irrigation set up, regions and timers. It is intimidating, overwhelming and seems very expensive. It would be awesome if you could walk us through the process.
Excellent video. I'd like to see the complete irrigation videos, please. My old system was all drip and was destroyed by someone being aggressive with weed removal. I thought now would be a good time to improve on my old irrigation. Perfect timing!
Definitely would appreciate a comprehensive tutorial on the complete setup starting at the faucet/timer end. A discussion of how to calculate watering times and amounts would be ideal too. Thank you so much for your excellent presentation!
Demand is a bit harsh... I do request a video on determining how to get the right amounts of water using drip systems. One of your beds has tomatoes & cauliflower (i think)... i interested in what factors you consider when picking the tubing type, what time of day to run them & how long. Everyone's garden will be different but is there a "10 best" factors to deteremine before installing/timing a drip system?
I find that it is easy to overthink when in reality most plants will appreciate the same amount of water regardless of common wisdom. In the heat of summer especially everything just wants water so any even distribution of water is most ideal.
I would love to watch the compilation drip irrigation video. Please take the time in between your spring planting season to make it. I rent and have a small backyard which I grow my vegetables in containers and would love ideas on using drip irrigation to provide my containers with water while I'm on vacation. Thanks in advance!
After four years of full gardening, this will be the season I invest in and install irrigation throughout my property. I’ve been doing quite a bit of research and currently have the supplies sitting in my online shopping cart, but a fully comprehensive irrigation installation tutorial would help immensely! Please and thank you!
Raccoons are cute but very , very naughty. Good luck winning the battle with them. I’m excited for your irrigation system. I’m at the point in my life where dragging garden hose’s around… oof 😓. Thank you for sharing your time with us in your garden. ♥️🇨🇦
I'm years away from having a garden situation with irrigation, but this makes installing irrigation much more approachable. I'd love to see a thorough walk through with a full PVC install! I'm currently hand watering all my plants in my container garden, I have no hose outlets at my apartment. Great video!
Great episode, lots of good info. I have been using the 2 port Orbit manifolds for several years. The UV from the sunlight will cause them to turn white, and then snap off, so you need to keep an eye on them. I have thought about using a PVC cap over them to block the UV, or simply cover them with soil. I really like the B-Hyve wifi timers, very easy to program, and you can easily do manual watering if you have a very hot day and want to treat your plants to a little extra water.
I have now heard a few people mention that they breakdown in the sun which is disappointing. I will for sure keep an eye on it and maybe cover it somehow.
Yes, yes! I'd love to see the entire process. This video was so much fun and so informative! The tips and tricks, especially the black electrical tape, was a great idea. Your garden is just glorious and your fruit tree is coming along nicely, too!
Thank you for being detail oriented. As the others have expressed I would very much appreciate a complete guide to irrigation. And to understand why some of my irrigation systems does not seem to be emitting enough water. Could it be my main line is too long? Thanks again 😊
This video is right on time for me!! LOL I just came back from a long vacation to my mom complaining about my detailed notes on watering my starters, 10 grow bags, and 5 raised beds😆. I need to set up a system so it's easier and less stressful in the future. I would love to see a video on setting up a full system for raised beds and grow bags!
thank you so much for this tutorial! I have been hand watering my 1/3 acre for 40 years and it gets old. I have always been intimidated by drip systems and didn't know where to start. So this was super helpful and I would love to see the full thing from PVC to timers. Thanks for all you share! love your channel!
I have had drip irrigation in my beds for several years and have made changes over time but got some helpful tips from your video. This video came at just the right time for me as I am about to redo it for this year. Thanks!
That racoon video! It's like kids in a sandbox 🤣🤣🤣 You can get a motion activated sprinkler that deters cats and probably racoons. I used one in my garlic bed to stop cats treating it like a litter box
Thanks for doing this video. I've been putting off setting up drip irrigation for my mini forest for over a year, but I'm finally inspired to go do it this weekend.
I love this kind of video. I have drip run throughout my yard but I have made plenty of mistakes. I like seeing all of the different ways to run drip. I have very hard water so I have to re-run new lines frequently. When there is a solution to that I will be a happy girl.
