    Beyond inspiring! This is heavenly. Both of you worked so hard, it was an amazing, disciplined and wonderful transformation. Just when I thought I'd settled on a PMC, you had to put this vid out, ha! The hatch door is so nice against rain and sun, a wonderful place to cook. Really enjoyed the thoughtful placing of water tank.
    Going to watch the full tour now. One thing, being a safety minded PA-C: please wear appropriate footwear when handling power tools! Kudos and cheers from Albuquerque, NM 😃

    • @SmallVansBigWorld
      @SmallVansBigWorld  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you!! The hatch door is GREAT!! There’s a lot you can do with it. We were really excited when we saw all the space and we knew the tanks should be place there.
      Hahah thank you for your concern and you’re absolutely right! 😉

      I can understand your concern with footwear since I am now a mother. 🙂
      But we grew up wearing shoes to church or to go to town. Otherwise we were barefoot and there was always some kind of building project going on 😆🤦🏼‍♀️

    Your build looks light years better than mine. I like having the option of using my van as an actual van sometimes though. So, I set mine up so that I can remove everything within 10 minutes... even the flooring. I can put everything back just as quick. The solar setup and diesel heater is the only thing that I leave inside since they aren't really in the way.

    Very professional job. I was just curious about the water tanks and pump installation. It doesn't seem like it would be very accessible if you had to repair a leak or service the pump, without having to tear up the flooring.

    • @SmallVansBigWorld
      @SmallVansBigWorld  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thankfully it is build with that in mind. The water system is build to be service free and last a very long time. The changeable water filter is located under the sink.

    I've never seen anyone get a sub-floor in a Connect before. You guys are really skilled craftsmen. The only thing I would have done different is leave out the skylight. Just another hole in the roof that will eventually leak.

    • @SmallVansBigWorld
      @SmallVansBigWorld  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you!
      About all the holes you might put in the van, just make sure to check the sealant at least once a year and apply more if nessesary. Regular maintenance for any RV.

    Was this a cargo base or the passenger base? I'm still not sure which one is best to build on and the differences between them as buildout goes. Meaning structural differences in the rear cabin/ceiling etc..
    I think I might just get the passenger style but I assume it's a bit more complicated to build out vs the bare bones cargo

  • @holgerk6352
    @holgerk6352 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like the subfloor water tanks. But the diesel heater air outlet is very bad located.

  • @lawtt
    @lawtt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Did you buy it as a wagon or a cargo van? You seem to have installed the water tanks in the foot area of where the rear wagon seats may have been.

    • @danielt4730
      @danielt4730 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it a cargo van, and that is correct.

  • @ashleyparker4580
    @ashleyparker4580 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Haven’t got all the way through the video yet.. very impressed so far, but how do you plan on removing the water tanks for servicing/cleaning? I would highly recommend cleaning the tanks on at least a yearly basis. Uncleaned tanks can build up with biofilm which can cause infection in the body if not careful. Please look into it and be safe

  • @mitchellboggeman5336
    @mitchellboggeman5336 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    how many extra inches of depth is that sub floor at the front of the cargo space?

  • @billmaghan

    I like the extruded aluminum channels you bolted to the roof. What did you use for spacers?

    • @SmallVansBigWorld
      @SmallVansBigWorld  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The spacers were made of aluminum and nylon, with rubber washers. Use silicon caulk on the threads of the bolts, and you should get a quick custom roof rails! Perfect for solar panel mounting.

  • @akosirolandr

  • @alanproctor6135

    Can you explain what holds up the slide out bed on the side closest to the kitchen? By the way, I’ve looked at probably 100 builds of this van, and you guys nailed it. I’m likely going to build the one with the dual swinging doors, but other than that, I’m going to build as much like yours as I can. Great job!

    • @SmallVansBigWorld
      @SmallVansBigWorld  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the feedback! when the bed is open it is held by the heavy duty slides, plus is supported by resting on top of the kitchen drawer face panels. Watch the van tour for more details.

  • @minimutt1408
    @minimutt1408 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very nice build. How much weight did you add? Especially if your water tanks are full? 4 cylinders have a reputation for chugging up hill. What does the weight do to your gas mileage?

    • @danielt4730
      @danielt4730 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not that much weight was added. When you are full on water, it's less than 200lbs. Overall still less weight in the van than if you had a car full of people in the passenger version of these vans.

      Any cuts and screw holes get rust prevention, primer and paint, so no raw metal remains exposed to the elements.

  • @beautifuldis8tr741

    Great build!!!!!!!! I have a question 🙋‍♀️ can a larger “fixed” bed be put into a connect? Like a full size bed? Yet still allow space at the “foot” for a toilet to slide from under the bed and or room to put your feet on the floor to get dressed?

    • @SmallVansBigWorld
      @SmallVansBigWorld  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A fixed bed is very possible if all accessories are stored under the bed as pull-out options. Our preference is to the sit up in the van to use the interior as a work space or other activities rather than just sleeping.
