Feels kinda like a missed opportunity. At the end Constantin rants about how terrible the old world is and how they can be better rulers as gods. But, if you've done all the diplomacy and side quests to get the best ending, you've kind of already shown the path towards that better world.
But, once he starts using the wildlife to kill people, I suppose there's no way he could be embraced in his old life again. The only way to save him, I feel would be an entirely different endgame where say...the prince arrives on the island, brands you and constantin as traitors and the two of you have to stop the monarch from engorging himself on his own power trip. Maybe where he becomes a corrupted guardian born from the greed and malice of humanity?

They perfectly manage to show both the good and bad of almost any given faction. The only faction that this is not really true of is The Bridge Alliance, which even then if you do the side quest you ultimately manage to make them better. Because the side quest clearly shows that even the leader is initially fine with the inhumane research being conducted, ultimately only being won to your side via a court case that makes in no unclear terms the severity of what happened clear.

I first had to try out the evil ending for funsies, since not many games allow you to end your story as the "fallen hero turned traitor" and I had to see it for myself. But afterwards i reloaded the save.
As for de Sardet, I'm glad it's left ambiguous. I'm a bit indecisive as to whether i want him to continue as the new governor or just ditch everything and join the Nauts with Vasco. His ancestry was satisfying, but he was still raised in Sérène and I just don't think joining his aunt with the natives would be fitting.

It feels strange that siding with Constantin is the bad ending regardless of what you've done up to that point. Imagine...
"My two young students became gods of Teer Fradee, and, in doing so, managed to accomplish more in bringing peace to the world than they ever could as humans. So, perhaps I am not that poor of a teacher."
"The Nations that vied for the resources of Teer Fradee were brought to heel, but, only in the threat of force. The ethical and social reforms that were already underway in Theleme and the Bridge Alliance allowed them to soon very easily live in peace with nature, as well as the native peoples of the island. The merchant congregation, always choosing the comfortable status quo, fell in line"
"The coin guard did well in restoring honor in their ranks. While an unsavory character would work their way into the ranks, on occasion, they would inevitably be flushed from the guard. Those that hid their treachery better were posthumously found out after going "missing" in the wilderness, controlled by the new watchful deities."
"The natives of the island, funnily enough, became the leaders in new technologies and industries. Given how the old nations were forced to reckon with the malichor being the fruit of their own advancements, new and old world traded knowledge, developed novel ideas, and eventually managed to advance in ways that still respected the land. The malichor has, in response, finally begun to recede. The native peoples of Teer Fradee held to their traditions, but, with a peaceful coexistence with their neighbors."
"The nauts continued to develop their seafaring technologies. However, as they slowly opened up their ranks to allow new arrivals and departures, the idea of a "Naut" became more of a spirit of adventure and reliability than just that of a guild member. Though, it is said that ships controlled by nauts have remarkably fast and pleasant weather for their expeditions; as if watched over by benevolent forces..."
"The companions of my young student, at first taken aback by his/her choice, eventually saw the new world forming before them as one full of promise. They eventually returned to their lives, bolstered by the new possibilities they found; and forever grateful for the friend who sacrificed his/her old life to give them such a chance"
"There was much fear that Constantin would bring ruin to the world by attaining his godlike power. But, I would believe he has learned from the cousin who rules alongside him. The values of mercy and charity, over brutality and greed, were all that were truly needed to cast off the ills of the old world. Perhaps Constantin knew he needed his beloved sibling to rule as he needed, and that sibling knew Constantin had it in him, still."

this sounds cool and all, but don't forget that Constantine couldn't have been reasoned with. He got blinded by power and something like convincing him to do good things for the interests of others just wouldn't work in the long run. Siding with Constantine is a shitty choice because he's a ruthless madman. The bonding ritual changed his ambitions and how he perceives the world. He needed to be killed, in spite of how De Sardet could feel about it.
Of course, realistically speaking, in our own world, the ruthless dictators and powerful men shouldn't be just killed in cold blood, they should be sentenced and imprisoned, but I don't think that's available when we're talking about an aspiring god hahah

Super late comment, but I just recently finished the game and got the best ending almost my complete luck lol
The "en on mil frichtmen" or "tree", as it were, can't actually heal the malichor.
It does say however that it is within the power of those who are suffering from it that you can find the cure.
Remember, the Malichor isn't a "disease" and it's not a poison, and it was neither caused by a curse, or evil deed of an enraged witch.
It is a symptom of the uncaring and brutal "rotteness" civilization.
This is why the malichor only gets "healed" when you, as DeSardet, start to correct the horrible behaviors of the different factions.
The Nauts and their mistrust. Hikmet and its amoral practices of study. Theleme and their fanaticism. The Coin Guard and their greed.
They are all imbalanced and throughout the game you help these factions grow outside of just the island, and by doing so, the malichor begins to end.

I've recently replayed all of it and damn, I haven't had such a good time in a very, very long time. Inquisition was good, but far from Origins imo. Greedfall is the closest non-old-bioware game I could find. The only downside of Greenfall for me is the combat - companions are almost useless, spam parry and you win 90% of the fights, add some dodges and you win all of them (extreme diff, first playthrough). I wish it had a combat system like DA:O and not like Dark Souls. Loved how companions interacted during dialogs - I think Greedfall did a better job than DA:O with this.

Unless you were talking about science shit, she wasn't interested. Which I thought was whack as hell.
Whereas, Soira immediately warms up to you and responds in kind when you show her affection. Even when Aphra was mostly nice, I still didn't like her at all.