I have a square foot garden setup using quarter inch line with emitters every 6”. That allows me to plant pretty much anything using the sq ft planting guidelines and have had a lot of great luck. Plus the drip spacing keeps the soil fairly nicely moist in a broader pattern about 3-5” down for thriving soil life like worms.
I would love to see the info on how you set up zones & control them individually. I put in a very basic drip irrigation set up this past year. Since I am a fairly new gardener, I am looking forward to expanding my system, as well as my knowledge! Thanks for your easy to follow videos! You rock!😅
Great video, Jacques. I love how you get to the point and describe things in such a way that it felt like you de-mystified (no pun intended) the process. Thank you!
Yes, please, on the complete irrigation video! I have set up a system before but that was several years ago. I'm old, and my memory is not the best. A complete, in-depth video would be very appreciated.
I’ve been DIYing my irrigation in my tiny garden and this wa interesting to watch!! I don’t use any PVC pipe, mine are all mainline tubing that comes up over the sides of my beds. I’d love to see more!
Wow, thank you for explaining this so simply. I am going to update my novice system with some of your tips. Loved the electrical tape end caps and the multiple manifolds. Looking forward to your source set up.
Hello Jacques, thank you for this very informative drip irrigation video. Yes, please create the full video for the pipe install, this would be extremely helpful. 😊
This guide is awesome/the visual explained what I've been trying to research these past few months. I have 6 8x4 beds with Garden soil/huger culture method like yours and I've been trying to figure out how to do drip line so I can completely water the bed without drip irrigation emitters I would need to move and setup manually to each plant's roots. I would also want the full guide as this is exactly what I'm trying to do now lol. I'm pretty close to what I'm choosing for a timer, etc. but having more information is never a bad thing :)
A full explanation of systems & guide would be great. Talking about line types, filtration, pressure/check valves, helper pumps, etc. As well as layout tips, line types, emitters, drippers, sprinklers & other things possibly needed. A layout planning guide tht includes these different & needed approaches would helpful too
I would love to see more. I have no idea how to deal with using one spigot to have irrigation to various parts of the garden while having a hose I can still use to fill a watering can. Learning irrigation is like learning a new language to me!
thank you, Jacques! I was about to search the web for all kind of forms or irrigation... and this video came out! You are always just right on timing :) Would love to see that super detailed video you mentioned!!!
Very interesting. Please new to see how you put the PVC inside the raise bed. Whenever you can yes we need the whole thing and the materials needed. Thank you for your time and explanation.
This is very helpful. I would love more details. We have drip, but it's kind of a mess and we find it intimidating. Issues with pressure mean we have multiple zones, so starting right from the tap with a manifold and timers would be great.
You do such a great job making a complex topic easier to understand. Thank you! I would LOVE to see the tutorial on setting up PVC, zones, etc. Also, those darn raccoons! Tip: sprinkle some cayenne pepper powder in your raised bed. It definitely discourages critters (raccoons, rabbits, squirrels, etc.) from scavenging and ravaging your beds.
Thank you for sharing! I hand water my garden now and need to get the courage to start that project and try to set up drip! Please share the complete set up!
Yes, pleeease get to that other project because this is the year I actually think I will install but I’m stuck on getting all the bits and things that need to go on the faucet thing etc ❤
I am currently planning a brand new irrigation system with nothing but a well and pump in place so a video on that could definitely provide some ideas ♥
Thank you very much. I got a lot of good ideas from your video. I’m about to finish doing mine this week before everything’s gonna start growing like crazy.
Good video! Last week, I spent a good portion of a day setting up a dedicated line to my climbing roses & a narrow flower bed. I have an on/off switch at the beginning of the line as well because I tapped onto a main distribution line. Should make watering much easier 😊
I'd love to see the detailed irrigation plan! Also - how do you decide between 1/4" and 1/2" line? Also - with grow bags - do you put the pvc pipe up the outside or make a hole and come from the bottom? Everything looks like it's growing so well - those caulis are gigantic :)
1/4" line is ideal for areas where you have to bend it a bunch to fit in tight spaces or curves. So for grow bags it is ideal and for round beds. With 1/4" line you also can't really go past 10 foot lengths. 1/2" is great for long runs and semi straight lines with little beds. It will clog up less and work more evenly over long distances.
PLEASE give us the full video for irrigation set up!!! My brain is beyond curious on how on Earth you have the water pressure for such a MASSIVE garden.
Yes! Please give us the entire story on setting up an irrigation system! Also, why did you opt to grow wheat in the Hügelkultur rather than anything else? I’m contemplating small food forests to get started.
Great video, and perfect timing! I was just starting to research drip systems for my 4x8 raised and ground beds,, Thanks a million!, and, as always, any more info and footage re the whole system would be gratefully appreciated.......
I was just setting my drip system up this morning. Still have some connections to make but I'm getting it done. ( Eight birdies beds, the eight in one tall). I've always preferred hand watering with my hose and sprayer. It makes me pay attention to the plants as I watered. I could then address any issues I might notice right away. I've restarted my chemotherapy treatments so I'm good one week and sick the next. Now during that sick week I wont be so worried about having to water. (Summers coming) I've got each bed on a seperate timer. So now the watering will be real simple. All autonomous. Because I knew I'd be on treatment I chose not to grow too much. Only going to grow tomatoes, peppers (hot and sweet), cucumbers, basil, and melons. I might throw a couple zucchini in after I harvest the potatoes . I currently still have leeks, cabbage, carrot, potatoes , growing . Absolutely you should put up the whole DIY drip system video. Could be real helpful to many. God be with you!
I love hand watering as well but it starts to become to time consuming once the garden gets big and summer hits. I found myself spending many hours just watering every week! Best of luck with treatment and hopefully you get a wonderful harvest.
Yes please as detailed as possible. I started drip with my container trees (which I will be redoing as I don’t like the first setup) but have been procrastinating on my birdies beds for drip. Haven’t a clue how to put drip into the beds and like you have been putting it off as I don’t have a clue how to tackle the job. So as detailed a video as you can give would absolutely be appreciated! Love your videos btw.
This was so helpful, thank you! Please please do the irrigation set video. We need to set up our rasied beds with timers and are newbies struggling with how get it done. With our scortching Santa Anas ts so important when gone for work for 10 hours a day and be there to augment the watering.
Thanks Jacques! I've been commenting on Kevin's channel demanding a full irrigation video. Would love to see the full one. I also want to know the timer and other tools that you use for the irrigation. I've used a few different brands and they kinda all sucked and there are way too many choices out there and it's really hard to choose the right product. I noticed that you put the drip line links. Would love to see all the other products you used in this vid as well!
We demand the complete irrigation video 🧑🌾🧑🌾🧑🌾
I second this comment 😁😂❤
I agree 😉
finish it jacque!
I third!
We POLITELY demand a complete irrigation video!
Absolutely would love to see a video all about setting up irrigation. It seems so intimidating and expensive
It is! I did a tiny section of irrigation for 2 raised beds and 8 fabric grow pots and it was almost $98 for everything not including timer i already had

I would definitely be interested in a kit!
Yes to more full videos on setting up drip from scratch and if you can include grow bags too!
This would be really helpful too. Never know what to get from the irrigation companies like rainbird etc. Question: if you have a timer for the irrigation, does that mean you keep your water on all the time?
I would be interested in purchasing a kit.
Pin this comment (your comment) when you can :)
Jacques, please please please do the full irrigation set up guide!! This video is awesome, but I'm starting from scratch and don't know where to start. Your videos are the best- please help!!
I would love a full "how to guide." This already was incredibly helpful and has me less intimidated about trying to set up irrigation for my garden.
It is going to be a beefy one!
Right, I love the way he explains things. I have been putting it off for so long. Well I tried and it didn’t go well, so I’m working up to trying again. 😊
Yes - would love to see the complete guide. I hate asking - and thereby adding to your workload. But you asked - and that's my answer. 😁
I am getting what I asked for that is for sure!
@@jacquesinthegarden 😆
Very informative! Yes, please show us your footage of how to set up the timers and any pressure regulators. This is the confusing part. Excellent video! Thank you Jacques!
Jacques, you would have my undying gratitude if you filmed , and showed us the complete irrigation system video. Thank you so much! 🥰🥰
Yes please. I look forward to a full primer or "how to"guide. Thank you for your expertise Jacques
Greetings,
Yes, I would like the full tutorial from start to finish on your irrigation installs. Plz/Ty
Cheers,
Upstate NY
That was super interesting! A follow up video would be awesome. I'm gonna need to set up drip for my garden soon and haven't known where to even begin. This video helped make it a little less daunting. Thanks Jacques!
Glad to hear this!
One of the best instructional videos I’ve seen. Detailed with demonstrations, and didn’t over explain.
Your rationale for the 8” spacing makes so much sense. Thanks for the “Ah-ha” moment!
You are so welcome!

Yes I would like to see the video with more in depth coverage as I will be installing mine soon!
I’m setting up new irrigation in my beds this year and would love your in depth irrigation video 🙏
Thank you for being detail oriented. As the others have expressed I would very much appreciate a complete guide to irrigation. And to understand why some of my irrigation systems does not seem to be emitting enough water. Could it be my main line is too long? Thanks again 😊
It could be too many lines leading to insufficient pressure or too long of a span causing lower pressure as well!
This video is right on time for me!! LOL I just came back from a long vacation to my mom complaining about my detailed notes on watering my starters, 10 grow bags, and 5 raised beds😆. Who thinks Kevin should do a video of hooking Jacque up with a nice irrigation/drip system?
I love this kind of video. I have drip run throughout my yard but I have made plenty of mistakes. I like seeing all of the different ways to run drip. I have very hard water so I have to re-run new lines frequently. When there is a solution to that I will be a happy girl.

Very interesting. Please new to see how you put the PVC inside the raise bed. Whenever you can yes we need the whole thing and the materials needed. Thank you for your time and explanation.
Thank you -appreciate the tips! Staggering the emitters, putting the connecting piece on the drip line before the mainline, etc. :)
Yes! full irrigation video please!! Hoping to set some up soon but I have no idea where to start

Great explanation! I'd LOVE to see the full drip video!
I am currently setting my irrigation system up and it is a task! Trying a couple different emitter options as well.
I am currently planning a brand new irrigation system with nothing but a well and pump in place so a video on that could definitely provide some ideas ♥
THANK YOU for the electrical tape hack!!!!
Hmm. I hadn't considered using electrical tape on those ends... I had a handful of black wire ties I used for those.

Please do a full video on the irrigation setup! I definitely need to install drip this year, but it seems daunting!

1/4" line is ideal for areas where you have to bend it a bunch to fit in tight spaces or curves. So for grow bags it is ideal and for round beds.
It will eventually be out for sure!
This was so helpful, thank you! Please please do the irrigation set video. We need to set up our rasied beds with timers and are newbies struggling with how get it done. With our scortching Santa Anas ts so important when gone for work for 10 hours a day and be there to augment the watering.
YASSSS for the complete irrigation system...
Looking foward to a complete irrigation video
Thank you! I would be so encouraged if you would follow up with the other video that you're talking about making. I need your help 😊
This is EXACTLY the video I needed 😍 you’re the best
Thanks Jacques! I've been commenting on Kevin's channel demanding a full irrigation video. Would love to see the full one.
I also want to know the timer and other tools that you use for the irrigation. I've used a few different brands and they kinda all sucked and there are way too many choices out there and it's really hard to choose the right product.
I noticed that you put the drip line links. Would love to see all the other products you used in this vid as well!
Yes! We would love the complete video!!
Yes yes yes we need the full guide please ❤
I had a little trouble keeping up with you, but I learned a lot of helpful tips!
Happy you got some good information out!
Anyone else on here loving the Beet Podcast channel hosted by Eric
